An infertility clinic will try and match the donor
and recipients ethnic background and physical characteristics such as
eye colour, height and weight, build and complexion as closely as possible.
However, the recipient's couple will be advised that any matching cannot
be guaranteed.
Because of the shortage of alutistic donors, many
IVF centers routinely match two recipients to each altruistic donor.
Eggs are shared equally between the two recipients provided that enough
eggs are collected to split.
