Oh Elca, Sorry to hear your past due. I've heard a lot of tales of women going into labor the day before a scheduled induction, so i pray it happens for you. As for me I am waiting too. My ob-gyn won't even talk about induction till week 40, which is fine with me. I heard that a baby can be fine ins...

Melissa, Ah a walking epidural! Yes, I had heard of that. Just not it's formal name :) Good luck on your first unsupervised night. Keep those friends' numbers handy and I'm sure you'll both do fine. As for me, yes I am 6'feet tall and usually quite lean (remember my ob-gyn told me to GAIN fat in ord...

MLB I agree with the nurses. Try to get some sleep! 3 hours in 24 is not a lot ... and your body needs to recover. what is an intrathecal? and how is one diff than an epidural? Michele, I don't have a scheduled C section, remember I'm crazy enough to want to go through childbirth without drugs.. my ...

MLB, Congratulations ! I'm thrilled that your son has arrived, and it sounds like you were a trooper. I assume the pushing wasn't a problem since you hardly mentioned it, but yeah, it sounds like there's no getting around the fact that transition - or that last bit to 10cm - is excruciating. Get som...

Melissa, The breastfeeding class last night rocked. It was held at Real Birth in Manhattan and taught by this sassy teacher named Ayelet. I loved her and her no-nonsense attitude. WE got taught the Australian latch which apparently is the way to go if you want to minimize boob damage and nipple hurt...

MLB, I am so happy that the second u/s gave you great news. What a wild week you've had. I do hope that you are feeling better emotionally and are looking forward to meeting your little one. CTmichele, Sounds like Ella is a superstar. Sleeping 4 hours at at time. What a girl! I still can't believe h...

Caligirl and Elca:
You are both getting awfully close to your due dates? Any signs of progress? Effacement? Dilation? Bloody show? Fake labor?

Melissa: Any news yet about your more detailed u/s? I'm thinking of you and hoping for the best for you and your dh. Lostgirl

MLB,
Hang in there. My thoughts are with you. You'll know more on Tuesday and see whether the u/s was misleading or whether your baby is actually in danger. I'm just so sorry you have to go through this right now. It's hard to hang on to one's sanity.

A big hug, Lostgirl

Just got back from my week 37 appt, where I saw a colleague of my ob-gyn in her practice. (My regular ob-gyn gets back from vacation next week). I'm 100 percent effaced (last week I wasn't at all). But I'm not dilated yet. I haven't felt any Braxton Hicks since I stopped exercising so maybe they'll ...

Congratulations! Ella is a darling. I can't believe how intently she looks into the camera. No doubt there's a keen intelligence behind those eyes. And so many loved ones have met her already. Lucky girl. What I can't get over is she was 6 pounds 3 ounces and still looks big to me, and yet, the baby...

Melissa, The bath is just warm enough to warm up my tush, but I have to say it's not crazy hot. And considering that my ob-gyn herself took a nightly bath from week 28 till she gave birth at week 40, and she was the one to recommend the bath, I wouldn't worry~! Also I have to say it's hard for me to...

Michele, Ella's big day is only two days away. I am sure you are equal parts nervous and excited, which I figure is normal. Good luck with everything. I am so happy for you that your wait is almost over. As for me, I saw another ob-gyn in my ob-gyn's practice and she not only told me I'm in it for t...

Michele, Sorry to hear about your blood pressure fluctuations. I myself am mired in sciatica nerve pain. It's uncanny. As the day progresses, every step I take sending a shot of pain down my leg. It's enough to make me wince. I saw my ob-gyn this morning and she recommended hot baths every night, ge...

Michele, Less than a week to go till you meet your Ella! I just found out my husband brother's having a girl (they just did their 5 month ultrasound) so are a mere 4 months or so behind us. This makes me want a girl (not that I've cared terribly either way till now) so that the cousins can be even c...
