Thanks Sabi
Seems like forever to my u/s on the 30th. I just want to see my little bean with a little heartbeat. I'm not having any preggo symptoms so it always makes me doubt that i am really preggo. I know most don't have symptoms this early so i don't know why i am driving myself crazy.

Hi Everyone, I am new to the forum. My husband and I have been TTC for the last couple of years. During which time I found out I had severe endometriosis. I had surgery for the endo and they unexpectedly had to remove one of my ovaries....after I recovered from surgery we started TTC again naturally without luck. I found out later than I had diminished ovarian reserve. We struggled with trying to adopt from China and Taiwan, but we kept running into barriers we were uncomfortable with. So this has led us to considering egg donation

My husband and I decided recently we will be using an egg donor and cycling at SDFC this summer. Unfortunately, finding an egg donor has been a bit of a challenge. I am Chinese and it is very important to me to use a donor that is 100% Chinese. Hopefully somehow the right donor will come into our lives. We are also willing to share a Chinese donor with another couple cycling at SDFC, but it seems difficult to find another couple in such a situation. I know Chinese donors are in high demand, so I know there must be other Chinese women out there looking for a donor.

Just wanted to introduce myself, and glad I found this forum!

Hi everyone,

I am about to embark on a donor egg cycle and would like some advice. I plan to use a donor found for me by my clinic. Are the consents that both the donor and I sign enough or should I have a legal agreement outside of that? I have no way of knowing who she is and vice versa, so I am not sure if that would even be possible. What did you all do?

Many thanks!

Brooklyn - I went through a donor agency and they automatically do contracts. Its really easy they just don't put your name on her contract and her name on your contracts. You have 2 separate signature pages and they just put the 2 together to say it is a binding contract. The lawyers keep all the information. We had to have separate lawyers. I would be surprised if your clinic didn't already have some kind of contracts. I wouldn't do donor without it. Too much is at stake and for me it was was around $1600 for the lawyer fees. Well worth it so no one can try and take my baby later or try and have rights to my frozen embies.

Good Luck!!

This tread seems to be inactive for a while. I hope that I can somehow revive it and get accompanied by other ladies with DE experience or facing the option of DE to walk down the path.

We have ttc for more than 7 years. In 2007, I had an ectopic natural pregnancy. We began IVF since 2010. So far, we have had 5 IVFs, all BFN, except for one chemical in IVF#2. Our last IVF yielded no embryos to place back, which is the worst outcome to date.

DH’s sperms are perfect and I have history of endometriosis and uterine fibroid; one tube was removed due to the ectopic. We have tried 4x short protocol, 1x long protocol. The last protocol we tried was a short protocol triggered with GnRH agonist, which was supposed to improve egg maturation. Because of the failure of my last cycle, the RE thinks that we have fundamental problems and suggest us use DE.

Using DE is quite a shocking concept to me. I still hold strongly the idea that DNA is the sole materials one inherits from his/her parents. At the same time, I cannot bear the idea of asking my youngest sister as the ED.

Here am I now to seek supports for ideas, options, etc.

Kerri
this thread was really active 2/3 years ago but seems to have 'died'!! - i posted regularly pre and post my BFP. If you go back to the very beginning of the thread there is loads of info on epigenetics (think thats what its called ) and getting your head round egg donor.

For me it was not a real issue - 2 failed cycles with my own eggs .. approaching 39 poor response rate .. wanted to be a mum and as someone said you are being donated a few cells that is all, you will nourish and help the baby grow and it will have your blood flowing through it - I am from the Uk so ED is not annonymous anymore here so there is a real shortage of donors - whilst we were deciding where to go for our ED cycle we went on holiday to the Maldives to celebrate my 40th - met a couple from prague who had gone through IVF and they recommended a clinic - one I had be coincidently looking at - we went out for a consultation - got an immeadiate match - eye/hair/skin colour/height etc and cycled 2 months later - first cycle failed but had a fet a month later and got BFP and my little miracles are now nearly 2 - it is unreal how much they look like me - more so than DH and we used his sperm ! one of the bioys is also a spit of my brother when he was little.

As soon as you get the BFP, hear the heartbeat they are yours and I never really think about it anymore - except t offer a silent prayer of thanks to him upstairs for my true miracle double blessings.

Don't really know what else to say but feel free to PM me if got any questions - I read the baord daily but don't often get chance to post its so difficult from my i phone and don't like to use my work laptop for obvious reasons!

Good luck xx

Carolyn, sabi,

Thank you very much for the feedback. I am reading the tread little by little everyday. I think decision of taking DE or not is process. I think I need more time to get there.

Wish you the best,

Hi Ladies,

I thought I would bump this post up. I know it has fizzled out, but I really appreciate being able to read everyone's stories as I am now faced with looking in to donors. I am still not through all the posts, but I do want to read it all eventually.

I am pleased to see that some former cycle mates are still around and doing well.

Sabi - I don't know if you remember me, but I am happy to see you still check in once in a while and you are loving motherhood to the fullest!

Chris - I don't know that we ever cycled exactly together but I have been follwoing you and I'm so happy to hear that you finally had the success you deserve! Congratulations on the arrival of Jake (belatedly!). Good luck with your upcoming treatments, I fully understand the desire for a sibling and I would hope that after all you have been through already, you have a much easier go of it this time!

Carolyn - How are the boys? Keeping you on your toes I imagine! I have seen an update from you here and there and I love that you pop in to offer encouragement for others! I think of you (and all the ladies from that thread way back then) often.
Have you heard of or from Lee/Sara lately. I hope her little girl is offically hers by now!

AFM - trying to navigate the whole donor scenario. Canada has similar rules as the UK, which makes it harder to find donors. It is so expensive to go through the US clinics. I just don't know if we can do it. It's odd, but it may be that we would have to look overseas to be able to do this! Crazy, but I really want to give our son a sibling. He is so caring and already shows empathy towards others. He loves babies and I know he would love a sibling to grow up with. We would eventually look to adoption if we have to, but I have this very strong desire to carry another baby (or two, if it can happen before I get too old!) and I am just not ready to give up yet!

Thanks again for sharing your stories ladies! And if there is anyone else new to the donor situation who wants to revive this thread me, I'll be around.

Take care everyone,
Kim

Hi everyone,
Sabi, wishful, newcomers. Something told me to log on today. Gratitude maybe. Anyone new, read back through the posts from the start. This thread was my saving grace. The friends I made here I will have for life. I have two beautiful boys. Two years old. Love them more than anything. Be strong.
