Still chasing rainbows

Postby Goodison » Sun Oct 06, 2002 1:24 pm

Hi im Helen, almost 38.Married to Andrew 41.As a couple weve been trying for 4 years to have a child of our own.Ihave a daughter 18 from my first marriage. After resigning myself to varios infertility problems PCO SYNDROME,tubal scaring, hormone inbalance to name but a few.We were elated to discover i was at long last pregnant, sadly 2 days before our wedding anniversary last year we discovered our baby was ectopic, yet more heartache.Following the surgery i was very depressed as any one whos been in the same situation can relate to.The ectopic was the 6th baby id lost over the years. We have been told that our only hope is ivf.My father died shortly before we lost our last pregnancy ,leaving us with the money to try our only option.Ihave had to loose a drastic amount if weight before we could even be considered for ivf (have gone from size 24 down to 12/14).We have our 2nd appointment on the 5th November,to evaluate ovarian accessibility.I also need to have given up the dreaded weed by then!As its so close to the anniversary of the ectopic loss treatment will be defered untill January 2003.I dont want to get my hopes up only to have more heartache. If therers any one else out there with a similar history id appreciate some advice on how to get through the next few months.Id love to hear from anyone whos been sucessfull with ivf treatment and finally has there longed for child.Meanwhile its back to chasing rainbows for Andrew and i.Goodluck to you all out there on your journey towards parenthood.Helen.
