I'm Down Regging for 38 days???????????

Post by Welshgirl38 »

Hey Ladies,

I'm about to start IVF#2 on Easter Monday and I have been to get my drugs 2day and have found out that im D/Regging for 38 days!

When i asked why so long (as last time it was just 21 days) they told me that as my schedule is worked out in advance (obvisouly) that the only time to fit me in for EC was 14th May - so i have to D/R for this long!

Im not happy about this (as u can imagine) im dreading the side effects, and normal cycles are bad enough for 21 days - but im doing an extra 17 days - im gonna be hell to live with! Im bad enuff now lol!

What do u ladies think??????

Here is my schedule:

24th March - Start D/Regging (by injection)
30th April - Start Puregon (with pen)
6th May - First scan
12th May - 2nd scan
14th may - EC
16th May - ET
29th May - Pg Test

It seems agessssssssss away ....

Is it safe to D/R for this long - does this mean i will get 2 AF's (as i am due one on 31st March (7 days after starting to D/R) if i have another 31 days left to D/R after this AF - then surley i will get another AF - is this right???????

And only 2 scans in this cycle - is that right too???

Oh im not look fwd to this one bit ......

Hey Becky,
I hate it when they do this, change our cycles at the last min, it takes us so long to get emotionally ready for a cycle that when something like this happens it really is upsetting.

Ok saying that, i bet you wont remember now but on my last cycle they rushed mine so we cut out two weeks of down regging so bit like yours but opposite problem. Have to say as upset as i was i had the best cycle yet.

I know it seems ages away and i think giving it the term down regging makes it seem like they will be suppressing your hormones too much, not the case all you will be doing is being held in limbo until they are ready to start growing your little ones, is it a pain having to wait so long yeppers....will it effect your cycle noppers.... your going to have the best one yet...twins i tell you

you know you love me...Debz

Maybe they typed it wrong. Your first scan should be APRIL 6th not May 6th! That sounds way too long. I'd call and ask about it! Good Luck!

Hey ladies :D

Thanks for ur replies ....

Will email u all me details when i get a min - im havin inlaws and rest of family up 2moro for easter sunday dinner (arghhh - i will insist on putting myself thru this lol) its only 11 so it shouldnt be too bad - Brian always helps out with the cooking etc - he is a darling lol. JesJes: Thanks for ur reply hun xx - but they didnt type it wrong, apparantly its true - im d/r for that long  cos they cant fit me in their schedule for EC untill May 14th.... I'm not happy about the wait, but as long as i know its safe to do so and it wont muck up my cycle - then some things are worth waiting for (like twins lol) Ive read ur signature, and im really sorry to read about all that u have been thru :( hugz xxx

Anie: Thank u too hun xx I've already checked on another ivf board  - and there is one lady there d/r for 44 days as her consultant is away - and another lady did it for 12 weeks - my lord 12 weeks!!!!!!! Cant bear the thought lol ....

Oh look, just so u can all have a laff - here is a pic of ALL my drugs and needles that i have to take for the next 60+ days!

becky - that photo is a classic - just about sums it up really! Just wanted to say that there is no standard protocol - it's all very well them giving you the schedule of dates but sometimes things just change - I don't know if you remember the second stim cycle I did - I stimmed for a record 28 days before I finally reached EC - even Ghost was amazed!

So I guess what I am saying is there is no right or wrong way, I am sure your clinic wouldn't be putting you on a course of drugs which were unsafe due to the lenght of time so I guess you have to trust them. Totally understand the frustration of it taking longer than you want it to though - who wouldn't be frustrated ? Anyway wishing you a ton of luck for the new cycle . :D
