ivf and icsi treatment, egg removal

Postby stacey34 » Mon Sep 22, 2008 10:00 am

hi i'm a newcomer to all this trying to establish everything that is going on. someone i know told me that if you have icsi treatment then the embryo is put back in on the day you have your eggs removed. Is this true in any cases whatsoever or doe's the fertilised egg need to be incubated, as i couldn't seem to find a conclusive answer anywhere.

Hi Stacey,

Regardless of whether you have IVF or IVF with ICSI, the eggs are first allowed to fertilise. Its only the fertilised embryos that are transferred back. Depending on your clinic they will do a 2,3 or 5 day transfer. But you're right, transfer never happends on the same day.

Best of luck.
