My dh and I saw Dr. Hilgers. I have to tell you that he did not work for us. He does not believe in any "unnatural" methods of conceiving--no ivf or even artificial insemination. It's all a "natural" system based on learning your body. It's based in Catholic dogma so he won't do anything that goes against that religion, hence the restrictions of "scientific method".

I feel that he is really restricted in his options. He had us use his system of charting my vaginal fluids (pleasant!) and then when he couldn't find anything wrong besides my dh's sperm count being a little low he told me I needed to have surgery done to "figure out what was wrong." At that point, we switched doctors.

On a personal note, I didn't like his bedside manner either. He came across as very arrogant to me, seeming to have no time to answer our many questions.

On the other hand, I know that his clinic has a great success rate and his staff were very, very nice. I suppose you just have to balance what is important to you and go from there. Have you met with him?
