Hyperstimulation

Post by sickwithhyperstimulation »

I am new to this forum and am experiencing a pretty severe case of hyperstimulation. It has been over 6 weeks since the implant and I am lucky enough to be pregnant, however, I have been aspirated on four separate occasions and am still retaining a large amount of fluid in my abdomen. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there that has had this problem. The doctors keep saying it will eventually "get better" but I am beginning to feel like this is hopeless and that I will be sick, bloated, unable to stand upright, and vomiting forever. Can anyone give me some advice?

It will fade soon. I've seen patients with up to 5 aspirations (paracenteses), with up to 15.3 liters of fluid removed (up to 4 liters in one aspiration), but none lasted much more than a month.

If not for your pregnancy, it would have faded sooner. The hCG from the implanted embryo(s) is sustaining it. The likely cause is that the hCG is interacting with many corpra lutea (spent follicles), and causing the release of very high levels of a hormone called VEGF. You probably had more than 30 follicles and you were "triggered" with hCG.

Are you getting albumin? It seems to help a little.

:? blimmey i cant really add much more than ghost
only to say i had ohss at start of my pregnancy (seems like such a long time ago now) and it does take a long time to go away probably took a good 12 weeks to fully clear
but on the good side i think the actual stretching of the tummy caused by the ohss probably helps in the long run with not getting stretch marks :P :P :P
i think because we get an enlarged belly straight awayit just gives the skin longer to stretch slowly
i think that why i have no stretch marks ( at the moment anyway) fingers crossed
well done on your bfp to
take care

I hope you feel better soon!
I just had my ER yesterday and they got 39 follies! I am very worried I will get OHSS - they told me to drink lots of fluids with sodium in it so that is what I am doing. I feel very bloated but I think alot of it is just the gas that is leftover from the procedure - it's just stuck in there!

Oh the things we do to have a baby! :)

Hi, I also have hyper stimulation but only at moderate level. It started just before my PT and only started to get a bit better this week. Some of the swelling has gone down now which is a relief. I measured myself every day and put on 6 inches round my waist which has nearly all gone now. I really hope that you feel better soon.

Charlie - I can't believe that your baby is nearly due. You had just got your BFP when I first joined this board and I remember Richard writing about you being in hospital. This year has really flown past. If I don't get chance to chat to you before I wish you all the best for the birth.
