NEW to the lovely world of IVF and this group. Help!!!

Postby LittleMissMer » Tue Nov 28, 2006 5:34 pm

Hi to everyone!

I want to introduce myself. I have been reading posted messages for about 2-3 months now. I was kind of wondering, in all honesty, if I would even need infertility support...you NEVER think it will happen to you!

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 3 years. My brother and sister-in-law just had a baby thru 3 attempts at IUI. We weren't really worried that we had gotten pregnant just a little curious. After my sister-in-law found out she was pregnat, she urged us to see her doctor.

I went in and "BAM"...hit the ground running. My first blood test showed that my FSH was 10.5 I scheduled for a HSG and then found out that my right side was blocked. Two weeks later, I had laroscopy surgery. It showed that I have a birth defect where only one side of my uterus formed called unicornuate uterus. I have two functioning ovaries (well..kind of). The other ovary was shoved blocked by my bladder to the fallopian tube. I also had stage III endometriousis. She fixed the that and put everything back in place...as best she could. As you can see I have several problems.

My doctor has since performed another FSH showing 17 and has said that IVF is the only way we can have children. But wait, it gets worse! Last month I started the IVF meds Goanl-F, Repronex and Ovidrel. In the middle they bumped my meds to the highest possible dosage. My body didn't respond to anything so we stopped. I am scheduled to ry a different set of meds in January. I am praying that it works!!!

I just turned 34 years old...what the heck is going on with my body? I have been told that I am pre-menopausal. Is there anyone out there with a story similar to mine. I've got so many questions and no where to turn. there is a lot more to my story but these are the basics.

Your support is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi and welcome to the board. I am sorry for all that you have gone through! I only have fallopian tube issues, they have been removed. I wanted to let you know that on the General Forum, there is a thread for all women who will be doing IVF for Dec/Jan. You should pop over and share your story. I am also on that thread and the women on there are very supportive and knowlegable. Like I said I am sorry for all that you have endured and I wish you all the luck in the world on your IVF venture!

Thank you so much for you concern. I also appreciate you telling me which group to go to. I think I am about to bust if I can't talk to someone. It really helps to have someone just acknowlegde my pain. Thank you.

LittleMissMer

I am sorry to read about the sheer hell you have been put through, and the massive rollercoaster ride you have now embarked on...I cannot comment on the diagnoses' you have had as like fed I simply have had my fallopian tubes removed and a few other gynae ops.....although I empathise 100% on your journey from now onwards...... life is very cruel and all these things are sent to test us, and boy do they test us  but hey, I have sat there for many a years crying, asking why? and wondering if I will ever be a Mum and not just Aunty or Godmum, and it has been a long road for me, the one thing that has got me through it this time is PMA & this forum!!!!! so adopt a bit of both and the worlds your oyster! I wish you the very best of luck in the world, and may those Angels bless you with your BFP..... :D

Take Care.
