Just been told I need IVF

Postby suffolk sausage » Wed Oct 15, 2008 11:50 am

Hello everyone, just joined and wanted to introduce myself. I'm 36 and have been trying for my first baby for three years. I've been through four cycles on Clomid, had an investigative lap and dye, been diagnosed with severe endometriosis, had another laparoscopic op to remove it, had a three-month course of jabs to suspend my cycle and let everything heal, and have just been for my follow-up this morning. It turns out there was a lot of scar tissue left behind, so I need to be put forward for IVF. In the back of my mind I knew IVF might end up being the last resort, but I'd had a good feeling about the last op and so the news that it hasn't worked was a bit of a shock. After everything I've been through and to be no further forward, I admit I'm feeling very sorry for myself at this point in time! I'd like to swap experiences with people undergoing similar treatments so I know I'm not alone - and hopefully to hear some success stories to give me hope!

Honey,
You are not alone. You are among the IVF group from all over the world. You are cared about by everyone.
Please relax!
We will have a healthy baby finaly. The baby just hides somewhere and plays on us.

Hey Suffolk
welcome to the board- you will be able to find many women here who have similar situations and hopefully the support you need to feel strong and positive that you will have IVF success.
think of IVF as your window where the door was closed-
it is very scary at first- but you will learn a lot from your REs(reproductive endocrinologists), the gals (and guys) here on the board, and myriad searches you can do on the internet- though I recommend taking some of that with a grain of salt -
11 moths ago, I was told IVF was our only option- and here I am- 3 days away from our goal!
one bit of advice I can give is to let yourself feel all of the emotions - the folks here are awesome support and really do understand the bad days as well as the wonderful ones- take care and luck for a great BFP success

cheers

Thanks for the warm welcome folks! I've had a couple of days to get over the shock, and I'm starting to believe that this development is a positive step towards our goal, rather than a setback. Great to have heard a success story already - good luck Loopie, tell us as soon as you have news! Up until now I've never personally known anyone who had IVF (or at least admitted to it) so it's great to connect with people going through the same emotional rollercoaster. I'll look forward to finding out more and sharing stuff with all of you. :)
