New, need someone to talk to!

Postby Jerseygirl71710 » Tue Jan 07, 2014 11:00 pm

On Nov. 22nd, my husband and I did our 2nd frozen IVF transfer (first one not succesful)
On dec. 2nd they took blood and concluded that I was pregnant. On Dec. 4th got the 2nd blood test back and concluded my HCG levels doubled and I was at 63. They predicted I was 4 weeks. Through this whole process I have been on progesterone shots and Vivelle patches and was ordered to continue taking them until Feb. 2nd.
I have my first OB visit and they gave me a urine test, which came back positive. I was unsure why they didn't just take my blood again because I had read that the hormones I was taking could cause a false positive with the urine test. But I went about the visit. They didn't not do and ultra sound because I was only around 6 weeks and they said we would see much or the heartbeat yet.
So my next and first ultrasound appt. was yesterday, thinking I was about 9 weeks 5 days, they did the ultra sound and only saw the sac and fetal pole. My doctor thought it was odd that she didn't see more which is expected at 9 weeks (a heartbeat and a viable fetus to measure) so she sent me to a more advanced office for a belly and vaginal ultra sound. They concluded the same thing. What they measured was more like a 6 week pregnancy and should have heard a heartbeat, but didn't. They said they think the baby termed at 5 1/2 to 6 weeks and because if the medication I have been taking would cause no symptoms of miscarriage, until I stop the meds. Then I would miscarry in the weeks following.
I went back to my Dr. And requested another HCG test and will have to go back in 72 hours to test again.
In the meantime, I don't know what to think... I read that you can't see a heartbeat at 6 weeks. Maybe I'm a couple weeks earlier than expected...or is that even possible with IVF since it so precise? I need anyone's opinions and someone to talk to. Since they put 2 eggs in my sister read that one could implant but miss carry while the other could still implant but be a week behind. Is this possible? They did tell me that one egg was a few days more mature than the other. I'm holding onto hope here until I get my results back! And we only have one more chance left (2 eggs) Any thoughts please, I feel so confused.

Jerseygirl,

I wish I could help or offer some advice, but I don't even know what to say. We are just doing our first FET on the 31st, so I don't even know what to expect. I'll keep you in my prayers and hope for good news in a couple of days. My nurse did mention something about both embryos implanting and then 1 goes continues with implantation while the other does not, so your sister is right. Other than that, I'm sorry. They could be wrong and you could be further behind than they expected. Did you transfer a 3day or a blast?

I'll keep you in my prayers...keep us posted!

Because the first "fresh" transfer did not work they unfroze 2 and did a blast. I don't even really how how many days they wait until they transfer if it's different than the fresh 3 day transfer.

Thanks for your kind words.

I haven't had a transfer yet, so I really know nothing about beta numbers or being pregnant, but I am really sorry for all that you are going through. It sounds horrible. I wouldn't want to stop taking my medication until I knew for sure that there was no pregnancy.
Good luck with your next appointment. Whatever the result, please take care of yourself. You are doing a great job and none of this is your fault. If not this time, hopefully next time will be the winner for you. Praying for you.

Thanks mommyoneday. I'm glad I came across this site and came in contact with you nice people. It helps to hear it from tral strangers.

I did find out today that my HCG is declining and is now at 81,000. Still want me to do ultrasound on Tuesday and stay on my meds. Will follow doctors orders but my hop fullness is also declining.
Good luck to you as well!
