Hi All!
I'm very new to all this but I hope someone will be able to calm me down!! Sorry for any ramblings but i'm still reeling after yesterdays GP appt.

I'll start with a quick intro:
Me 30 DH 32 TTC 2 years. Started prelim tests and have had poor SA results. Being referred to urologist first. Having to go private as there is a 48 week waiting list and I'm sooooo impatient!
I was just wondering if anyone could give me a clue as to what happens next. GP says IVF is the only way for us but that the specialist will try a whole bunch of other stuff first. What is this whole bunch of other stuff???

Anyway, nice to "meet" you all. hope to speak soon

D xx
Keep :-) always!

Hi D and welcome to the site. You will find loads of advice, support and help from the lovely ladies here.

You may like to read a book by Zita West called fertility and conception, many of the ladies here recommend it. (we are not on comission!) It's really easy to read and explains things clearly.

As for the stuff the drs want to do before IVf this varies from clinic to clinic. We had sperm tests, ovualtion tests, blood tests and I had an HSG (Dye into uterus to have a good look around!) The specialist may want to try IUI first before IVF, I don't know. Just keep asking the drs questions, sometimes they find it difficult to articulate what they are doing and why. As this is not an exact science they try various meds and protocols, suited to each individual.

You may like to join a thread on the general forum, ask any question you like there is usually someone who can help.

Good luck with your tmt! :D

Bye for now
Anna

Hi D

Welcome to the site. We saw a urologist first too, 'cos df has prostate problems. Don't blame you going private. Good luck with the investigations - I hope you can get moving soon.
