New and Feeling it all!

Postby Xrayem » Tue Apr 04, 2006 8:00 am

Hi everyone, I'm new...I'm soon to be 30 and live in Bris-Vegas, Australia (that's Brisbane for all the non-locals!). My hubby and I have just bitten the bullet and decided to get ourselves checked out after 4 years of no baby. I know you're all thinking "FOUR YEARS??!!!??? And your just doing something about it now?" Well that's what our Doc said too!

We've lived abroad in the UK and Switzerland for 4 years and have only been back in Oz for 18 months and we decided that its about time we investigated.

Where are we at now? Well, all our tests have shown that I ovulate like clockwork and my DH is shooting a-grade wigglies so this friday I'm up for a laproscopy to check out my tubes. Just between you and me, I think they are stuffed....my doc thinks so too because he has already started talking IVF cycles.

I think I have always known that it would be my tubes. I was engaged to a guy when I was younger and being naive and in love, I agreed to do away with the condoms and go on the pill. Only problem was that he had several of us girls on the go at once..... It was only years later after we broke up (I found out, of course!!) that I discovered that *&%$er had given me an STD. If on friday I find out that this is because of him.......

So, as you can see, I'm a little peeved at the moment. And disappointed. And frustrated. And scared. And guilty. And a whole host of crappy emotions which I'm sure aren't new to any of you guys.

But I am. New to you guys that is. And I am here asking for understanding, reassurance and basically a mental hug from time to time over what will be a rollercoaster. Hopefully I can do the same for some of you in return. Look forward to chatting.

Hi Em

Just wanted to say welcome to the site. Come and join us over on the general forum where you will find lots of support. There's even a Aussies/Kiwis thread. Good luck with your scan on Friday let us know how you get on. If your fears are confirmed then the only positive thing you can take from it is that you know what the problem is and then you can plan your next move. Yes, IVF and all the fertility thing is shit and life does not seem fair but we all understand and will be there for you if or when you need us. Wishing you all the best.

best wishes and sending you a big cyber hug!
