There is no way I would step foot in that gross little room! We have to do EVERYTHING! I think they can do this one thing on their own!

Okay! ....Actually, one of the lab nurses told me that they MUCH prefer the guys to go in there alone. She said that when the women go in....IT TAKES TWICE AS LONG!

...Think about it::: If the situation were reversed.....I think I could get the job done quicker ....by myself!!

Poor guys! You know they have got to be some embarrassed when they walk out of the lab and there are 3 women sitting there waiting for their blood work ....STARING AT THEM!!! Every time I'm on the 3rd floor for lab work ... and I see a woman sitting there flipping through a magazine ... I know she's waiting for her husband...And desperately TRYING to look busy!! There is no way in hell that I could concentrate on Vogue knowing that my husband could be in there screwing the whole thing up. ..Then again .......Maybe we're both gawking at Elle McPherson (for different reasons!)
Cheers!!

...Room #812 ....... to be exact! Bed's aren't real comfy though!! You may have better luck in the little rooms!!! :D

You guys are killing me. I'm going to have to trust that DH can handle this alone. I just know he is going to be embarassed. I'll probably write a note for him to hand to the front desk on the 2nd floor so he'll know why he's there ... I can see him now fumbling for the right words.

I am doing my hardest not to fret too much. I'd be devastated if there were any male factor issues. DH is not going to cooperate if I start asking him to jump through major hoops.

Hmmm room 812 interesting!!! I know exactly what your saying about the waitingroom! I always feel sorry for the poor guy who walks out!

I think that everytime Eric has gone in with the exception of the ER a male was there to recieve him to give him "instructions". Eric says he wont even sit down in there he just stands in the middle of the room and does his buisness. Also tell your dh's to have coffee right before it is supposed to help their mobility.

Hi Girls!!! Sorry it's been a few days - busy with work and this estrogen patch is making me very sick (sea sick all the time!) I can't wait to start stims so I can take it off!!!! :?

Sonya - so glad to hear they came through for you! They finally stepped up. It's too bad you had to go thru the anxiety ~ what's wrong with these people!!! At least you can move forward with that off your plate! Where are you in the process?

Saralee ~ I think you already have some tips...but here are some as well ~ I have gone with my dh, but never in the room...but you could! I think it's just a bathroom up where near the lab. One suggestion - if he's embarrassed/nervous, go and at least wait outside the room so you can take the paperbag and go hand it to the nurses in the lab...saves him from having to walk out into the waiting area if front of people holding an obvious paper bag!! Also, the later in the day he goes, the less people he will have to run into up there...the helped my dh a lot!

Courtney ~ you have been through a lot. I'm sorry for your loss ~ I imagine that was really tough. I do believe REACH - however unorganized - is one of the best. And I know lots of success stories - but like Saralee said - they tend to go to different boards to discuss being pregnant! I have lots of friends with a variety of issues that have kids now through IVF. I do believe if you have gotten pregnant before, than if you have good, fertilized eggs, you should have a high chance! I have never been prego before, so I have no idea if I can even get pregnant with the best eggs...that's so frustrating! (We have unexplained infertility - every test done - no issues that they can find!? It's bitter sweet).
Stay positive - on our Feb thread we had lots of BFP's and a set of twins reported so far!!!!

Well, I took my cetrotid shot yesterday to bring on AF ~ have had some signs and should be any day. I go into the RE on Day 2 and start stims that day as well....I am also having nightmares as a side affect of the meds so far - I now remember this from last time. No fun!

XOXO,

Ok, that's disgusting!

Well, AF arrived today - thank goodness. So, I go in the morning for ultrasound and blood work. If all looks good, I start my stims tomorrow! I can't believe it's already here!!
I get to take my estrogen patch off as well tomorrow ~ so glad, the side affects from this are worse than anything for me!

How's everyone else! Hopefully enjoying the weather!!! :D

Hey ladies...I know it has been a while since I have posted...my goodness i missed some good stuff! Sonya I am so happy that things are going to work out for you. so when do you get started?

Courtney I am so sorry that you have gone through so much, and I completely feel your frustrations, I was actually thinking the same thing but i think that everyone is right, the ones getting pregnant aren't writing here anymore. i have heard really great things about REACH from many people.

As for the discussion about assisting my DH....not a chance! i did offer but he was content to just get it over with himself.

my E/R went well...it was much less painful than i had expected. i have been taking it easy for the weekend and now I feel pretty good...a bit sore still but nothing too bad. I was pretty ready to get those suckers outta me because I was so bloated it was making me go crazy. I can't remember who was talking about the injection class but i just started my IM shots today....eeeek! The inital pain of the needle wasn't bad at all, but now later in the day my butt is killing me! i don't know how I am going to be able to keep doing this!

So did I miss lunch? I had my E/R on friday so I was out of commission for the day!

CKL ~ welcome back! Glad to hear your ER went well!!
What are the details - how many eggs did they retrieve - how many fertililzed, etc....we'll be saying lots of prayers for your success :D !
When is the ET??

I did the progesterone shots last time and it was very painful as the day went on as well. It helps to massage it and put a warm rag on afterwards...but, really, it is just soar all the time!
However, it's for the best cause! Hang in there...I know the 2WW is exciting in the beginning and then becomes torture by the end! We are hear if you need to vent :P

I started my stims tonight and I'm taking even more meds than before. I thought I had a very aggressive protocol before, wow  ! My poor DH - I already warned him this could be even more emotional than before...

Hi Ladies!

This weather is absolutely incredible and the children are totally psyched about DST. They loved the extended sunlight and I had to literally drag my 13-year-old indoors. Of course, nothig is easy with him! But, we even BBQ'd. This life is so different from the one we had in Jersey. It feels so good. We love owning our home (although technically, it's owned by the bank) and it's awesome to look out at the farmland behind us.

OK, DH wants me to go with him although he said he'd settle on anyone accompanying him. There is no one else! But, he doesn't need or want me to go into the room with him, he just thinks I should be there for moral support, although that is not how he verbalized his request. He just sort of freaked when I said, "I'm going to write you a note for you to hand the woman at the front desk on the 2nd floor ...." and his eyes got all big and he screamed, "A note? Aren't you going to be there???" Anyway, the big day is Wednesday. I am deathly afraid of any male factors because DH is already very hesitant about all of this. I fear that even if it were something easily correctable, he would refuse to comply. He wants a baby but he's not keen on the hard work to get there. He wants this the easy way, which as we all know is not an option!

I told him he might want to purchase his own, ummm, materials because the selection might not be to his liking but he said he could get the job done regardless of the available resources. Gotta love a man with a can-do attitude.

Our informational session with Dr. Whelan is March 28, although I expect to go alone and I will have to explain everything to DH. I can already see his eyes glazing over. DH simply cannot tell his job that we are TTC and with the expected expense he cannot afford to miss much time. He's paid hourly, works in the building trades and missed a boat load of time already when he was injured late last year. I told him I would only request his presence when it was absolutely necessary. It leaves me sort of feeling like a single woman but, at the same time, we have to be sensible about this process.

Ashley, you're stimming now!!! YEAH! The patch sounded absolutely miserable. Glad you're pass that stage. Now, this is still new to me but your protocol has been stepped up in order to increase production of eggs, right? I did two IUIs previously, both injectible cycles, and I was a slow responder ... this was two years ago. The subcutaneous shots weren't a big deal but the IMs had me a nervous wreck! I recall paying to have a nurse give me the HCG shot. Can't progesterone be administered in a pill or suppository form? If so, is injection the preferred mode of transmission? I'm not sure of the expense but, I'm not above hiring someone to come over and administer my IMs. Just admitting that makes me feel like a punk but my biggest fear was always screwing it up and negatively impacting the cycle.

ckl, Congratulations on you ER! But goodness girly, we need details! Tell us more. And, no, you did not miss lunch ... it was not scheduled.

Can anyone tell me REACH's policy on number of embryos transferred? I know it varies according to the patient's age, infertility factors, quality of embryos, etc. I'm sure 2 embroys is probably standard but does anyone know if 3 would be permitted if factors were shaky?

Catch up with you guys later ...

Hey Ladies!!

Hope you are all doing great! Dont you just hate the time change!

CKL: I am glad to hear your EC went good! Like the other girls I am anxious to hear how many follies they got! When is ET? No we havent managed lunch yet! I know the needles such! I would suggest getting one of those cheap hand held massagers and put it there right afterwards. It really does help alot!!!!

Sara: You are so sweet to go with DH. I just sent mine off! Bill Engvall is a comedian that does a great bit about IVF and the male part of it the bit is called invetro! It is really funny if you have Napster you can download it and play it for him! My DH laughed his butt off! When I did my ET they transferred 3. It really depends on the DR and the quality of the eggs. I dont think there is a policy per say. I know they prefer single births.

Ok so lets start picking dates for lunch. We could do Saturday or Sunday so everyone could come. My vote is this Saturday March17th at 12pm!

XOXO
