day 3 following FET, feeling in despair

Post by kez01 » Sun May 27, 2007 11:06 am

Hi everyone,

I am on day 3, I had fet on 24th may. I started having sore boobs yesterday and now I am feeling mild cramps the same as when I get my period.

I dont feel any different and I am sure it hasn't worked again. I have got a box full of hpt which measure 10mIU and I am dying to test, but at the same time I know it is pointless. I just feel so sad  and cant seem to snap out of it today, I feel it is very soon to be feeling so negative and dont know how I am going to get through the rest of the 2ww.

I know I am just feeling sorry for myself and I know everyone else feels the same, but I am driving my husband mad and just had to vent out.

Take care everyone

Kez - please stay positive - it is so early! I know it is difficult, try to find something to occupy your mind - like a project - even take up drawing or knitting or reading a good book! Try to stay away from the evil pee sticks they are a tool from the devil!

Good luck!

I can understand where you are coming from. Heck I havent even done my FET yet (just took my first BC today) and I am already in a panic. It is so hard and so scary to not have control over this. You cant really know what is going on in there and your mind really can race with a million scenerios both good and bad.

I had cramps (implantation pains)and sore boobs and I got a BFP. I even called the nurse because I was scared something was wrong or it had failed. I was surprised because I expected to feel "pregnant" and I had no clue what "pregnant" felt like but was sure I would feel atleast different. The first strange sign was when I sat at my desk and ate a whole bowl of guacamole without blinking. My co-worker walked by my desk and non-chalantly (sp) said your pregnant. I ofcourse didnt believe him.

I know just how you feel. After all the work, the ultrasounds, injections, retrieval etc... all of a sudden you have to just wait and it's really hard. Many of the symptoms you are describing can be attributed to the progesterone you are taking. Hang in there and try to stay positive until you get your blood test. We are all here for you!

No need to despair. FET works almost as well as fresh, and even better than fresh at some clinics.

Hi Kez,
I am totally with you, I lay awake last night so sure I was getting my period, I had all the same pains as I usually have, however nothing happened and I feel fine this morning, however I took a HPT this morning and it was negative, now I am wondering if that is final or weather it is too early???????
I am 11 days post retrieval and 8 days post transfer.
The wait is killing me, I just want to know....
My husband told me to think about something else, I almost clobbered him.......I should have and then I can blame it on the hormones!!!!
I really know how you are feeling
Have a good day

Hi everyone,

Thanks all so much for your kind words of support. After reading through some of the posts I realise that I am not going to feel different, so maybe I should just stop looking for signs

My husband saw my last post and said that I was not driving him mad and gave me a big hug. I guess I really needed that :)

I think I would not be able to cope if it weren't for this site, its great to hear all your stories and I am keeping my fingers crossed for you all too.

Does anyone know if it makes a difference if you have sex or atleast orgasm, TMI I know, but I have heard conflicting views. Some say no and some say it is good as if you do your body naturally expects to get pregnant. I dont know. We didnt last time and I never got pregnant so this time we have so I guess I have no choice but to wait and see. ( Sorry for that  )

Thanks everyone and take care

Hi Kez,
The first time I tried IVF I would not let my husband come near me and it did not work, second time we carried on as normal and it worked, this time I am keeping things as normal as possible, my Dr told me to have as much sex as I wanted, in fact she encouraged it.
I hope this is some help

Hi everyone,

Thanks Karen, that sounds reassuring and makes life appear more normal.

I'm on day 5 now and I'm feeling abit more positive, I dont know why but I am getting a good vibe.

My friend gave birth today to a baby boy and I'm so pleased for her. She didn't go through ivf or anything, but she had a very traumatic ectopic last year and has had a really tough time of it.

Its nice to hear some nice news for a change.
Lets hope this is my turn too!

Hi Kez -

I too had a transfer on May 24th and a friend who gave birth today (to a girl)! I am on the same rollercoaster of emotions and searching/analyzing every feeling in my body. And is it just me or is everyone pregnant or recently gave birth?? It seems babies are everywhere I look and every other add is for maternity wear or HPTs. Hmmmm....wonder if I am just a little selective in what I looking for?

I am finding the best remedy is to keep busy - the busier the better. Which works until I try to sleep?! I am also on the moratorium from sex. My husband is DYING!

Have you told many people that you are trying IVF? I tried not to and seem to not be able to put a lid on it now!

Hi Colleen,

its nice someone had transfer on the very same day.
I definitely know what you mean about everyone having babies.
I work as a nurse on a gynaecology ward, I see pregnant women almost everyday.

I also work with many young women, there were four of us trying for a baby, I was the first and the other 3 got pregnant quite easily, 1 has a baby girl, 1 is due any day now and the other in about 8 weeks. I am very happy for all of them but cant lie that I am envious of them too. We all kept open about it as I told them I would be hurt if they hid it from me.
With each one who got pregnant I did feel alittle sting.
My friend as I said before had had a rough time, but she did add to the list of people pregnant around me.

I also nurse alot of fertility patients on my ward, I guess it makes them feel better to know that they are not alone and even the people looking after them have problems too.

On the sex issue I really wouldn't bother absconding from sex, I dont think it does you or your husband any good. Sex makes you feel happy and as people always say, happy people get pregnant.

I wish you luck and keep me posted.
take care

Hi,
I had my transfer last to last saturday. I am on the same emotional roller coaster ride like you, trying to pick every sign i feel. I did feel cramping on the day 6 and 7 of the transfer. My boobs are big and hurt. But i am not peeinbg a lot. My doctor asks for this symptom every time i talk to her. IS that really important. Should i be peeing a lot now. I havent tested yet. Doctor said come tonite or tomorrow morning. I am just not ready yet, i feel. I want to wait till Saturday, which is the day 14 of the transfer.

I am so scared. Just so scared to face the fact what if it is negative......

Hi Anne,

You should go when you feel ready for your test. Unfortunately my clinic only does the hpt, I wish they did the blood test as it would shorten the wait, I have to wait till day 15, I would love to be put out of my misery.

With regard to the peeing, I dont know why your clinic is obsessing about it. Passing water more frequently is usually something that starts maybe 3 to 4 weeks into pregnancy, so I would ignore that advise and dont worry if your not peeing alot.

I think we have enough to worry about, constantly looking for signs without your clinic giving you something else to worry about.

You take care and try to relax, and good luck with your test.

Kez-
Good Luck to you.
My timing is similar I had a transfer on May 22 so I am now 8dp5dt.

I am really going nuts. It seems like HPTs work for many people by this point although I know they aren't completely accurate at this date yet. I can't help it though so I tried it the last few days and negative.

I am really trying to be positive, but it is getting hard.

I know people say to stay away from the HPTs but I can't help myself. Over the last two years before we started the IVF process I think I am keeping the OPK and HPT companies in business.

I test June 5th, so nearly a week to go to have a definate confirnmation either way.

I am definately going to go crazy between now and then. I can't keep my mind off of it. I even dream about things like HPTs at night and I'm not sleeping well the last 2 nights. My DH tells me not to drive myself crazy. But how?!?

Hi wanttodiscuss,

I too think I am keeping the hpt companies in business. You are a couple of days ahead of me and I wish I were you.
I am now 6dpfet. I have been going insane, I'm off work so I have alot of time on my hands, therefore have been on this site alot.

I totally sympathise with you, you think about it constantly and whatever you are doing it is still there, I think we all must be crazy, but worth it if you get what you want.

I thought the hpt would not pick up hcg till atleast day 10 and I still stupidly did one this morning which of course came up negative. I have 6 more left in the box and I'm sure I will do more, I feel its out of my control.

anyway nice talking to you, take care
