Cycle buddies in March/April anyone?

Post by angram »

chelly180 - Welcome to the board! I just started acupuncture this week, but not really sure if there are lots of advantages other than relaxation. I've heard it can help with infertility, so I'm for trying just about anything right now.

esperanza - Good luck with the PIO injections and the transfer will be here before you know it.

J&C - That is excellent news on transferring 3 embies, I'm looking forward to hearing about your BFP!!

boluwa2008 - 2 embies is great and we'll be so excited to see your BFP as well!

IrishHope - Welcome to the board and good luck with the FET.

Neffi - That is terrific that you had 18 eggs, excellent news! Let us know how the fertility repot turns out, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

DrJen - I also get quite annoyed when people tell me I could pregnant if I would just relax! If only it were that simple :)

rlk1 - Sat/Sun will be here before you know it and I totally understand about wanting to get the party started!!

Nothing new for me, just waiting around for the next b/w & u/s. DH gave me my first gonal f injection (slow release study) yesterday afternoon, so we don't go back until next Monday afternoon. The study does not allow any additional injections until the 6th day, so no need in going in until then. My RE did not tell me exactly how many follies I had, but I could see at least 8-9 on the screen, which is good news. I'm just praying my follies enjoy the low-dosage meds and grow like crazy. Off to my 2nd round of acupuncture tomorrow afternoon, so hopefully that will work too.

PMA, PMA, PMA :D :D

Hey Everyone – Well, I’m 1 day into the 2ww, and I’m realizing that this is going to be a super long 2 weeks. I’m overanalyzing everything with my body. I stayed home and rested today also, and I felt hot, then normal, then hot, then normal. Good grief...gotta love the hormones.

I’m super happy that we’ve mastered, at least so far, the PIO shot. It’s been a breeze every night, and I have absolutely no pain. I’ll take that any day that I can get it.

angram - WHAT????? Only 1 shot for 5 days - SIGN ME UP FOR THAT!!!! :D Grow, follies, grow!

Neffi - 18 eggs is such a great #.....now we just need them ALL to fertilize. Let us know about that fert. report. And look at all of the pretty colors on your last post.....LOVE IT!

J&C - Yep, it's a Gonal F study and it's a long lasting (or something like that) release injection. The study is randomized and the options are something like 150, 100, and 50 of whatever measurement they use. Their computer randomizes your dose, and I unfortantely received the lowest dosage possible. You get one shot and it slowly releases for 5 days, then you can get a maximum of Gonal F 150/day injections after that. We're really hoping these follies grow, grow, grow!! I'm all about the one shot as well, since after 9 IUI's I'm starting to feel like a pin cushion :D We're still on daily lupron injections, but I do feel fortunate to only have one shot per day right now.

Oh Anie-- Im so sorry to hear your news! Take time to relax and heal! I will be thinking about you today! Are you planning on doing another cycle??? I was kinda the same....we have two frosties from last cycle, but they aren't the best quality, so because of shared risk, we opted to do another fresh cycle...I didnt think they would make it through the thawing! Let us know how you are doing when you're feeling up to it!

Angram - I see you have Endo Stage II - as do I. Just curious what your RE has told regarding IVF success...my RE has told us all positive / almost to where after my first failed IVF I feel like he's "over simplifying my endo"...but that could just be my "fear" of never seeing a BFP! Thanks in advance...

Hi all--

I have a big final today, so I can't write much (need to cram in as much as possible before the exam). But...I wanted to lend support to Anie. I'm so sorry to hear about how things worked out. These procedures can be so emotionally draining. I hope you take time for yourself these next few days. Let us know what plan B is. HUGS!!!

Talk to the rest of you after my exam!!

Anie - I'm so sorry your embies did not make it. You're in my prayers.

IrishHope - I was diagnosed last March with Endo stage II and I ended up getting pregnant via IUI 4 days after my laporascopy. That was my only BFP and it ended up chemical. I had another laporascopy done this past January and had Endo stage I this time, but they took care of everything and said I looked great. This was done by another RE, but my current RE thinks everything looks great as well and said I shouldn't have any problems conceiving via IVF. He's seems pretty confident, so I'm trying to keep the PMA as well.

Did they give you any reasons as to why your first IVF may have failed? I know there are so many reasons, but just wondering if they thought it was the endo or maybe your eggs?

angram - thanks for responding! It is nice to read your post and see your RE feels pretty much how all along my OBGYN and RE feel.
We meet 3/26 w/ our RE to discuss our failed cycle - BFN 3/7/08. I can't imagine it was our eggs - 22 retrieved, 13 fertilized, 5 froze - 2 put in werre 8 cell and a 9 cell of "top" grading by the clinic...the embryologist was so positive and told us we should expect positive results...

why I am so scared my endo is causing implantation issues or "immune" issues and fighting embryos off as foreign "bodies"...all my tests, FSH, hormone levels, DH sperm we are good...only leaves the endo...

I had a lap in November to be sure things looked good/clean up and my RE removed NOTHING. Took pics and said my insides looked on a scale of 1 to 10 - a 10...so a failed IVF was hard b/c nothing to look to as the reason...

Hello.

Just want to say Thank you for all your support.

Although i knew that there is a big IF of embryos survival chance, we always have that hope that everything will be ok.

The next step is to go for a fresh cycle in may/june or june/july.

I wish a BFP to all of you.

Anie :)

Understanding failed IVF

Post by DrJen »

IrishHope-I also had a BFN with my first IVF (4IUI's=BFN). I have endo, but my RE does not think this is causing a problem. I had 2 excellent blastocysts transferred on day 5. Everyone thought I would have a BFP. My BFN made me question there was something wrong that no one found. My RE and nurse both said there is no reason it should not work for us and each cycle results in success 50% of the time, not 100%. I was under alot of stress during that cycle, so this time I am doing acupuncture and massage every other week and hoping it helps. I plan to do IVF#2 in April. We had no blasts that survived to freeze. So, I understand your feelings and concerns.

DrJen- Thank you so much too for responding! Geeez seems like we have similar situations - produce good quality embryos just have to get one (or two  ) to implant! My DH has tried to calm me and say we had a 50/50 shot and that it just wasn't our turn...I did acupuncture last cycle - it helped relax me but in general my work is stressful and my nurse at my clinic stresses me out so I think #2 I will have DH handle all the phone calls w/ her to try and reduce my stress!

Good luck to you & thanks again for responding!

IrishHope - You'd think that if they did a recent lap and found nothing out of the norm that endo would not be the problem, but I'm not sure about immune issues and if that is discoverd some other way. I'm so sorry to hear that everything was perfect and ended up in a BFN, but maybe your RE can give you some other thoughts at your next appt.

They've been unable to figure out why after 9 IUI's I was only able to get pregnant once (chemical), so I'm just hoping there were some traveling issues with either the egg and sperm and that putting them together will help.

I'll be thinking of you and wish you the very best of luck!!

DrJen - I'm sorry to hear you're in the same situation as IrishHope and hopefully the acupuncture and massages will help you this time around. I'm also doing acupuncture 2x week, with hopes that this helps me calm down a bit. It seems nothing can take our minds off of the process, but hopefully relaxation methods will help.

You're both in my thoughts and I cannot wait to hear the good news of your BFP's!!
