Negative HPT at 7dp3det...is there still hope?

Post by LucyZ »

I am 41 and had my first IVF. We have been ttc for 3 years with 3 miscarriages. We transferred 1- 8 cell grade 4 (4 being the best), 2- 8 cell grade 3 and 1- 7 cell grade 3. I took a HPT test today 7 days past my 3 day transfer on a strong HPT. Unfortunately it was negative. I do not have any symptoms at all. Is there still hope that I may get a BFP? Also, 4 days past transfer I had stabbing pains on my lower left side, could this be from the PIO shots? It only lasted about 45 seconds. Thank you for any help.

Lucy-

I have no idea as I am new here. But I wanted to send you out some good wishes. I have read on here that sometimes it can take up to 10 days though, so maybe that offers some hope!

I believe there is still hope. Essentially you tested 10 days post "ovulation" or 4 days before your "missed period." Most test are can be accurate on the day you missed your period, but they are less accurate before that. You could try waiting a couple of days (as hard as that is) and testing again.

I found this article on HPT accuracy helpful:

http://www.womenshealth.gov/faq/pregtest.htm

From a true HPT junkie, GOOD LUCK!

Hi, I didnt get a positive hpt until 7dp6dt so you being 7dp3dt, id say give yourself atleast 4 more days. Even if your little embie implanted you have to give s/he time to make those hcg hormones that will sustain your pregnancy until the placenta is fully develop. But i do not blame you for worrying, i did, your human, its what we do. But dont count yourself out. These hpt dont pick up hcg sometimes until its atleast 50. And wheni went in for my beta on the same day i snuck and hpt, my beta was a 50. no wonder when i tested a day earlier with the hpt it didnt pick it up!

Best wishes

Just to echo e1's thoughts - I too am a poas addict....and I've never gotten a bfp that early, try again in a few days or just wait for the beta, since it's most accurate. It also really depends on what kind of hpt you're using and how sensitive it is.

Testing so early only sets you up for added stress. IT"S TO EARLY!!! I don't know how many people I've seen on here get all worked up cause it was a BFN prior to 10dpt. It's just to early. No matter what HPT you bought it's to early. the added stress is not helping you relax and allowing your babies to settle into their new home.

I am convinced that HPT's are the spawn of all evil here in the IVF world. Guys just relax.. have some faith and WAIT! As much as we all hate it.. we have to sit back and let nature take it's course.

You have hope.. lots of hope. It's early.. VERY early and you'll be fine as long as you don't allow yourself to stress out over this.
