Just curious...
How many of you did an hpt prior to your beta? If you tested, how early was it? Was it accurate?
After 5 gazillion IUI's, I gave up testing. This is different though! Do I wait for the beta to be suprised? Do I do a hpt to know before hand? Have the fun of seeing "Pregnant" or prepare myself for the dissapointment of a bfn before the lab calls with the results????
My oh my... this is harder than I thought.
What did you do?

Onemorebaby: I was fine the first week of waiting but the second has been so much harder for me. Of course I bought like 4 HPT's and I POAS this morning and got a BFN. I'm trying to stay positive because it's 8 days post tranfer and my BETA test is on Monday. I'm kind of addicted to the HPT now. How many days post transfer are you?

Torillachip, I am a little behind you... 6 days past 3 day transfer.
Are you a 3day or 5 day transfer? My beta is on thursday.
The last few days I have been dying to do a hpt... today for some odd reason I feel more okay, relaxed. I hope it lasts till next week!

Mine was a 3 day transfer. I would try to wait until Tuesday or Wednesdsy to POAS because it's too soon to detect anyway. Good luck!

Hey tortillachip and onemorebaby. I too am dying to POAS but know its too early. I am only 5 days post 3 day transfer and the 2WW is killing me. My beta is on Friday 8/8. Haven't had any spotting but then there has been grumbling in my belly. Not really cramping but still afraid that it means AF is coming. Plus, I have been very emtionally the last few days. I figure that I will maybe POAS Thursday.
Wishing you both BFP on Monday and Thursday.

Looking forward to updates!!!!!

Ladies, it is like you are reading my mind! unbelievable!!! I am only 3 days post ET and have Beta on thursday. I am not feeling anything at all! no cramps, no tender bbs, no nausea...I think it is too early and if I give in and POAS it will just frustrate me more. Im gonna try and hold out! Good luck to you all!

Hi Girls ~
When I went through IVF I caved and POAS 9 days past 3 day transfer. It was positive and I POAS every day until my beta. I think I tested as early as can be indicated, I wouldn't advocate testing any earlier. I am preggers with twins, which is why I think my test came back so positive so early.
Good luck!

Jen,
That is what I *think* I want to do! If there were some magic way I could just
*know* that it would come back positive, I would test as early as I think I could.

I'm a poas addict and will tell you there are real pro's and con's. In my 3rd cycle, I POAS every day from 6dp3dt - and drove myself bonkers in the process. I finally got the positive the evening of 8dp3dt but it was so faint I could hardly see it so I questioned it. The next day was my real beta and at 9dp3dt my beta result was 46...my point being that even with a real sensitive hpt, they don't pick up the hcg levels very early in a consistent way. So, I can't say "don't do it", since I'm the worst example, but be prepared that there are lots of false negatives with early HPTs.... If you do decide to test, I'd recommend getting the most senstive hpt possible - - the internet cheapies are probably the most senstive for the price point.
I wish you all the best - good luck!

You ladies are too funny! Okay, to ease your lovely minds. You can test 4-5 days before your beta to get a preliminary result. Before then you could still be getting a false positive from the HcG injection. First morning urine and let sit 5 minutes!!!!! Please remember as I said preliminary. The first two weeks after implantation is crucial to the development of the pregnancy. A lot of pregnancies implant, but for unknown reasons fail to continue developing, so thats why we ask our patients not to test or to wait for the serum "level/numbers" because that is the only way at this early stage to determine if the pregnancy is developing at a normal rate. Spotting is common, so is cramping...your ovaries are still very enlarged! Constipation is also common as well as SWEARING your AF is coming. You will not get AF while on progesterone. I hope this helps! I feel for you. Although I am an IVF nurse I will be starting my IVF cycle in 3 weeks so I will be freaking with you too! Good Luck.

Your questions are not silly.....I'm just laughing because I will be just as worried when I go through this in 5 weeks and my knowledge and experience go out the window. I am just happy to help!
