Alexis - I just have my ER this morning, so I should be in my 2ww starting tomorrow (if all goes well and I do transfer any fertilized eggs).

They got 5 mature eggs from my ER. Although I would have preferred a larger #, I hope *they're* correct in that it only takes one good egg.

I should know more when they call me tomorrow with the news on how many fertilized and how many are doing okay. I'm praying all 5 make it!

For those of you who haven't gone through it yet, the ER went fine. I got there at 7:45 AM and was the second one in line for the procedure. They did some paperwork, put in an IV and then I waited until the procedure room was ready. I went in about 8:45 AM and was out in the recovery area 45 minutes later. So far, the most painful thing was the medicine going into my IV that knocked me out for the procedure. THAT BURNED! But it only hurt my wrist and hand (where the IV was) for 2 minutes until I konked out. Then I felt nothing. And now, 8 hours and a nap later, I feel a little (very little) crampy down there, but nothing else. I don't even need tylenol. I hope my recovery stays this easy. And I'm writing this for all of you who might be nervous (like I was) about the ER. It was a piece of cake!

And, while I'm at it, I thought the lupron and follistim injections weren't bad, either. I got used to them early on in the process. And I had my 1st PIO shot today after the ER and my DH was a champ! The needle going into my backside didn't hurt at all. And I expected the progesterone to burn going in, but I felt nothing! I hope that keeps up, too (since I hope to be doing daily shots for the next 6-8 weeks)!

Good luck to everyone! May we all get our BFPs!

rsdrisco: Glad to hear that your ER was a piece of cake. Now those little embies just need to be fertilized and keep growing:) How many fertilized? I hope all 5 did! When will you have your ET?

Lauren526: How did your ER go? When is/was your ET? How did everything go?

Hopeful_009: You had your ER already, right? How was it? When do you transfer?

Cuppycake: Good luck with your ER on Wednesday...let us know how it goes!

Stay Positive: How are you doing? When do you start your injections?

Saunagirl: How are you doing? Any updates?

As for me, I'm still in my 2ww. It takes FOREVER! I am also wide awake at 3:45am my time. I don't know why, but I have had terrible insomnia that last few nights. Has anybody else had that on the prometrium suppositories? I just started getting hot flashes on it as well.

I will take another test this morning (hopefully once I get up for the day for real). I am so hoping the line will be darker today! It seemed very slightly darker yesterday than the day before (but still hardly noticable). I still wonder if I'm imagining it because I want it to be there so much!

Baby dust to you all! :D

Hey Girls!

Sorry I haven't posted anything since my retrieval/transfer. Things have been kind of rough, and I haven't been up to much... But here I am! I had a great retrieval, and had 9 eggs retrieved (8 mature.) I got VERY sick for about 24 hours after the retrieval because of the meds given during the procedure. 5 of my eggs were fertilized using ICSI, and I had a 4 day transfer (3 days would have been Sunday) yesterday. We transferred 3 embryos... one was 12 celled and beautiful, the other 2 were 8 celled, and not spectacular.

I also was diagnosed with Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome. I have been in constant pain in my abdomen. My ER gave me painkillers to take, and instructed me to take one after the transfer... Needless to say, I got sooo sick again!!! AAH! I am wondering if you girls have heard anything about vomiting after a transfer, and whether it will effect my chances of keeping one of those babies?!?! I am kind of freaking out. My nurse said it will not effect it at all, but I am just very worried. Also, has anyone else had OHSS?

Sorry if I sound like I am whining. I have just had a rough few days and needed to vent a bit. I am just hoping and praying every second that I get a BFP.

Cuppycake:
Good luck tomorrow with your retrieval! Just relax! The procedure is not that bad!

I am happy to be joining those of you in the 2ww!

Lauren526: I'm sorry to hear you have not been feeling well. I don't have any experience with the vomiting and knowing if that will effect anything. I don't know much/have experience with the OHSS either...sorry! That's fantastic that you were able to transfer 3 embryos!!! Welcome to the 2ww!!!

Hi Ladies!! I am out of the 2ww with a BFP and am waiting for my first U/S on the 22. I had OHSS after the ER...it really hurts...I was prescribed Cabergoline as they had anticipated that this would occur...A hot water bottle also helped and I felt better before my ET which was on the third day....kept getting better in the first week after ET, but about 3 days before my Beta test, the OHSS symptoms started to appear again. and today 3 days after my beta test, ie 17 days after ET, I am still bloated with a lot of fluid retention but the doc said that if u can cope, no need to drain it...I am quite uncomfortable and wonder when the OHSS symptoms will be over?

lauren526 - I don't think vomiting after ER or ET would affect your results. I can't imagine how it would. Try not to worry (I know, easier said than done)! That's awesome they transferred 3 embryos! Did you have any left over to freeze (if you planned on doing that)? I have no experience with OHSS and definitely didn't experience it since I only had 6 follicles develop, but I've heard it can be quite painful. Stay in touch with your RE if things get worse.

alexis - I just heard this morning that out of the 5 eggs they retrieved yesterday, 4 were mature. And as of this morning, all 4 fertilized. I am so psyched! I was pretty worried when they only got 5 eggs, but as long as the 4 that fertilized keep growing well over the next couple of days, I'll be happy with the outcome. My Embryo Transfer is scheduled for Thursday at 1:00 PM (3 day transfer due to the small amount of eggs retrieved).

cuppycake - Good luck with your ER tomorrow. I was sore and uncomfortable yesterday after mine, but didn't even need a tylenol. So I expect yours will go smoothly, too!

sara73 - I heard OHSS gets better after ET and then worse again after a successful pregnancy (due to the hCG in the system). Did you get a + beta and I just don't remember reading it in a post?

As I mentioned above, my ER was yesterday and I feel almost 100%. Much better than yesterday! I could go to work today, but I will be lounging around instead. A girl has to pamper herself sometime, right? I'll also be taking off Thurs and Fri this week for ET, so it looks like a nice one day work week for me! If only that could be my normal work schedule.

Thanks for the input and support, ladies!!!! I am feeling pretty crampy today, but not the OHSS kind of tightness I had felt, actually, that is feeling a bit better. Just more like menstrual cramps today. I feel like there is so much news to comment on!!

-acornmom- CONGRATS on TWINS! That is incredible! You must be so excited!!!

-sara73- CONGRATS on your BFP! I hope to be in your shoes in 13 days! My ER did say that if OHSS symptoms come back in a week or so, that can be very good news! I guess that was your case!

-rsdrisco- 4/5 fertilized, that is wonderful! Let us know how they progress!

lauren526: I'm glad you are feeling a bit better today...that is great news!

sara73: Congrats on your BFP! It seems like there are so many positives this month...it makes me so excited and hopeful to join the club of BFP!!

rsdrisco: That's great news that 4/5 fertilized! All you need is one good one to stick:) Good luck with your ET on Thursday. It's amazing how the ET is such a piece of cake...it's over so quickly! Hopefully you will get a picture of your little embryos:)

AFM, I keep taking home pregnancy tests every day and it seems like there is a line indicating positive. It seemed slightly more noticable than yesterday, but it's still no where near as dark as the control line. Did anybody else experience this? I am excited and yet, I feel like I'm guarding my excitement until my beta test on Thursday. I want it to be positive so badly!

Have a great day ladies!

Hi ladies,

SO much good news!!!

sara73: CONGRATS! YEA!! Such good news. Does it make the OHSS worth it?! (LOL)

acornmom: Also, CONGRATS, twice! Twins---what great news! Would love to be in your position (have wanted twins since I was 11 years old). Keep us posted and enjoy your great news!

rsdrisco: Only a few days until your ET...glad to hear that you had 4 fertilize...that's a good number in my opinion, given that most clinics won't put more than 3 back in. Here's putting the good thought on those little guys (gals??) for your ET!

lauren526: Sorry to hear of your ills...yuck. Sounds like you may be extra sensitive to any kind of pain killer and/or anesthesia. And OHSS also---man, you've had your fill for awhile! We are also using ICSI, so I will be very curious as to your results. Will definitely put the good thought on you during the 2ww. I hope your symptoms calm down--it sounds so uncomfortable. But of course, it will all be worth it if you get a BFP!!!

AFM, I am just here, taking birth control pills everyday and waiting for the real fun to begin. I start injections on the 19th and stims on the 21st. Will be going to my clinic next week for a crash course in injection-giving and also to meet with the genetic counselor, given the chromosomal testing that we will have done. Then a baseline u/s and b/w next Wednesday. So, I pretty much feel exactly the same and I'm trying to NOT take it for granted!! Will keep all of you in my thoughts!

Getting ready for retrieval on friday june 12, 2009

Post by abogenpohl » Tue Jun 09, 2009 6:15 pm

:) Hello ladies out there. I am 29 yrs old my hubby 28. We are currently going through our 2nd ivf cycle. Our last cycle ended in miscarriage unfortuanately :( :( !!! We have suffered 4 losses starting with our first Sept 3, 2004 :(. We conceived naturally our first time, the second and third with clomid, and of course the fourth with ivf. We have underwent several attempt of clomid, fsh therapy, and failed IUI's without any success. So we are at the bottom of the barrel trying the IVF praying to God that this will be the cylcle that works for us.
April 9, 2009 I started the Aygestin BC  took it til May 11, 2009. I had started Lupron May 8, 2009 did trial transfer on may 19, 2009. My stimulation meds of lupron, menopur and follistim began on May 29, 2009. I have been going for blood work and ultrasound ever other day since June 6, 2009  . And we are looking for retrieval on friday June 12, 2009 :D .
I have had to decrease follistim I had 11 follicles on sunday 6th with my estradiol level 1068. Yesterday june 8th I had 24 follicles measuring anywhere between 12-14 and my big one 18. my estradiol level was 1764!! I had to decrease down to 50 of follistim and went for bloodwork and ultrasound today and awaiting call from the dr for furthur instructions on my meds and appts, but they already told me that friday would be the big day!!
I'm very nervous and excited all at the same time. With our failed cycle in January, tons hormones in me, and the fear of the unknown I'm just a mess at this point!!!! Glad :o to hear that there are others out there facing my challenges of just wanting to be a mother and having empty arms to deal with!!! but then again Im deeply saddened :( to know that there are others that have the heart breaking trials to face too. May god bless you all!!!!!

:) The insomnia with prometrium is very common atleast for me it was. I had taken it with my first round of ivf and girl it was like energy at one moment and soooo tired the next!!!

My ER was yesterday and like you guys all said it was a piece of cake i didnt feel anything they retreived 25 eggs :) which makes me a good candidate for OHSS. But as i mentioned before my husband has very low sperm so even after the biopsy the doctor couldnt find any sperm we had a rough day yesterday with the waiting we spent like 6 hours in clinic hoping for some good news and after a lot of praying and crying the doctor found a few sperms i think 6-7 in his sample...i hope the sperms are good enough to fertilize my eggs everybody please pray...God listned to our prayers yesterday and i hope He'll continue to bless us till the end. The doctor will call today to tell us how many eggs fertilized.

acornmom: congratulations on having twins. :):)...i love twins i find them adorable...best of luck with your pregnany.

cuppycake - I'm glad to hear your ER wasn't bad. I hope you don't get OHSS. And I'm sorry you and your husband had such a bad go of it yesterday. Let's hope the rest of your journey is completely uneventful until you get that BFP in a couple of weeks!

I haven't gone to my ET yet. It's today at 1:00 PM EST. I'm excited, but also scared we will get there and be told no embryos made it. But I am trying to remain positive and not think of the worst that can happen, as it is completely out of my control.
