Gecko- Provera is well, I guess. No real side effects, and I think I only have 2 or 3 more nights of it and then I guess af will come.

tangela- glad to hear things are moving along for you.

kayce- congrats on 6 follies, sounds like everything is going well so far.

babiesgalore- I am leaving a week from Thursday, I think that is the 9th, the wedding is on saturday the 11th. We will drive home on sunday the 12th. It will be a crazy weekend as DH and I are both in the wedding party, so Ella will probably fuss all day with whoever she is with. She is pretty attached to me right now. DH will actually be on vacation, so we could go for longer, but I am not sure I want to be gone for longer than that. This last trip for the shower was also 4 days and I think longer would have been too much for everyone. I am gonna miss you guys when I go, Last time I was able to check in on the boards, but this time I will be so busy, I am not sure I will be able to check much.

ok, off to bed...good night all.

Hi ladies - yay, a July/August thread! For those of you I haven't met, this is going to be my 2nd IVF. I was also cycling April/May, and ended up with a BFP chemical, which was pretty hard to deal with. We have two frosties, but we decided to do another fresh cycle and save them for later. DH has three teenage kids from a previous marriage (vasectomy, failed reversal), and two of them will be spending July with us. It's going to be stressful enough having them over (girls ages 17 and 14), so we are waiting until that is over with to start. I'm waiting on AF (next weekend, I think), then it's bcp time, so I won't be starting lupron until the end of July or early August.

CT_Michele - I'm really sorry for your delay, although I'm happy to see you on this thread. I know I was upset when I got delayed due to the stress with the kids, but then I got to thinking maybe it was good for my body to take another month off. I still haven't lost the (ugh) nearly ten pounds I gained from the last try, so maybe I can work part of it off in July. Eeek.

1st IVF- May 09 - BFP - Chemical :(

July/August Cycle

Post by fkm7783 » Tue Jun 30, 2009 10:59 pm

Hi Ladies-
Hope I can join. I am new to this forum. We have been trying for 3 years. Just started my BCP and will be on them till first week of August b/c we are going to Europe for 2 weeks. Hoping for successful transfer at the end of August. Really hopeful that fresh cycle #2 will be a BFP...please when will it be our turn? Has anyone experienced multiple chemical pregnancies and had a successful pregnancy? Any help/advice would be much appreciated. Good luck to everyone who is starting the awful shots:(

IUI #1: BFP (chemical pregnancy)
Several IUI's: BFN
IVF #1: BFP (chemical pregnancy AGAIN)
2 FET's: BFN

fkm- welcome to the boards. So are you doing another fresh this time, or an FET? Europe sounds like a great vacation...where are you from?

stats- so glad to see you here! I really hope the extra month will be what both of us need and we will both have success. I know those teenagers are gonna stress you out...I hope you can enjoy yourself at least a little bit. I have given up on the weight for a while. I try to be good, but honestly, my bfn was so hard and ivf has just taken it's toll, that I just want to eat and be happy. I am already overweight...and I will lose it someday, but for now, no more stress, which includes strict diets. I just have to destress for this next try.

babiesgalore- have fun in annapolis! Where are you from again?

Hi ladies. I am trying to decide if I should put off my FET. We got a contract on our house and so we will be getting ready to move Aug 11. From my calculations I should be doing ET the first week of August. I Kinda want to pack the house in july and go for it since its planned and just not lift afterwards. Or take 2 months of BCP and do it in septemeber. The only thing about that is I have a trip to Chicago planned early October and I wanted to be further along by then. And I dont want to be due so into the summer( it would be like july)

Do you think its a bad idea to do it now? Do you think i'd be to stressed? Im sure we will get movers and by then we will have a house picked out and we should be just getting ready sorta waiting. I'm torn. I feel like I want to go for it but dont want to make a costly wrong decision.

Oh boy...2 katies!

Katie99- of course there is room for one more! I will probably add you to the list tomorrow since it is getting so late tonight. There are quite a few of us from the june/july thread going at this again...so nice to see familiar names.

KatieG- I would be torn too. I can totally understand wanting to be stress free for this costly procedure, but one thing I have learned is that I can not control any thing. I have learned there is no perfect stress free time, because something always comes up. With me is has been one thing after another on top of all my delays. First work, then family problems, my brother's wedding, my mom in law in the hospital, I have just come to the conclusion that I am going to try as quickly as possible and when I know for sure my transfer is coming, nothing else will matter, even if I come off like a selfish b*tch for a month, I don't care, this is too expensive and important to worry about anything else. So if I were in your position, I would probably plan ahead, help pack everything I could and then wash my hands of the move and get lots of boys to help or hire a movers. Because what happens if you delay, get through the move and then something else comes up? I have had enough natural delays without any postpones from myself...so that is completely just my opinion, and obviously this is a big decision for you. I guess I am just passionate about it because I am such a planner, at first I was thinking I would be 4 months pregnant right now, delivering by christmas, then I got my hopes up for delivery on my b-day next april, now maybe by my husband's b-day??? All I know is that I can not plan this one, I need to just go with the flow and work around it and hope to get pregnant whenever.

Just my 2 cents.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. It is always nice to know you all have room for one more, or several more at the rate we are going! This is great!!

So I went to my appointment yesterday and was given the whole view of what will be going on. My Dr did a "if you started today this is how your cycle would look" on a calendar for us. (Obviously if we have the perfect cycle, I realize it may not go that way) So now I am more excited then nervous. It really made it feel like this is happening and that is exciting. So on July 15th we go for our how to on our meds (which I thought was yesterday but they like to do it close to when you start so you dont forget) SO if my AF comes next week like it is supposed to I take my first Lupron shot in 3 weeks!! SO EXCITING!!! I can't stop saying EXCITING!! It is hard not to get your hopes up but when both of your Dr continuely tell you that you are "text" book and that they would be surprised if it doesnt take, it is hard not to. Then they of course cover themselves and say...."But we don't GTD it" Which I know. I have to start being realistic and know that it might not happen on the first try. Is it wrong for me to talk myself out of hopes?? I want to be hopeful but I dont want to set myself up for dissappointment. They said b/c of my age - 26 - that I have a 40% chance of pregnancy which before it was 30% before they considered my age...so that is cool! 27% twins.

Sorry for the long winded post, it feels good to tell people who are going through it and not just lending an ear, which is good too!! I have one friend who has just been amazing through this and the others just ask b/c they feel like they have to. The one has 2 kids and the other just had her son in April so they dont get it and I realize that. The one that has been great is pregnant but she went through IUI and ended up getting preg naturally, so she understands what its like to "think" you cant have kids on your own!!

Anyway, I am done blabbing! Again thanks for "listening"
When I get better at this I will do personals, I am still figuring out who is who! haha

Hope everyone is having a great day and can't wait to keep reading up on everyone's updates!!
OH and stupid question...what does STICKY mean???

CT - I live in DC so annapolis is only 45 mins away. Not in the mood to fly anywhere over the holiday weekend.

fkm and Katie99 - welcome to this board. Katie, i have been reading u're posts on the other thread. Why did they cancel u're cycle? can u share with us some of the things u should have done differently? i am always eager to learn. i am now going with the attitude that it is out of my hands..if it meant to be it will happen. I have had too many disspointments!

KatieG - i agreee with CT on this. Something or the other will always come up so since u've already started this i would go thru with it but again this is my 2 cents. u need to do what will work best for u!

Penny - glad to see all that PMA! go girl! also great to hear the doctor tell u that! keep being positive!

Joining your thread. FIRST TIME IVF

Post by jamie3777 » Wed Jul 01, 2009 1:43 pm

Hi My name is Jamie and I am 32 years old. My DH is 26 years old. I have 3 kids from previous marriage and also had a tubal ligation from previous marriage. NOw hubby and I want one of our own. We had a reversal in 2006 and became pregnant right away, but it ended in a ruptured ectopic. Now 3 years later we are trying MICRO IVF in hopes to have a baby. We have already done the tests and everything is good to go. I had my baseline ultrasound yesterday an the Dr said everything looked good. So I start BCP's tomorrow for 10 days, and then I will go back in for a ultrasound and start Bravelle on July 14th for 6 days. Retrieval is July 24/25th and transfer is July 27/28/29th. We will know after I start the stims. I am so nervous and excited at the same time. The Dr seems very optimistic, as I am still young and we have no other fertility issues. Welcome July Ladies. I wish you all BABY DUST.

The crazy thing is I think I want to move forward but I wanted to make sure it wasnt a terrible idea/ My SIL said it would be a terrible idea b/c moving is soo stressful. But she doesnt understnad the process so I cant really rely on just her. She just moved so she knows but they had a crazy situation. Plus she doesn't get this whole thing. Ok well Well everyone Im glad this thread has taken off/ Penny im your age and IVF worked for us first time. I was convinced I had BFN. So keeping a good outlook is the best way to go fully understanding it may not go your way but regardless dont give up!!

Hi ladies -

I swear I have checked for my AF like 20 times today. So very annoying!
I feel like I got gypped being cancelled in june, plus looking at my half-full box of meds is making it worse. I need some patience dust or something. I hope all of you are doing well since we are all in the same boat. The waiting is the hardest part.

Penny - "sticky" refers to wishing someone luck with implantation. Like hoping that the embie sticks to the uterine lining. My doc is in PA also. In Allentown actually. It stinks that its a 2 hr drive for me, but I love this doc, totally trust his advice. Your doc sounds nice, I love when they take the time to explain what they are doing & why. :D

Babiesgalore - There really wasnt anything I could have done differently in the last cycle. My RE had me on a med to block estrogen for 40 days in an effort to "starve" endometrial tissue. In my 1st try at IVF at my ER they aspirated endo tissue as well as eggs! YUK! So apparently the estrogen blocker (Arimidex ) worked too well as I only ended up with 1 follie. My RE said the best thing was to have 1 normal AF then get back on the IVF roller coaster. :D

Michele - thanks for the list :D

Cheekyone - love love love your screen name :D

Kayce - GROW FOLLIES!!! your numbers sound great!! :D

KatieG - Kudos to you! You are a brave woman to do this with all that you have on your plate right now! I hate moving! It is sooo stressful. Although in my world it usually means that I end up doing EVERYTHING except the lifting. Love my DH dearly - but he just isnt organized. I guess it depends on how much help you will have & can you really rest after ET. Good luck with your decision :D

Jamie - What is micro IVF? How does it differ from regular IVF?

ct_michele - I know what you mean about no strict diets. I was really upset after mine didn't work so I ate whatever I wanted and other than that, you can't do anything while you're on those meds anyway, so no exercise for a month. The hard part is that I don't want to buy new clothes right now because I'm hoping the next stuff will be in the maternity section :)

fkm7783 - My first try at IVF was chemical and was absolutely heartbreaking. I think I had prepared myself for it either working or not, but not the grey area of a dropping beta. My clinic seemed to think the chem pregnancy was at least a good sign - means I can get pregnant, just that particular one didn't stick. So I'm hoping try #2 goes better. I think we'll be close to the same schedule if you're not starting any shots until August.

katie99 - The kids come tomorrow and then we are going to Atlanta for the weekend. DH wants me to take more time off the next week and go to Holiday World with them, but I think I am going to stay home. We'll see how Atlanta goes. We have them until the 23rd, so it's just going to be barrels of fun at our house. 17 and 14 are hard ages

katieg - I'd get the movers and go for it - ct_michele is right - there can be enough natural delays as it is.

penny - I made my husband learn to do all the shots becaue I am so squeamish with needles, LOL. I'm hoping he'll be able to do them this time, but he may be traveling some. Eeek.

Everyone else - out of time for personals, but I hope you are all doing well. Welcome to the new members of this board!
