Caffeine - Coffee with IVF?

Post by jcvp » Fri Oct 30, 2009 1:16 pm

What is the acceptable amount of coffee/caffeine to take during IVF? I have cut down to one cup in the morning. Just wondering if I need to stop it completely.

I think there's different advice out there. My RE says that up to 2 cups of coffee a day is fine, but I think others on here have been told to drop it to zero. I switched to decaf earlier this year anyway - I believe my dr. but I figured that if I wasn't successful, I was going to wonder if I should have quit the caffeine.

I cut out caffeine about 5 days into stimming. I don't drink coffee, but I have a couple sodas a day and I didn't even think about it until I saw someone else had posted something about it. I guess in my mind, I would have just stopped when I had the ET. Anyway, my embies were perfect on 5dt and I am currently pregnant, so I think it worked out fine. Good luck!

My doc says that a small cup/day is ok but I cut it out completely because even though I love coffee I don't want to think "what if.." if I get a bfn.

I agree with the other ladies. Unfortunately, doctors dont always know whats best, they're only human. Here is my philosphy:
If you are spending tens of thousands of dollars, years on an emotional roller coaster and trying to create a beautiful miracle....DONT RISK ANYTHING!!!

no lunchment
no seafood
no soft cheeses
no alcohol
no smoking
no caffine
no medicines (except those ok)

did i miss anything?
