Kamaile- OH SAD! You live on a beautiful island but no shellfish??? I hope you get lots of yummy fish? OH I guess that means none of my other fave...crab macadamia wontons at Duke's. Ahhhh.....I love Duke's! We stay very close by there when we fly there. I am assuming you don't live in Waikiki? I love the other parts of the island that aren't as touristy but rarely get a chance to adventure out. :?

Tess - I am so sad for you. I hope you can take the time to grieve your loss and then try again with a positive attitude. Have faith that it will happen for you!

Kamaile - I was told pools were okay, no hot tubs. I think I must have a pretty lenient RE. I am allowed to exercise, have intercourse, lift my toddlers, etc. He told me at this point there is nothing (with-in reason ie. no boxing matches) that I can do to prevent a miscarriage. On the note of sex though, we haven't just because of the progesterone suppositories. It is so not sexy to be leaking white goo.

PA - hope you have a nice visit with the family... soon enough your brats can be running around=)

We are off to the great outdoors tomorrow, campfires and marshmallows... should be fun.

Hi Ladies
Hope everyone had a nice 4th!

I think I need some reassurance. Had a little trip to the ER last night. Had some bleeding (not much) but I also had some severe pain in my lower back. I freaked out a bit because that's how everything happened last time, and the baby didnt make it :( They did and u/s and both babies are great got to hear their heartbeats (which was an awesome surprise!) Still have some bleeding, no better no worse. I see my OB on the 12th. The nurse at ER said that should be fine but to call him and see if he wants me to come in any earlier. Any advice?

Thanks

Hi Everyone,

I haven't been posting much, since I haven't had any news to share, but have been keeping up with everyone else's news.

Question for any of you that have had a unsuccessful or cancelled transfer post a fresh cycle. I'm still waiting for AF to turn up again to start a FET cycle (last AF was 30 May, 12 days after ER when transfer was cancelled on 23 May due to my severe OHSS). Last time it was very light and brief (2 days), and now I'm just waiting in limbo, in THE worst possible mood. Poor DH only has to say the wrong thing to me and I just totally lose it. Like last night I just went completely nuts because DH told his 18yo son that it was fine to redecorate the spare bedroom as a "boys" room but I had planned (and discussed with DH) to turn it into a guest room and then hopefully a nursery. I told DH "Thanks, that's gonna put me in one rotten mood" and then wouldn't talk to him until this morning. The night before we had a massive fight because DH had the butcher cut our steaks with bones in all of them and I don't like my steak on the bone. We didn't end up talking to each other for 6 hours. It's just not like me to be SO completely unreasonable. So is this likely to be some hormonal residue still messing me up from the fresh IVF cycle or am I completely and utterly loosing my mind? HELP!

Kiz

Kiz- I definately think its hormonal...im not sure what you can do about it but im pretty sure things will go back to normal for you soon...

Kitty- sorry to hear that, a friend of mine had some spotting and her dr told her to take it easy, gave her bedrest and it stopped and she is okay now at 7 months pregnant....maybe try to take it easy as much as possible til it stops completely..

kitty - I am sorry that you had a scare. Blood is so scary when you are pregnant. I had a few days of bleeding with my first set of twins, it was right around 11 weeks. I was freaked out it was bright red and it seemed like a lot. It all turned out okay! I am praying that you are just having a little spotting as your body is adjusting to hormones. One more thing you might do is have your doctor run your hormone levels for progesterone and estrogen to make sure you don't need more or less of those.

kizmet - when I did 4 IUI's in a row, I had tons of residual side effects from the drugs. I had to take some time off for cysts and I think I was just as hormonal as when I was stimulating. Your body has been used to all these drugs, so now as they work their way out of your system your body is adjusting to not having them. It is perfectly normal to feel hormonal. I am sorry that you had a fight with your husband, infertility can be so hard on a relationship. Hopefully you start to feel better soon!

I hope everyone else had a great weekend. We spent the fun weekend "camping" in a rustic fire tower cabin. It was a ton of fun and the view was amazing. We let the kids try fishing for the first time, they didn't catch anything, but they had fun trying. We roasted marshmallows and hot dogs over the campfire.

I tried to post some pictures... but obviously I didn't get it right... doh! I will try to fix it tonight.

I go in for my final check with the RE tomorrow... yay! I hope everything looks great!

What a great day! The ultrasound was so amazing, they actually look like little people. Both babies are doing great. I got to see Baby A's head and face and B was sucking his/her thumb. You could also see the babies hand and fingers, it was so wonderful. Both babies were lazing and the doctor wanted them to move around a bit, so he was jiggling the ultrasound machine... fun fun on an internal ultrasound. He did get them to squirm and move though, it was really neat to see!

sigh... no more ultrasounds for me for a good while. I think the OB doesn't do one until 16 weeks, that is a whole 6 weeks away... doh! I will just have to have faith that they are growing well.

Purple- Your ultrasound sounds wonderful! How are you feeling? We are doing the first trimester screening so we will have an ultrasound at 12 weeks on the 20th but after that I will only have one at 20 weeks and that's it! With my daughter we paid to have a 4D ultrasound done at 30 weeks so we may do that again. I cannot imagine going so long without seeing the little one!

Kiz- I hope the hormones wear off for you soon! The whole IVF process just messes so much with our bodies. When I did an insuccessful FET in February I was pretty moody for a while. Part of it is the hormones and part of it is having to go through all we do just to not have it work. It's a lot to handle. It will turn around in time!

Kitty- How are you? Did you check if you can see your OB sooner? Maybe that would give you the reassurance you need. I hope the bleeding has stopped. Maybe you just need to take a few days off your feet and get some rest.

Pafa- How was GA? I bet it was hot! Im in Indiana and the weekend here was so humid and hot I cannot imagine what it was like down south. It always seems like we get the good weather during the week when I am cooped up in an office and then the weekend rolls around and it's too miserable to be outside.

Kamaile- I am surprised your OB said no sex until 34 weeks! Mine released me after 8 weeks! And honestly based on my first pregnancy with my daughter by the time you get to 34 weeks you don't feel like doing that anyway!! You obviously want to listen to your dr but maybe next time you see him you can ask what is reasoning is?

Tess- I hope you are healing and taking some time to feel better. I'm so sorry.

AFM- Well I will be 11 weeks on Monday and I'm a little worried because I have barely gained any weight and I eat nonstop! With my DD I know I had gained about 5 pounds by now. I'm not sure why it is but I am so much more paranoid this time around. I borrowed one of those home dopplers from a friend so I have been using that and that helps ease my mind a tad. It's hard to find the baby and when I do I only catch the heartbeat for a few seconds. Probably because it is still so little. Is anyone else's pg symptoms starting to fade? The past few days I don't feel as nauseas. And I have a little more energy.
My DH and I decided to do the first trimester screening so we have that on eht 20th. Less than 2 weeks and we get to see the little one again. I can't wait! Is anyone else doing the screening?

Good morning ladies!!!!!!!!!! I am happy to hear everyone had a good weekend. :P

Kitty- I had spotting 2 weeks ago on a flight to Ireland. Very scary. I rested and drank LOTS of water and so far everything is ok. Have you heard anything from your OB? We are all praying for you and the babies!

Kamaile- So you get to see your OB today! Awesome! And yours is the same as your RE right? So are you going to get weekly u/s? If so I may move to Honolulu with you for the next 32 weeks! LOL I'm going crazy not knowing if the baby is doing ok.

Purplefish-That is awesome!!! You are so lucky you got to see them both. Is there any way to post a pic? I'm assuming you got one. :)

Pep- I haven't gained any weight either. Actually I have lost 3 lbs. My sister-in-law said she stopped feeling nausious around 12 weeks. I know it's different for everyone but I am sure you will be perfect! As for screening....not sure. My first OB appointment is tomorrow.

AFM- Yes GA was very hot! Not just hot...miserable. I didn't go swimming because the kids play way too rough and have a real problem listening to adults. So I just watched. The in-laws like down in the "gnat belt". It's a section of south GA that has gnats galore! It is so gross just being outside. These gnats just swarm around you and don't leave you alone unless you have a fan. We had some family pictures done which was cool. (Except for the gnats. )
I saw my RE for the last time last week for some blood work. My insurance no longer lets me go to him...sigh. The nurse called and said that they were not happy with my progesterone and estrogen levels and to stay on my meds but they can't prescribe them. I need to talk to my OB. I hope that means everything is ok with the baby. The worrying never really stops does it?
My first OB apt is tomorrow. I just meet with a nurse to get my history and take blood. I don't even get to see the Dr until July 27. It seems so long! I go back to work on the 10th. Here's hoping that the baby does not mind flying now. I haven't had very good luck with work on my last 2 flights. UGH. I really have no problem taking more time off but I'd like to work some so that I can get extra money for decorating the nursery! :)
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

hello everyone!!

Rio- wow its taking a while for it to go down huh? but im sure itll be zero within this week and you can finally move on.

Pafa- yes i saw my OB today and yes he is the same as my RE, he does both (he had 2 offices here in Honolulu)...and yes i get u/s every week....I hate to admit it though cause I know you ladies arent getting to have them as frequently and i feel bad....maybe he does it this way because he is also my RE and he wants to monitor me very closely...btw how much progesterone do you take daily and is it still IM or is it suppositories? I havent had my blood levels checked lately so i dont even know how that is going...maybe i should ask...

Pep23- yups no sex til 34 weeks so im told...i wonder if that means no orgasm or no 'penetration' lol sorry if TMI but im curious but still kinda shame to ask him lol....i guess i will in time.

Hope everyone else is doing great!!

AFM- seen my OB today, saw my bean...he (or she) measured at 9w3d which is right on schedule...HB was strong and he had grown quite a bit....also he was MOVING around in the u/s!!!! couldnt believe it, it was the cutest thing....i feel very fortunate to have an OB that sees my weekly and does U/S every week...but on the flip side, he is more conservative then everyone else's RE and OB's.....like the no sex til 34 weeks, no swimming, no house work (laundry, mopping etc.), no work, and no going out....yes that is correct....i have been under what i call 'house arrest' since my ET...he said i will be able to do more maybe after my 12th week...(i am just lucky that my husband makes enough to support us all since i cant work) so he is VERY VERY conservative...but he has such a high success rate that i just have to listen to him and see if i can be one of his success stories....

Hi everybody

Kamile - your OB and his conservatism makes me laugh (but in a nice way). I think I would also listen to everything he says if he has such a high success rate. :) Congrats on the u/s, you must be stoked.

Rio - here's hoping that next week you'll be down to a big fat '0'! I know that I'm about to go through the same frustrating process. Everything seems to be a waiting game in IVF no matter how you look at it.

PA-FA - I can imagine that the worrying never stops. I'm sure that your little he or she is just fine. All the best starting work again. I'd give anything to give up work at the moment - lots of nasty team dynamics going on that I just can't be bothered with. It's amazing how one new person in the team can mess up everything if they're not a team fit!

Pep - you must be very exciting about your screening u/s in a couple of weeks. Thank you for your comment - I am healing well and think I have my head in the right place now. :)

Purplefish - your u/s sounds amazing. Your camping trip sounded great too and would love to see some pics if you're able to.

Kitty - are you okay? I'm thinking about you and hoping that everything is fine.

Kismet - I had the rage the other night. I was so irritable and angry with everyone and everything! I went to bed early and asked DH not to talk to me, touch me or anything. I was so wound up. I had a good sleep and woke up feeling much better the next day. IVF is physically and mentally a hard journey but worth it in the end if the outcome is a lovely healthy baby.

I saw a RE yesterday - the clinic I go to has several RE's. You only get to see your own RE a few times through each cycle. My own RE is more than a little on the good looking side so he is extremely popular with the ladies. I have seen the RE that I saw yesterday a couple of times and quite like him. He's obviously a fertility geek and is pretty straight up about things whilst also taking your own welfare into account. I had another u/s just to make sure that the sac had not grown since last week (which it hadn't). He suggested that I either wait for nature to take its course and miscarry or take a drug that will cause my uterus to contract. He also said that there is a possibility that the sac may reabsorb as it is only a 4 week old sac i.e. < 1 cm. He explained that I won't miscarry until my progestrone levels have completely dropped off and that at the moment my body still thinks that it is pregnant. My prog level last week was 120 and it's down to 45 this week so I think I might wait to see what next weeks bloodtest result looks like until I make the decision as to whether to take the drug or not. Contrary to the other RE's advice last week, he said that he wouldn't recommend a d & c for something so small. He said that was quite an aggressive approach. He explained that I had had a very successful first round of IVF for my 'vintage' and should look forward to my FET. My HCG is still 3000+ so a long way to go there!

Is anybody else able to shed any light on how they approached inevitable miscarriage - naturally or drug enhanced? I just can't stop thinking about the fact that if this was a natural pregnancy, I would have no idea that my bean had stopped growing and I was about to miscarry. What a shock it would be to have no forewarning.

Anyway everybody, have an excellent weekend. It's very rainy and cold here so please send me some US sunshine. It's going to be an inside DVD/baking/housework kind of a day.
