only ONE beta draw?

Postby leorira11 » Tue Aug 10, 2010 8:02 am

both of my BFP cycles I've only had ONE beta draw - at 17 days past retreival (once was 14dp3dt and once 12dp5dt). Both times, my beta has been quite high (544 with twins, 351 with (presumably) a singleton). But my doctor never took a second blood draw. Instead, a week later I go for an ultrasound (24 days past retreival - or 5w3d pregnant).

Is that really unusual? I thought the whole point of beta numbers was not how high or low they are but how quickly they double. Why wouldn't my doctor take another blood test? (I asked the nurse and she said it was because my number was 'good'. If my number was less 'good' I would have more blood draws before the u/s. She said it's to save me trips to the clinic)
