GHOST....stimming with a dermoid?

Postby rypell1985 » Mon Aug 16, 2010 2:53 pm

Hi Ghost, I was hoping you could help me out with this one. Quick history...I had a dermoid removed from my right ovary in 2007. When I was trying to begin my first IVF cycle in June they found 3 more dermoids, 2 on the right and 1 on the left. I had those removed June 26th. So this morning I went in for my baseline to start my cycle and the ultrasound showed another mass on my ovary (I forgot to ask which side). RE is sending me for a CT scan this afternoon to get a better look. RE says that she wouldn't want to see me go through another operation less than 7 weeks since my last one. She says that if the CT scan shows that this is pretty consistent with a dermoid she will talk with an oncologist to see if I can get clearance to start stims.

Here's my question...

Best case scenario is I get clearance to start. What are the risks of stimming with a dermoid? Will that hinder my results? Will I even be able to produce any follicles, and if I do, will they be any good? And finally, will stimming with a dermoid increase any chances of damage to my ovary? I plan on asking my RE all these questions as well, but any extra advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
