Hi Dallas,
Please don't take my experience as golden! My RE said this works for 85% and we just fell into that small group of failures. It's definately worth a try for you. I'm just in a funk this week because of the BFN that I got Monday. Hey, if I come up with the cash I'd like to try another donor that looks more like me. We'll see. Best of luck to you!!!
Love and Hugs,
Chili

We used a donor and are currently 19wks pregnant with twin boys. :D :D I couldn't be happier! I wish we'd done it sooner. Our ED was 22yrs old. We got her from an agency. She was a first timer. DH and I wanted someone that looked like me and my RE said that he's never seen someone look this much like her donor before. We also wanted someone under the age of 25, to increase our chances of better quality eggs. Not that age matters all the time, but that's just what we were looking for. She produced 20 at ER. I'm pretty sure they weren't all mature. 10 fertilized. We ended up with 3 embryos on day 5. We put in 2 and have one frosty.

I understand your wanting a whole basket of eggs to improve your chances. In the beginning, our donor wasn't producing a big number. I was a nervous wreck. I think that by day 8 she only had about 6 or something. My RE explained that he was going for quality over quantitiy and was trying to avoid OHSS. My ED did great. No signs of OHSS. Now when I think about it. I'm kinda glad we don't have a dozen frosties. Otherwise I would feel the need to give them all a chance. We agreed that whatever we get, we would use. I don't think that I would choose to have more than 3 kids. If it's God's will, then so be it. DH would have a house full if I would do it. I know it's hard to think that everything will work out the way that it's suppose to when you've had such a difficult journey with ttc. Trust in God. All that you can do is....do your part and leave the rest up to Him.

Good luck.
~Karin~

Hi Karin1. I frequent another thread. However, something you said struck a cord with me. My husband and I also agreed that we would give every embryo we had a chance. We started with eight. Transferred two. Had a MC. 5 made it to freeze. On first FET, one failed to thaw. I got pregnant w/twins, but one failed to develope. We have a wonderful son and we just did FET with our remaining two. I certainly hope this works because I would like another couple, but we will not create embryos just to have them destroyed in the end.

For me, i didn't want a bunch of frosties just because i knew if this cycle didn't work then i would want to do a FET and if that didn't work, then i would want to do another one and it seemed like it could end up with a never ending cycle of more negatives and more $$ thrown out the door. I have been doing IVF for 3 years now and i knew i couldn't handle too many more BFN's. That is the reason we did genetic testing so we could weed out the ones that might look awesome on day 5 but were abnormal and wouldn't take.
