Leora- Geez, I hope nothing is wrong and that it's just a slow lowering beta.....or it's confused....because it's not even lowering, it's going up....that's just weird. BUT, again, I hope it's just weirdness and not that there is something wrong.

AFM- got the results from beta #2.....1650....I'm very pleased with that. Last time, our beta didn't double appropriately, it went up, but not doubled. So, next step, more waiting. Ultrasound scheduled for Jan 4th at 9:30 AM. I don't know how I'm going to wait 2 weeks. I took in homemade fudge and chocolate chip cookies to the clinic this morning. They said they weren't going to let me graduate, they would just watch me my whole pregnancy....hehehehehe.... I love the ladies (and men, the doctors, they are the only men that I know of at the clinic) so much. They are great. Oh- someone asked me if we were going to tell the family at Christmas....well, so what is weird, is that we don't talk about it much with my family, they aren't against it or anything, I think they kinda think it's weird since I have a 17 year old and a 19 year old, but my mom LOVES babies so much, she will be too excited with babies. My ex in laws...I've kept them posted the whole process. My ex mother in law went with me for my doctor's appt 7 years ago to see if I would be a good candidate for getting my tubes untied. She's very supportive. My current in laws...well, we will see. If it comes up, we will tell them,if it doesn't, then we won't. My DH wanted to wait until after the 1st trimester. And, we really don't want to discuss HOW we got pregnant, because according to my mother in law, it is against the Catholic Church and our souls will burn in hell.......I hate when that happens. Sorry, I don't mean to make light of it. We did have a conversation with our priest, and he's well aware of what we are doing and he spoke to a few other priests that actually teach, and they said with our intent and how we are doing it, that they are ok with it. Honestly, for me, it wouldn't have made a difference either way, for my DH, not sure. He was born and raised Catholic, I wasn't. Anyways, so, we will see, I will let you guys know if we spills the beans to them.

Well, gotta get back to the house work....we are leaving tomorrow to go visit the current inlaws for 6 days. My 19 year old son is going to house sit/dog sit while we are gone. He loves it, he has the whole house to himself. I need to take pics of my furbabies and figure out how to post them online. So I call them babies.....one of them is still under a year old, the rest are 5 years (Zucko- male), 2 females that are 2 (Pinky & Belle) and then the baby...Kammi...she is Zucko and Pinky's baby. We had a total of 9 live puppies in March (St Patrick's Day) and we kept this one. Everytime someone would come to see the pups, she would go hide.....

Have a great rest of the day ladies!

Bonnie- I am so sorry you are feeling yucky again! Did it hurt when they drained it? Will you have to go in and maybe get it drained multiple times per week or did they say that it will get better?

Neffi- Just checking to see how you are doing.

And a lovely new year's presentEvening ladies, how are we all doing?

Leorira: how are you doing? What will happen next? As i said in my last post I really hope its a slow beta and not an ectopic.

Blue: really - a five mile run after 6 months off? Oh you must hurt!!

Bonnie: that's awful you feel so bad. It really sounds like ohss and I hope your clinic monitor you x

Tess: oh this is just awful for you. I really hope again that this is just a slow beta and nothing more sinister x

Neffi: how are you doing?

Antonina: your images are just so lovely. I wish you a wonderful close to 2011 and a great beginning to 2012 x

Maria: how is your first day of holidays going?

Julia: I had Accupuncture today. Because the clinic is closed when i should ovulate next tue/wed i wont have another session until day 21ish.
and for most parts a practicing catholic (had a bit of a dipmonths months months months later).

Sorry my Tablet had a melt down and ate lines of my post!!

LauraN: I was in the middle of my post congratulating you on such a fantastic beta. Well done :D I was also saying im a catholic and a regularly practicing one ( I had a dip three years ago when my best friend died and my mum died 6 months later). But as it happens I was reading yp on the catholic church's view. And actually its not against fertility treatment per se. Now its definately against ICSI and other interventions that are that technical or what they consider intrusive, because, and im now quoting dignitas personae "it causes a complete separation between procreation and the conjugal act" Now I've read pretty much all of it and where a few years ago I would have been furious at how outrageous some of the language and information is, now I just leave them to their opinion. Yes, I do have an ethical question around the destruction of embryos but that is between me and my conscience and God. I think your priests are dead right when they speak about intention. I wish I believed that the Vatican had our best interests at heart but i think its much more about control.

I hope that wasnt too heavy!!!

Patricia- Yes, 5 miles. Not recommended. I feel crappy. But, I took some advil and a baclofen and now am waiting to start my workout of the day which will be on my spin bike. Nothing like torturing yourself

Leora- WTF?? Weird. I hope the mystery concludes soon.

Ninde- that's funny you mentioned ICSI, we didn't even talk to the priest about that, we talked to him about 5 years ago, when we were first going to do it, and knew nothing about ICSI. We ended up not doing it at the time because of my weight. We had an issue with the destruction of embryo's, etc as well, but I just believe that the embroy's that are discarded were not ending up as embryo's anyway, otherwise, why would they be discarded. We were able to freeze one embryo this time, so we will see what happens with that one. What was interesting, is that when my MIL said all of those things, she said that she didn't know why the church was against it, but that she just knew they were. I did a lot of research and I get parts of it....like they are against masterbation (sorry...I know it grosses many out), and obviously that has to happen. And, that because the whole process takes away the joining of husband and wife, etc....blah, blah, blah in my opinion. I do wish that they would take intent. It's funny that they are good with young unmarried girls getting pregnant(ok, good may be a little strong, but at least they aren't going to hell), but then for two, mature (ok, that is questionable too...hehehehe) adults that want children, that can't the normal way.....I don't know, I have a lot of opinion about it and it probably doesn't help that I was not raised Catholic and raised to review the Bible, not other church written books and rely on 1 person to decide what is right and what is wrong. So no, you weren't too heavy with that, I could talk about religion all day long. When I was in middle school, my family and I lived in South America as missionaries and I have studies the Bible since I popped out (I always say that I was born in a pew), and so I just have a different take on the Bible, Religion, Spirituality, etc than most of the Catholics that I have met. Although, when it all boils down, we honestly believe the same stuff, deep down. Thanks for discussing this one with me! It's great to hear from another Catholic that is going through this. It's crazy that I am afraid to tell my MIL simply because of the way the baby(s) were conceived.

**crashing**

Leora: I was stopping by to wish you a Happy Chanukah!! But...what the hay?@!$ I am sorry. :( I hope that your beta plummets and all is well. Please do be vigilant for symptoms of ectopic...especially pain. I don't want to worry you, buy my first IVF I ended up with double (twin) ectopic. I had one in my tube and one ON my friggin ovary. No one could explain to me how that could happen...plus, I was almost 9 weeks with erratic betas (much higher than yours are now, however) before it was diagnosed and suffered a rupture 6 days after being treated with methotrexate. Your beta is very low so my guess is that it isn't ectopic, but don't take any chances. Grrrr....

Bonnie: I don't know you--congrats on the pregnancy! And, definitely sounds like OHSS. :( And if they are draining you, there must be a significant amount of fluid, so please take good care of yourself and push a lot of fluids. Did your RE give you other instructions? I had a severe case of OHSS--which is quite rare--and ended up hospitalized so I know how uncomfortable it can be. Take it easy!! PM me if you have any questions.

Anyone else celebrating Chanukah: (lauren319 are you there?)

well RE canceled my beta today....they were only going to be in the office until 10 am and I wasn't going to make it til 11am. They said I could come in Thursday. They know that I have negatives at home so they know thats its going to be negative. I talked to RE later and asked if I could just stop my meds and she said yes and that I don't even have to come in for a beta. So in their minds....16dpo with a negative at home is a BFN! I took one more HPT to make sure and nothing so this is it for me. Thank you all for your support....

Leora- I will be watching for you BFP!!!!!!!!!!!! It will come.....

Neffi- I'm sorry. I'm glad your RE isn't stringing you along. :( Thinking of you.

LauraN- Such an interesting discussion. I'm not Catholic but was married to one at one time. We struggled with infertility and IVF didn't seem to be an option but we never discussed why. I always thought it was financial but who knows. I really think intent should be the focus. I understand the controversy of destroying embryos and really don't think I would have mine destroyed. I would either use them, adopt them out, or use them for science. In my world, using them for science isn't the same as destroying them. I'm also one that would donate my body to science if my family would allow it. However, I don't think they would. I guess that is a whole new topic right there!

Leora- Yes, we have infertility insurance through my dh's job. He works for Microsoft and they have generous benefits. Those benefits don't come easy. They are a very difficult company to work for, but a good company to work for. Basically we are given $15000 each for infertility. The catch is that most of the cost falls on the female so it isn't an even divide. One fresh cycle at my clinic runs avg $12000 without ICSI. We did ICSI. I haven't checked to see how much of our benefit has been used. The cryo benefit is limited to 6 months and after that we pay. I was able to say a bit on our benefit because they are a secondary insurer for me. I had to pay out of pocket cash for our drugs and then submit to the for reimbursement. It saved us $2000 by not going thru insurance for the cost of drugs. Weird. I am GRATEFUL for the benefit. I know we are very lucky.

AFM- Managed to get my workout in. I did 35 mins on my spin bike and then 20 mins of light weight exercises and stretching. I did some ab work while on my bike and boy do I feel it. I really have to work on my strength. It's pretty pathetic. I do like that I can get out on the trail and go for 5 miles albeit it is not a constant run. I'm a run/walker and manage a 14-15 min per mile average. I like to think that is good considering I am not a small girl. Carrying 190lbs for 5 miles is challenging. I'm hoping my time gets better as my weight drops.

Nighty night.
Off to a warm salt bath to soothe these sore muscles. DH is sick and I'm hoping to ward it off!

Leora, I am so sorry you are going through this beta roller coaster crap. I can't imagine it being an ectopic so late in the game. Ectopic would be rising all along. I hope it's just some embryo tissue remnants and your beta will be on its way down again. They wi ll probably give you a meth shot just to be safe. My doc didn't insist on waiting 3 months after my meth shot. In my case my natural schedule resulted in a 10 week break, which is not ideal for you, I am sure.

I hate the BFNs that are not plain old BFNs. All this chemical, ectopic crap takes so much time! If its not going to work out, then I'd rather its a plain old BFN, no weird business.

And Happy Chanukah!

Leora - oh crap! Why can't things just happen normally. This must be beyond frustrating for you.

Neffi - i'm so sorry. Not a great start to Xmas. Take some time out to recover.

Blue - please, please, please talk to DH about giving up the lie. Goodness me, that would have driven me nuts. You must be an incredibly patient and understanding person.

Anton - you amazingly positive person. What a pleasure it is to read your lovely posts. I can almost smell your kitchen from here. :) You are so incredibly caring and generous doing all that baking for the carehome. Whilst i would have good intentions, I'm afraid my self discipline would not be so great and I'd only end up giving away half of the baking.

Ninde- i've just started seeing an osteopath for my migraines. During the first session she had her hands under my back and sacrum and I started to crqmp. The next day I started to bleed. I also had a really stiff, sore neck and after she did whatever 'airy fairy' stuff she does, it felt great when I woke up the next morning. In the New Year I'll go back to see my traditional chinese medical practioner to prepare for whatever we decide to do next....another IVF cycle or a egg donor cycle.

Margi - great to see you crashing. I saw on another forum that Lauren319 has got a BFP. The numbers on the low side but hey, i've got everything crossed for her. How are you doing and how are your lovely twins?

We - how are you doing heading into Xmas?

Bonnie - sorry that you are all blown up again! It must be extremely uncomfortable.

LauraN - wahoooooo! The best Xmas present ever. :D
