the lab pulled through!

Beta at 16dpER is 73. That's a doubling time of 54 hours or so.

Still a bit low, but at least it's rising.

BetaBase says the average for 16dpo is 200, but I've found other sources on line that say that the average is closer to 100. Whatever.

There is also this study, that used to be encouraging to me.... http://www.squidoo.com/16dpo
Taken from Table 2
Summary of Outcome by hCG levels

What this study found:

25 - 50 hCG at 16dpo -- Four women in this study had hCG levels below 50 at this stage. The researchers concluded that with these levels less than 25% would continue on with their pregnancy with more than 75% miscarrying.

50 - 100 hCG at 16dpo -- Of 16 women, 25% continued on with their pregnancies.

100 - 199 hCG at 16dpo -- Of 27 women with these levels, 73% continued on with their pregnancies.

200 - 299 hCG at 16dpo -- Of 48 women, 96% continued on with their pregnancies

Over 300 hCG -- All 105 women continued on with their pregnancies.
Whatever. We'll see...

RE wants me to come back on Wed or Thurs for another check. I just might go Tuesday instead!

Leora - Yay! Wonderful news! I know you won't be totally relaxed at least not until your next beta, but for now this is the best ever! Sending loads of positives vibes to you!!! Can't wait to hear the next rising beta!

Ninde - Sorry you think this might be viral. I remember you being unwell for quite a while now, and I know this is very stressful.

Madam x - Wonderful news about the transfer going well. Sorry yours didn't pull thru, but for now you are pupo and this is just fantastic. I think we will be having a day 3 transfer. We normally do. We usually have quite a lot of eggs, but not that many embies pull thru and RE is afraid to wait.

Kynlee - How are you doing? I think I will only take 2 days off, the first time I stayed home for like a week after transfer. I hated it!

AFM: sorry for being MIA, very hectic days. We are going to have ER tomorrow already! I triggered early in the morning and stopped all other injections, blood thinners included. I'm very nervous all the time. Yesterday DH asked why won't we try and have some eggs fertilized without ICSI because he thinks we will have many eggs again (even though some follies vary in sizes and even though the first IVF half our eggs were fertilized without ICSI and their survival rate was poor). He read a while ago how ICSI might cause a higher % birth defects and he's worried now. I got so angry at him and now I regret my behavior. I just told him I'm so tired, and this is our 7th try and I have to also think about getting pregnant first of all, and if ICSI gives us much better chances because of the 0% normal sperm head morphology (having to do exactly with fertilizing capacity) I want to use ICSI. I feel like a mad hormonal cow at the moment, but I'm also so tired... It's difficult to stay positive! I feel guilty for the way I allowed myself to get angry though. He has been thru just as much...
Sending baby dust to all of you strong ladies, sorry for missing some personals.

WaitingKay- I totally understand where you are coming from with the ICSI. We only want the the best outcome but it's stressful at the same time. I have to tell you my brother and his wife did ICSI and today have a healthy happy 18 month old son. Maybe my dh knowing that helped him outweight the pros and cons of ICSI. My clinic really didn't give us much of an option, with my dh's inconsistant morph, they tell us ICSI is the only best route and already included the cost into our program. Which is so much better then what happened to my brother when they got a bill in the mail 3 months later. We always want to ask these kind of questions to avoid unexpected bills from our clinic.

Leora- Wonderful news on your beta this is at doubling time! Try to take Ninde's advice so time will fly by quickier for you.

MadameX- Thank you for your words of advice, I have to remember how the education field works and sometimes it's about networking with people you know.

We- I have been checking in on you and the u/s picture is adorable, hopefully the next dr visit both girls will cooperate. As for dh's job interview nope no calls back yet but I have to remember this was also a holiday week so I'll give it until next Friday. In the meantime, dh is applying right now to several high schools in our area.

AFM: Sorry my personals are behind it's going to be a busy week with my next off day on Thursday, but I'll be reading along. :D

Sunshine-it's so nice to hear from you. Thank you for the compliments on the u/s pic. I'm glad DH is applying at dome local high schools. I recall you initially really trying to stay where you are. Has he ever worked with high school kids or just college? I guess each brings it's own challenges. Working with high school kids can be tough I'm sure but quite rewarding at the same time. I'm praying he finds something soon so that both of you can feel secure enough to continue with your journey. About the PM I sent you a fee weeks ago, the offer still stands. Please let me know what you would like to do. Sending you all my love and strength today.

Leora-your Beta is rising and that is what's important right now. I also agree that you need to try and find sone distraction in order yo make this time bearable. I know, easier said then done. Sending you a great big long distance hug.

waitingkay - i would do ICSI on all.. it ups your chances of fertilization. Like you said you can worry about other problems later on. Many clinics now do ICSI on all the patients regardless of diagnosis. it ups the chances of success.

To_have_fun - Thank you! I read your post to DH, felt in a way he needed to hear it from someone...anyone, not me! I know it sounds crazy but, maybe because I'm so hormonal he doesn't know already when I'm just insisting and when I'm telling him what I honestly think is best, based on researches I found etc. He says fine, and we'll ICSI all.
I think it all started to be more confusing for him after we found out I have APS a few months ago. Some Docs think the chemical pregnancies I had were all related to the morphology issues, 1 high risk doc thinks the chemicals, not only the PTL were because of the APS. Then some think the PTL can't be explained, maybe bad luck, maybe a combination of the amnio I had 2 weeks before I started bleeding which lead to contractions. All in all it seems like he started thinking maybe his sperm was never an issue. It is hard to for him to accept that we don't only have his problem to deal with, but that there's something to worry about even when and if we achieve another pregnancy. I somehow learned to accept it and then it becomes increasingly difficult when I see we 2 sometimes nearly argue about whether we need ICSI for example or not (basically a desperate attempt of saying there are no sperm issues there?!) I don't know. We are both tired and worried before the ER tomorrow.
Thank you again, you helped. K

Leora, my beta was 77 at 16dpo after an initial beta of 31. I'm telling you, I feel confident for you and this cycle! It definitely can happen! They kept testing my beta multiple times too because my first number was so low. My little girl sure showed them!

Waiting kay: its a really tough time isnt it? Im clearly not inside your husbands head but I know that often the fertility issues for men seem to be very hard for them and sometimes they try to deny or play the issues down. Perhaps your husband is doing that. Its really hard not to get into the blame game, we are only human and the whole damn thing is so unfair. My dh has ms and our only possibility was icsi. Im carrying more weight than I should be and the hospital told me I had to lose weight. In an argument my dh basically told me that I was stopping us from getting pregnant. Now there is no way in heaven I could have got pregnant because of the level of sperm mortility (not to mention the small fact he wont have sex with me!!!) but he really started to believe we could because it was so hard for him to accept his fertility issues. I reckon its an evolutionary thing. I hope you are ok, the hormones are horrible so please go gently. And im wishing you so much good luck for tomorrow x

Kynlee: rest!! Church is great as is bed! The cramps I think can be progesterone?

Sunshine - Forgot to thank you too in my earlier mail. What you told me I also told DH. Thanks for so much understanding, and I agree with you I also know many ICSI children that show no signs of problems.

Ninde - Yes. It seems like only you ladies understand me. It is very difficult because we love them, we don't want them to feel pain or blame, yet when it clashes with us choosing ICSI because it gives us better chances...
I have read your earlier post about the sex thing with your DH. My heart goes out to you. Neither are we having it problem-free, but I understand for you it has evolved into more than just low frequency and as a woman, especially a woman undergoing treatments this is so tough. You have to take care of yourself in terms of feeling good about you, who you are, how you look like etc. I'm probably just repeating things you already know and perhaps apply, yet it is helpful to me hearing from ladies who experience the same as me so I'm sharing my thoughts and solutions with you. About the weight, when you decide to loose it it should be for you and it feels wonderful. I was going to be a mom at 35. Instead I had a loss right then and was left older, and a lot fatter because of treatments and pregnancy. The 2 months off we took after realizing a year had gone since the loss and we haven't succeeded yet, I did a lot more Pilates and walks than before and I lost a lot of the weight I gained. And it works wonders in whatever age, in whatever state of relationship (not that this actually "fixed" things between him and me) I am feeling better in my own skin. I thought that it wouldn't make a difference but it does. Yes I'm approaching 36, but my pants sit better on me than otherwise, and it makes my days go smoother. I assume that being told to loose weight isn't helpful, quite the contrary I imagine it putting stress on top of everything else. I am here for you, thank you so much for understanding and being open about your own issues. It is a real battle.
I'll talk to you all tomorrow after ER!

Oh, Kynlee - sending sticky vibes...I think like the rest of the ladies - progesterone gives you cramps. Try to relax and not read too much into it. Easier said than done I know.

Blessings to you all,
Kay

Hi Ladies!

I'm back...joining in the journey late, but excited to see so many of you getting your betas now and doing transfers!

Leora - so excited to read about your positive and doubling beta! Congrats!

Rypell, Anton, Chris, so glad to see you on the boards! Hoping for your support during the TWW. Do we have a mayor of crazy town yet?

AFM - I am triggering tonight and have my ER on Tuesday! EEK! I'm so excited, but nervous! My last IVF was a chemical preg, and my egg quality wasn't great, so i'm just very anxious to see how my eggs are this time. All of my eggs last time had fragmentation, which I know doesn't mean it's a total negative, but I had nothing over a 3 grade.

Anyways, hoping to stay relaxed, try not to add stress, but you know how it goes. I will probably have a 3-day transfer again...If my ER is Tuesday morning, would a three day transfer be on Friday or Saturday? I'm confusing myself now!
