Hi All-

Alexis - congratulations! super nice! either twins or a real strong singleton!

AFM, i've heard from the embryologyst - and we had 7 out of 10 eggs fertilize. that is really good for us! last time we only had 5 out of 11 fertilize, which was a real bummer. Embryologyst told me that my DH's sperm was better this time (he took some suppliments for 4 months) but still she had to spend a lot of time searching for nice looking sperm. my DH has poor morphology so a lot of his sperm dont look good and that means they are not good inside and will not fertilize the egg. Well, she did good - we got 7 fertilized.

So the plan is - to devide the cohort into 2 parts and to transfer half fresh and freeze the other half. Given my past history, i will most likely have about 3 embryos that develop on time and 4 slow embryos. So, we'll divide the cohort evenly - so that each attempt - the fresh and the frozen - will have 1-2 ontime embryos and the rest are slow embryos. We discussed my endometrium and whether it is possibly corrupted due to stims - but she thinks that it should be fine and my E2 never got very high - likely 3500 - and she thinks the environment should be good. She said "if it was me" that's what she would do.

so the plan is to transfer on friday - bedrest for 1 day, because i cant really afford a longer one. and she said that she only recommends one day bedrest and then take it easy. i will try my best to take it easy over the weekend with a 2 year old. LOL!

So, Barbara - now we are both waiting till friday - you for your U/S and me for transfer!

Neffi - tuesday is still aways away!if you get a beta of 100 on tuesday and since it doubles every 2 days, you can count back to when you can see it on the stick. 100 on tuesday, 50 on sunday, 25 on friday, 12 on wednesday. so even if you get 100 on tuesday, you still may not see anything until friday on the stick. and you can also get a beta of 50 on tuesday - then you will not see anything on stick until sunday. and i know plenty of people on this site that got betas of 50 and went on to have healthy babies! was it a fresh or frozen transfer? frozen betas are lower usually.

kerpupples wrote:Neffi - still early friend, don't give up yet. I don't know if your previous cycle was an FET, but of my 2 BFPs I've had, the FET one came later.

Barbara - hang in until that U/S. I'm sure things are fine.

Alexis - That's a good strong beta! Definitely in possible twin territory. :)

AFM - nada. Last BCP to be taken on Friday.
kerpuples - i think you said you were participating in the clinical trial? how many embryos did you get and what were the test results from PGD? good thing you ended up on the "PGD tested" side. because i imagine there is an even number of people on the other side - transfer without PGD testing.
what is your FET protocol - how many weeks on BCP and how many on lupron?

Barbara - still just spotting, I'd say don't worry but I know how that goes! Hang in there.

Neffi - Guessing you have not POAS yet today. I admire your restraint!

LYD - That really sounds like the best possible plan for you. I'll be pulling for those ealy embies to do well so you don't have to go through another cycle. We ended up with 16 (!) blastocysts, 7 of which turned out to be genetically normal. I'm glad we ended up in the freeze and test all portion of the study too. I don't think we would have been able to do a fresh transfer since I'm fairly sure I hyperstimulated, so I would have been stuck waiting another month anyway. Oh, and no lupron for me this round, either with fresh or FET! I like that part, makes the cycle shorter. BCP is variable based on available transfer days. It will have been 31 days this time and I'm spotting a little bit. I think my body thinks that is a bit too long.

LYD, I hope you ET goes super well today and you are able to take it easy! How did all your embryos look? Your fertilization rate sounded great. You'll have to keep us posted on how you feel the next 2 weeks. The waiting is so hard!

Michele, how are you doing? I've been thinking of you tons...

Neffi, I'm sorry to hear the POAS results are still negative. I sure hope it's just a late implanter and you will still get your positive! We are definitely keeping you in our thoughts.

Kerpupples, what are your next steps now that you are done with BCP? Did you win a prize at your holiday party?

Barbara, thinking of you today with your ultrasound! I hope it goes fantastic and you'll be peeing the dark and not worrying from now on:) Let us know how it went!

AFM, thanks for all the positive comments about my first beta number. I had my blood drawn this morning for the 2nd beta and just hope that my numbers have increased! It makes me so nervous waiting for my office to call. I ended up calling them at 2:30pm on Wednesday to get my first beta results. I hate waiting! My boobs are growing and tender, so I'm hoping that's a good sign. I'll post again once I get my number.

Talk to you all soon!

Alexis, thanks. I don't know how my ymbies look because my embryologist doesn't like to look in on me on day2 sodas not to disturb them. I am going to accu first at 10:45 then to clinic at 12:15 and will know everything then. So exciting and scary at the same time. I am so emotional, I hope we have at least 3-4 good embies. I am tempted to transfer all the good ones today because I am just tired of getting bfn/chemical cycle results. And if that doesn't work, then I'll never do another fresh transfer and he next egg retrieval I'll freeze all. Anyway I am rambling...

Barbara, good luck on your u/s! I hope everything looks fantastic!

Alexis, post your 2nd beta ASAP. Can't wait

Lyd: I'll be thinking of you today! Best wishes for strong, healthy embryos and a smooth transfer.

Alexis: I'll be stalking here for your next beta number! With such a great first number, I'm betting your second will be equally as terrific!

Neffi: You did a frozen transfer didn't you? If so, it's not necessarily over yet. I've read that frozen embryos tend to lag a bit behind as they often have to rebuild after taking a little damage in the freezing and thawing process.

AFM: YAY! YAY! YAY! I had a perfect ultrasound... Great heart beat and a big, healthy baby. The doctor also found the reason for my spotting - I have a low placenta that's tail is on my cervix. He said this is no big deal and is likely to correct as everything grows.

I'm totally stocking our thread today!

LYD, thanks for the information on your ET. Since you are on Pacific time, it sounds like we may not get your full update until later. We are definitely thinking about you though!

Barbara, great news on your Ultrasound! I'm so happy for you and now you can stop worrying (or at least try to); great news!

I'm still waiting for my Beta results...they mornings feel like forever! I just want to know and hope that things are progressing nicely. I'll post it once I get my call.

Barbara, I laughed about you wearing dark underwear and not having the light on in the bathroom! I'm sure everything is going fine for you. Ultrasound is Friday, right? Oh, I have a question for you too. After your first Beta, what were the next steps? Another beta in 2 days? Then, if all looks good, when is the next Beta and first ultrasound? I can't remember from the cycle that gave us our son...
Sorry, I meant to answer this sooner but got caught up in all my spotting drama.

What my doctor does is test your initial beta. Then test two days later. If the second result is over 1000, then they stop beta testing and schedule an ultrasound. If the second beta is not over 1000, they schedule another beta in four days then schedule the ultrasound if your beta is over 1000.

For me, my first pregnancy did not get over 1000 until the 3rd beta and my second pregnancy was over 1000 at the 2nd beta.

My first ultrasound was at 5W2D with my first pregnancy and with the second it was at 5W3D - the extra beta on the first pregnancy did not seem to effect the scheduling of the ultrasound. There, they look for the sac and you might see the yoke sac as well.

My next ultrasound was at 7W2D with my first pregnancy and 7W3D with my second pregnancy (although I had one sooner due to a bleed). This is the one where they look for the heart beat.

LYD - good luck with the transfer! I've had BFPs both with accu and without so I don't know if it really helps, but it is very relaxing and certainly can't hurt. We're going to transfer two. Our RE gave us a 78% chance of delivery going that route, but it does also give us an increased risk of twins.

Barbara - congrats on the ultrasound! One thing you'll need to be conscious of if the placenta doesn't move is preterm labor. I had it and mine never moved. We were told to stop all intercourse at 28 weeks (and I've heard of even earlier). I ended up bleeding and going into preterm labor at 36 weeks. It was a lot less scary than it sounds, still had the spinal block rather then general anesthesia for the C-section. Still, in retrospect, I think I should have been taking it a lot easier that day than I did. We had a breastfeeding AND a child care class that day and I think I did too much walking. The upside was that I was already at the hospital when I went into labor. 8)

Alexis - not a single prize! :( Lots of good food though. Can't wait to hear your second beta.

Neffi - it's not too late yet!

AFM, feeling rather blue today. I'm hoping a good weekend will make that go away. Last BCP (hopefully EVER) is today so expecting AF on Sunday or Monday. Then ready to rock and roll!

Ladies. Good news so far! Out of 7 embryos all 7 were 8cells, which is what they are supposed to be! We've never had all 7 embryos on time! And all grade A. Embryologist was very happy for us. She said we outdid ourselves this time :) yey! We transferred 3 good embryos! And are freezing 4 other good ones. Wow! I am super excited.

Now 50% of then could still be genetically wrong inside, but hopefully one will take.

I am typing this from the transfer room table where I am supposed to lie still for 45min.

I saw them put the embryos in. Even though it was my 6th time it was still very cool. They didn't put them in too far in so as to avoid another ectopic.

Lyd: Wow! You have an excellent group of embryos. With three in, your odds sound very good. Are you going to POAS?

Kerpupples: Thanks for the info on previa. Why are you feeling blue? This is a good time for you and it sounds like you have excellent odds. Maybe it's because you know what's coming up. When I started my second IVF, I felt a bit overwhelmed because I new how stressful the waits were and how much happiness was at stake. I didn't get that with my first IVF because I didn't know what I know now.
