Ghost, should I be worried I'm going to miscarry?

Postby shammy678 » Fri Jan 20, 2012 4:19 am

Hi Ghost and others! I'm now 6 weeks and 5 days pregnant with a singleton. After doing a frozen transfer of one 6 day blastocyst, my initial HCG level was 1228 and went up nicely. At exactly 6 weeks, after going on a power walk I started bleeding (not bright red but maroonish red. It wasn't a huge amount but if I wasn't pregnant, it was enough to make me think I was getting my period and put a pad on). My heart sank because I thought I was miscarrying. After going to my fertility clinic for an emergency sonogram, I was surprised and elated when the doctor found a strong heartbeat and said the baby was growing right on track. He said not to worry, the baby's fine.

My question is: Is this a sign that this pregnancy might not be viable? Is bleeding not always a sign of trouble? Should I not be power walking? I'm just worried because I miscarried in September at 6 weeks.

Thanks Ghost or anyone else who wants to weigh in!

I bled/spotted through almost the entire first trimester with both pregnancies. I also worked out, lightly until 7 weeks, when I got the ok to resume my usual workouts. I work out at a pretty good pace, plus strength training, all with no ill effects. :D

Bleeding is not always a sign of trouble. Bleeding is common, regardless of outcome.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

As long as the baby is looking good, I don't think your miscarriage risk is elevated (unless in an extreme case, like a huge subchorionic hematoma really close to the baby). It might be good to lower your activity level a bit, though. I had a bleed at 9 weeks and have taken it more easy since then and the bleeding has not returned. Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck to you!

Just wanted to give you extra re-assurance... I bled off and on throughout the first trimester, and my little one is almost two now!! I found out a little later that I did have a hemmhorrage that was likely causing the bleeding, and I was put on some restrictions, but all ended well. I don't think you have anything to worry about!! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the reassurance. Thankfully, I'm not spotting anymore. And I have another sono next week so hopefully we'll see that little heartbeat again and I'll feel better! Good luck to anyone who's cycling now!
