Ureaplasma species and M genitalium are causes of nonchlamydial nongonococcal urethritis in men. No evidence indicates that that M hominis causes female urethral syndrome however Ureaplasma species may be involved. Ureaplasma organisms have been recovered from an epididymal aspirate from a patient with acute epididymoorchitis, and these organisms may be an infrequent cause of the disease.
