Just wanted to check in with everyone and see how it's going. I'm feeling very ready to get this baby here! It's gone so fast, but these last few weeks really feel like they are dragging by. I obviously don't want her to come until she's nice and ready, but 4 more weeks sounds like such a long time!

How's everyone else coping?

Hi Fall Ladies

Good idea for updates Mego, I am also interested in how everyone is going (even though I haven't posted here for a looong time, I do lurk and check on everyone).

I hope all of our bed resters aren't going too stir crazy. That must he hard.

Mego, I can't believe it's only 4 more weeks for you. It's weird how on one hand time has dragged (i.e counting the days) but then on the other hand it seems to have flown by. I take it you have stopped work? I am hoping to stop in about six weeks although I find myself getting pretty tired these days (think it may have something to do with my anemia though). I may have to go part-time soon. Still have done nothing nursery wise. Better get on with that too!!!

Hope you all are well.

Hey Fee. Nope, I'm still working. I'm actually planning on working until the week before my due date if I can. I'm not going back after the baby is born, so I figure I might as well get that second income as long as I can. Plus, I'm afraid that I'd just sit here and stare at my belly if I quit too soon before. Luckily, my job is not very taxing, so hopefully I'll be okay.
I'm sorry about the anemia thing. Do you take medication for that or is it controlled through diet? I'm clueless here.

Everyone else, let's here how things are going!

Hey Mego, You keep working as long as you can! (Although nothing wrong with naval gazing either) On my good days I think that I would like to work till a week before and on my bad I could stop immediately. My job isn't too taxing either so I could concievably do it. I hear ya on the second income side of things. We will go down to one income for about a year and then hopefully between us juggle two part-time jobs (and I hope to do some work from home if my bosses let me...not sure about my chances on that one!)

I am taking strong iron tabs for the anemia, and may need injections, woo hoo and I thought the needles were behind me for a while!

The other major thing motivating me to leave work in six weeks is that I have NOTHING prepared, and I mean nothing....I just don't have the time on weekends to do anything! I'm starting to panic.

Just got back from my first cervix check. Very exciting! I'm 80% effaced and dilated 1. My doctor seemed happy with that--she said it's always good to get that started early so when you have contractions it doesn't last as long. I guess we'll see if that changes next week.

Well, it's all down hill from hill!

Mego

Congrats on the cervix check. I'm not sure what it all means but if the Doc is happy I'm happy.

How exactly are these cervix checks done? Ultrasound??? I have been exceedingly happy that my OB has not yet needed to look at my nether regions. Will that be changing? Do tell.

Well, according to her it means that 80% of the cervical tissue has thinned out (it needs to be 100% at labor) and I'm dilated 1---10 is when you deliver (meaning the cervix is totally open. It doesn't mean that I'm going into labor soon, just that things are getting going and when I do start having contractions, it maybe won't take as long to get the baby out. Good thing!

I'm sorry to say that she checks the cervix with her fingers. Yep, totally like a pap smear except instead of a cotton swab she just sticks her hand up there. It was more uncomfortable than I thought it would be---just an unpleasant pressure feeling. And a little crampy afterwards, although not too bad.

So, I guess it was a good thing I had my bikini wax done on Friday! And now I get to go every week and have it done! But I guess it's worth it!

Thanks for the explanation Meg, and forewarned is forearmed. I will have to tidy myself up in preparation for this unseemly check. Oh well I was going to anyway before the big day. Only thing is I think I will be self conscious getting a bikini wax in this state. I may try to give myself one - really test those pain thresholds...

Glad to hear your body is doing the right thing. Can't beleive the process is already starting for you.

I have just been to my OB. They like to use dramatic language when they speak of my iron levels. They say words like "rock bottom." or alternatively that I have no iron at all.

I have been put on even more iron supplements and been told to eat red meat two times a day. Man I was a vegetarian not so long ago but hey whatever it takes right??

Hi ladies,

I cannot believe we are all so close to birth dates & Autumn. I am so excited about seeing my babies. I had my usual fortnightly ultrasound and obgyn appt yesterday and the babies are doing great. There are just over 4.5lbs each and very lively little boys. They are still head down which I'm hoping means they will stay there now and let mummy have a normal delivery. I really don't want to have a C Section, mainly because of the repair time afterwards.
Everything is ready for them. The nursery is completed, the house has even been redecorated this summer as well as the gardens been manicured etc (like these little ones would notice) but we thought we wanted to make sure that house improvements etc were completed so not to get in the way of the first year for the kiddies. I've decided I won't be going back to work for a few years so that I can give the boys my full attention. Mind you I might change my mind after a few weeks of screaming babies!

Everyone else here looks like they are doing fab. Can't wait to start reading about the births, etc. Hope everyone gets good ones :)

Wow, Lisa sounds like you are ready. Congrats on making it this far with twins, that's quite the acomplishment. I'm crossing my fingers that you'll get your natural delivery!

Fee--Rock botton iron, huh? That's quite the accomplishment as well. I'm a firm believer that if you're going to do something, go all the way. So well done. Sorry about the meat eating thing--that's got to be tough! I'm not a huge meat eater either....could easily live without it. My husband would shrivel up and die, though!

Well, back to work.

Hey there! how is everyone? We are all so close. I had an OB appt. today. I'm excited to say that I am now 1cm dilated. :o not too much longer for me. To be honest I can't wait to have my body back to myself.
Just wanted to pop in quickly and see if there is any news. I'm so tired.... need.... to sleep now....

Hi, any of you had your babies yet?

Our precious baby boy was born ten days ago, Sept 14, at 36 weeks 6 days. I had a c-section due to a threat of cord prolapse and the fact that ultrasounds seemed to indicate that the growth of the baby had slowed down. Our son was born very healthy though, and weighed in at 5 lbs 8 ounces. He was a great feeder from the getgo and got to come home with us at three days of age (at 5 lbs 2 oz) -and we're all doing great.

Sooo happy!!!!!

I hope you're all fine whether you already have your babies in your arms or are still waiting to pop!

Rae--Our daughter was born on the 14th by C-section, too!!!! I went into labor and was doing fine (epidurals are wonderful things!) but after pushing for 2 hours she wasn't coming down any further---her head wouldn't get past my pubic bone. So C-section it was. Her poor head was all bruised up from banging against that bone! She weighed 6 lbs 7 ounces but was up to 6 13 at her one week check. Are you breast feeding?

How about everyone else?

A big congrats to both of you. How are you both recovering from your c-sections? Congrats to you mamas. So happy for you. I went to the doctor today and they say I am dilated to 1....I have a planned c-section for Oct 8th. Any insight on the c-sections would be great.
Thanks and congrats again
