Hi mumma's
Katie and i are home. Katie was born 6lb 1ounce 45cms long and with dark hair which was a suprise seeing my boy is blonde. We almost didn't have her on the 16th as we later found out that the hospital was going to cancell my surgery due to shortage of staff but luckily they got them selves organized and things went ahead . I had a spinal and no morphin and to be honest it was awful with ds i didn't feel a thing with Katie i felt every push pull and tug and felt out of breath the whole time and i swear at times what i thought was pain anyway katie was born healthy and gorgeous of course i've bounced back pretty quickly and am getting around fairly normal. Katie is slightly tongue tied and is jaundice which has made feeding very difficult bub had lost more than ten percent of her birth weigth by day three shes sleeps all day and night and only wakes herself for a feed about every 6 to 7 hours and for the feeds in between can't be woken enough to get a decent feed i had been expressing feeds for her to get her weight back up and she gain 80 grams over night the trouble is because shes so sleepy she slips off the breast enough to do damage and because shes slightly tongue tied she has trouble bringing her tongue out far enought to feed properly which also causes damage because shes hard to attach. My milk has come in but i am so sore and can't bare to put her back on and have therefor made the decision to put her on the bottle. i had similar troubles with ds and its caused so much upset that i've made the decision this time to tell myself i've done what i could to breast feed and that it's ok that it hasn't worked for me and to feel ok about it instead of feeling guilty i just now have the problem of stopping my milk production with out getting mastitis or blocked ducts. Katie herself is a blessing her jaundice is only slight now she still sleeps all day and all night but will now feed when i wake her which is three hourly to help get her weight back up she's so tiny.
My ds is so good with her he hold his hand out and then touches his neck as he says to me " my baby me hold neck" you know when you hold them and their little head sits on your shoulder near your shoulder well this is how he wants to hold her with her head next to his neck and the cute things is if she crys or makes a noise when he holds her he says whats wrong it's ok it's alright and gives her a kiss it's so sweet.

Sorry have to feed will post again tommorrow to congratulate those who have delivered and to see how those left are holding up

Take care JOMAExxxx

Jomae CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!! Katie is here!!!!

I am sorry to hear bf was so tough, but glad that you are recovered and are happily at home with Dh and Katie!

things are fine with me- I am 1cm dilated finally, so perhaps something will happen. I have another NST scheduled on Friday to make sure baby is still ok and fluid is at a good level and placenta ok, then if all else fails, Sunday night we have set up a schedule to induce labour if he doesn't show up on his own, that is.

all for now- tired and grumpy again- but watching Jane Austen films, so it's not all bad!

Hi Mommas!
I am offically 4 days past my due date and not a centimeter dialated! I had my 2nd NST today and baby is fine. I am going to hang in there until next week, I will be 11 days overdue before I will schedule for an induction. I really want to have 1 now but for some weird reason I feel bad that im rushing her out of her space when she is not ready to come, guess my mommie instincts are already in tact!.. Doc wont let me go past 14 days overdue. So he gona let me go all the way to 12 days and see if she decides to come on her own. I walk.. I have sex and now I am taking castor oil sugested by my ob, but so far all it does is sends me to the restroom.. I am soo sad ladies, it so so sad. I have no contractions nothing! just 50 effaced and been that way since 37 weeks! Im hoping she comes this week... I dont want them to force her out with induction but thats the best alt becuase the womb will not be a good place for her after 42 weeks.

Any way Mellie, I wish my story can end in your story! i wish my water would break something! I do not know your reasons for c section but we all have to do what we feel comfy doing and at the end of the day the decision was yours. Just like people say to me "why do a natural birth when there is meds available"? Its my decision and as long as my doc agrees then mind your BUSINESS! lolo. Congrats.
It sure seems like I will be the last one here preggo, Loopie your getting induced before me, so you will have urs before me...Im so sad, I am not even 1 centimeter! lolol. I have no idea what the hell is going on in there! I thought IVF due dates were an exact science, since there is no guess work in remembering when we had our last period.... I have not had 1 contraction no tightening of stomach and I think thats where my concern comes in at, becuase at my stage I should have something even if it isnt consistent! Thats y i dont think im a go in anytime soon because i doubt i will just wake up and start having contractions out of no where when i havent even had the false labor!I sure hope my body is working correctly!..

To all you mommies take care, and I will post back soon for an update!
LOOPIE, if you go in before me without induction I swear I am just going to CRY!!!

oh sweetie- I know how frustrated you must be by now, though I was pretty sure I was the last up until I just saw your message MBre- from what doc says, you can go from zero to heavy labor in no time, you don't need to work up to it- so that's what i'm hoping for.

could be a TMI moment....She did scrape my membrane since i was 1 cm and Doc could get her finger through my cervix- ouch- it pretty much hurt like heck, but she said it could move things along- then again, it may do nothing!

ok mbre- let's have these babies and move over to parents after treatment-
deal!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Jomae-so glad you and Katie are doing well! Sorry about the trouble with bfeeding, I hope she gains weight fast! Love how your DS responds to her, I hope to be like you in a year with a DS and DD!
MellieWhat a beautiful family! Evie is adorable! I am so glad your c-sec went well and you feel well!
Katie Parker is just gorgeous! I didn't realize bfeeding was so hard either, my nipples are about to fall off and on fire! I hope it gets better!
Loopie- love your artwork, very cool to be able to create like this! I bet you are going crazy, I can't imagine being overdue... come on baby we need to move to the parents thread!! ;) be careful walking your little pup!
Mbre- wishes for delivery soon!

I am finally starting to recover from my c-sec, yickes. still no bladder sensation. :( skid wanted to hold the baby so she could tell evryone esle about it (other than that she could care less) so I cringed and gave in with my heart pounding, it lasted 2 min cause he was crying. we had a nice 15 day break from having her and it was great now she is back and already causing DH and i added stress :(

Yay for Jomae and Mellie! Congratulations girls!

Well, it's 4:22am. I gave Abby her 3am bottle and she is sitting here in her bouncy seat as wide-eyed as ever! I guess sleep is a little over-rated anyways. And I am sure I'm not the only one of us mommies who is up right now. :D

Abby has been home for 10 days now. We've had very little sleep but otherwise things are good. Since she came home and started on formula she has had a little reflux. It's nothing worth putting her on meds for, but we try to keep her upright for about an hour after each meal to ease her discomfort. It's an interesting experience coming home after a long stay in the NICU. People keep checking in on us. Social workers. In home nurses...etc. It seems like every day there is a nurse that wants to come by and check on her, and each one is from a different organization. I am so confused as to who is who and what organization does what. I guess it's because Abby came home with her colostomy. Oh...we went to the pediatrician yesterday. My big girl weighs 5 pounds! Yay! She's 8 weeks old and weighs a whopping 5 pounds!

I'm so glad everyone is doing well. I can't believe Loopie and MBRE are still hanging in there at 40+ weeks! I can't imagine it, but I guess it's better than delivering too early. You will have big, strong, healthy babies, and thank goodness for that!

Well, it looks like the Peanut may have finally passed out, so I'm going back to bed. DH has the next bottle. He's been so awesome...switching off every other feeding with me. 2 nights ago, he even took the midnight and 3am bottle so that I could take an Ambien and get some rest! Can you believe it?!?! He must have been tired of looking at the dark circles under my eyes.

Ok seriously...back to bed now.

Mbre - It must be so frustrating to be so ready and have to wait. If it's any help, I never felt any contractions before the day Evie was born. Maybe your body will jump straight into labor like that.

Loopie - Hanging in there? Scraping the membranes sounds painful. Actually, I found all of the pelvic exams surprisingly painful. I didn't realize how much that was gonna hurt.

Jomae - Of course there's nothing to feel guilty about. Formula is a good option and it's not your fault that things didn't work as you planned. For what it's worth, I've been pumping and had some bad sores just a few days after my little one was born. The nurse gave me these gel pads that they put on burn victims to wear in my bra. They are awesome! They healed me up and I haven't had a problem since. I thought you might be interested in asking about them if you haven't tried that already. Has anyone else used these?

Corny - 5 pounds! Yay!

Rio - How are you feeling? Is it getting better? How's bub?

We gave Evie her first bath last night. We were woefully inept. She alternated between crying and looking at us like we were complete idiots. It was both funny and traumatizing for DH and me.

hang in there and loopie and Mbe get some sleep while you can the last week I was over was the longest most frustrating week. breast feeding is so hard my nipples feel like they are going to fall off. I cringe when he latches on and intense pain shoots through my body until i get used to it. I amgoing to give it another week before I try strictly pumping and if that doesnt get better im going to switch. anyways enough about that----I am lucky Parker is really laid back and calm. That scares me that he will all the sudden go to the other extreme.lol. Well does anyone know when you are sopposeed to stop waking them up to eat and let them wake up on their own?

Jomae - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I am so glad you and Katie are home safe and sound. Don't worry about the jaundice. Declan had it too and it cleared up in a week or so. It did make breast feeding difficult though and I think that is why we didn't stick with it. I am still pumping though. It was soooo difficult for me to admit defeat and the hospital staff really kinda made me feel bad about it. Don't let it get to you. You have to do what is good for both you and bub. She will be fine.

Loopie - I am so sorry that you are overdue!!! I would be going crazy. Hang in - at least you are starting to dialate.

Mbre - I am soory you too are over your due date but at least you have a birth date planned. I hope things move along before that time though. I will think happy labor thoughts for you!

Rio - Declan and I are doing well. DH had to go back to work after having three weeks off with us and it was really hard. He works 24 hour shifts and so he won't be back until Sunday night. This is my first time alone with the baby and I am nervous - especially about dealing with the middle of the night feedings/pumping. Wish us luck!

Corny - I checked out your blog and the pictures are adorable!!!! I am so glad Abby is home and doing well. Yep, I am also up at 4am many mornings. I am a walking zombie. It is great that you are having so many people checking up on Abby. It must make you feel pretty secure. When does she get her colostomy off? Has your DH been busy with the fires down there? Mine got out of going to them because he was home with us, but he is back to work as of tonight and I am really hoping that there are no more fires so that he doesn't get sent down there.

Mellie - Your bath story is perfect!! Declan looked at us like we were stupid too. Actually, he does that a lot. Mark and I feel so inept most of the time. I hope it gets easier!

Did anyone think of a good name for the parents thread? We are all almost there!

Hi girls
firstly Loopie and MBRe thinking of you and hoping your smack in the middle of giving birth right now so you too will be mummies.

thanks for the support on the feeding thing with ds i didn't even want to breastfeed him or so i thought until he was born and then it was very disappointing when i couldn't do it and with katie i've been busy researching the how to's of breast feeding and really wanting it to work and now that it hasn't i've just had to tell myself that its ok and to get on with it so i don't end up in the same state as last time.
Gecko your right about the hospital every poster about feeding is about breast feeding and you tend to feel guilty about not being able to keep feeding sorry have to cut chort katies looking for a feed

post again shortly JOMAEXXX

Gecko- hope going solo won't be too stressful for you for a bit- I know you can do it!!!
as for BF- yeah, i've heard it can hurt quite a lot and am pretty nervous about it myself, but I've also heard some babies don't latch correctly and that can make for a very painful experience for you, and not as much satisfaction for them- my friend contacted a lactation consultant through her hospital- they came to her house, and it was a great help to her and they learned together how to make it work as she was at her wit's end

speaking of wits end.... still here, awake at 4AM and nothing - I am actually starting to get pretty upset and had a good cry.
maybe tomorrow?

hey- any of you using cloth diapers? I can't remember- after the 1st couple of weeks( if that ever happens) we're going cloth- or going to try to,at any rate.

best to all of you -
MBre- hope you are not getting this note  much luck!

Loopie" Good luck if you use cloth. I would just hate washing them all the time and getting the poop out of them. Too time consuming for me. But, more power to you if you use them. I do not know anyone who uses them so I can not help you there. I know they sell them in stores! lol I see them all the time!

Ok, who do we have left that needs to pop? Hopefully we are all there!

How is everyone doing on their sleep? It is hard keeping them awake during the day so that they will sleep at night...it is a hit or miss still.
