Just wondering if there's anyone out there that had a early scan at week 6 didn't see a heartbeat but went on to see one later?
We had an amazing natural pregnancy recently, but today had our first ultrasound. While everything else was fine, there was no heartbeat found. I thought I was 6-1/2 weeks, but the machine said I was 6 weeks, 1 day....anyway, looking for some positive stories.
So far, I've only seen negative ones
Thanks.

suzhan:
I'll agree w/ JustinesBaby, it is common not seeing a heartbeat @ 6 wks. I didn't even see one @ week7, week 8, or even week 9. But at my week 10 u/s, then we got to see it.
Just hang in there and take care of yourself. Just relax and follow your doctors instructions/appointments.
Keep us informed. Congratulations on your BFP!

Hi suzhan,
Please do not lose hope yet. It seems lot of people don't get a heart rate at 6 weeks. I will be thinking about you and hoping for the best.
***hugs**

Thanks everyone....I'm trying to keep a positive spirit, but everything I've read says they really should have seen the heart beat by then. This, combined with the fact that my symptoms seems to be quickly going away, makes me think things are not doing well. There's nothing much I can do about it, of course, and I'll find out one way or the other on Friday. I really am sad but like I said, am still trying to keep positive and focused on other things.
Thanks again for the quick replies.

Hi suzhan
I didn't have a proper heartbeat at 6 weeks but I just had another scan at 7 weeks and everything was fine. It is really common not to have a heartbeat at 6 weeks.
I hope everything works out well for you - have my fingers crossed
Take care and good luck
Lola

Oh Suzhan I know too well the stress you are going through. The waiting is so horrible. I wish you peace in the meantime and hope that your outcome is better than mine. I've talked to a number of ladies who didn't see a HB at 6 weeks but did at 7.

I got my next scan today. We did see a heartbeat, but the baby hadn't grown very much (was 6 weeks, 1 day on Monday and 6 weeks, 3 days today) and the heart beat was between 113-122 (did two measurements and got two different results.) They want to see a strong heartbeat over 120, so the second result was good, but the first wasn't. Basically, my doctor said that there's nothing much to do but wait and see if it gets stronger in a week - so another scan is scheduled for next Friday. Has anyone ever seen this and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy?
Thanks - trying to keep up the pma.

Hi Suzhan,
I really think you and the baby are going to be fine. I think you got some positive results from the latest scan. So, let's hope for the best!

Hi Suzhan, remember me? I just read your post. I just wanted to tell you you are in my thoughts and I pray your little one gets stronger. Also congratulations. A natural pregnancy, how amazing!
Hendrix had a low heartbeat when I was 6 wks PG (113 bpm) and grew big and strong while inside me. He was always turning around and I always said he would come out break dancing. Today he is doing so great and has always been the bigger twin. I think I read that anything over 110 bpm is ok. It's on the low end but still OK.

Hey mia - great to hear from you and thanks for the good wishes. From everything I read, they really prefer to see a heartbeat at 120 or above by 6-1/2 - 7 weeks, so I guess we're borderline....but, I'm trying to keep the pma! I'm so glad to hear the twins are doing well. I haven't heard much from any of our original aug '06 group, but did see that sam had a second ivf cycle and it was a bfp! So, I guess she's on #2 as well.
Deepa and Justine - thanks so much for the good wishes, it really means a lot.
I go from days being positive to days being super worried and stressed, but I know there's nothing I can do right now but pray and hope, so I'm just staying focused on that. I'll let you know what happens on Friday - eek, 3 more days!

Suzhan, my dear old buddy!!, I was so happy to read your post that you are pg again, and naturally!!!, I have been checking this thread all the time crossing my fingers that everything is ok, and I am sure it will be. I mean, there is a heartbeat, and it is a good one, we are not talking in the 70-80's but a nice 115-120's which is great!!, I am sure everything will be ok, I will keep checking on you and wishing you the best!!!!!

Thanks for all the good wishes, but I got the sad news today. I think I expected it, not that it makes it easier, but at least it wasn't a shock.
The baby isn't growing (still measures at 6 weeks, when I should be 7 or 8 weeks.) And, the heartbeat is still slow - 115 to 119 - when it should be well over 140 by now.
So, my doctor said the baby's heart will slowly stop and then I can decide to have a natural m/c or a D&C. I go in for another ultrasound next Tuesday to confirm everything, but he says there's really no hope and this is the outcome to expect.
I'll probably take a break for a while.
