Sorry for being so out of touch...but I do have a great excuse. Our triplets were born on Oct. 4th at exactly 30 weeks. We just brought them all home together this past Saturday Nov. 22 and they are 37 weeks 4 days gestational age today.
Sophie Grey - 2 lbs. 14.3 oz.
Logan Scott - 2 lbs. 14 oz.
Kahne David - 3 lbs. 2.6 oz.
We spent 7 long weeks in the NICU but we had very healthy babies with very few issues to worry about. Prematurity related breathing, but only on ventilators for 2 days and CPAP fpr 3 days. We just had to let them "cook" and grow longer in the isolets. I stayed at the Ronald McDonald House the entire time and spend every minute I could with them at the hospital.
They came home at:
Sophie Grey - 5 lbs. 8 oz.
Logan Scott - 4 lbs. 13 oz.
Kahne David - 6 lbs. 8 oz.
We did have a major setback with Logan on day 8, but it was the hospitals error and not his little bodies. The PICC line (peripheralli inserted central catheter) perforated his pericardium and surrounded his heart with his lipids (food), which stopped his heart. The nurse put him on a ventilator immediately and started chest compressions. All the medical team got there and continued chest compressions for 75 minutes total. The nurse had pulled the PICC line outabout 15 minutes in after she had a "feeling" that it could be causing the problem. The doctor stuck a needle in his heart and drained the fluid, but they could still not get his heart started. I was called and rushed over at about 20 minutes into all of this and had to watch my son dying. The doctor asked permission to stop resue attempts and I gave it. He then showed me xrays of the line and what the exact problem was. He then went over to little Logan and put his stethocope to him to pronounce him dead...but my little fighter decided to start his own heart after 8 minutes of no compressions. One blip showed up on the screen and then two more. The medical staff started working on him again and his little heart kept beating. He was in critical condiition for 10 days and slowly began to get better and then just seemed to take a huge turn and began getting better very quickly.
I know many people would say that this was the grace of God that brought him back to me, but I actually prayed to my grandparents as I was watching all of this and I prayed "Please take care of my little baby for me, but I would really like it if you would not take him yet and give him back to me" They always loved me so much that they listened and sent him back to me to love and take care of.
Now we will just watch all three babies developmentally, especially Logan, and let them grow into healthy happy babies. Right now everyone is doing well and my husband is downstairs with them feeding.
I hope everyone si doing well and I will go back and read all the posts to get current on everuone situations.
Happy Thanksgiving
