Happy Holy-Days

Postby Literatriz » Fri Dec 26, 2008 5:03 pm

Hi all,
Nice to read you all telling how things are progressing well in spite of shortened cervixes, embarrassing constipations and worrisome anemias...
I am wishing you all a restful time, no matter which religious tradition you embrace.
I have pushed myself a bit to host our older children and celebrate. They are dealing well with this late-blooming mamma and we had fun. This morning, tough, I woke up very very tired and DH measure my blood pressure 140 x 76. It has beel always max 120 x 65 but I am not that worried for now. But the fact is, i am feeling heaaaaavy and swolen. My office is such a mess and the house if not ready to host the friends and relatives that will stop by if they are born sooner than we anticipated. In short, I am started to worry, which is not much my style.
DH is being an angel. Hope we don't need to go through the constipation rictuals that test couples in the limits of compassion and and tolerance. But if that is required...I am much more prepared now, after reading your experiences. I am more ready to support the humiliation of gas, cramps and everything else that exposes our human condition.

Thanks for the nutrition suggestions! I am going to buy plums and high-fiber breakfast stuff!

Happy Holidays, and let's get ready to hold those babies in 2009!

LUCIANA---how are you doing my dear? how's your blood pressure? sounds like you're getting ready for the little ones to come. I hope you can hold on the most possible so the babies grow bigger and stronger inside your belly. Thinking of you. By the way, I thought it was so sweet what you said about your older kids...cute! how old are they?

I went for a check up today and everything is fine with this little girl. I had become a little paranoid after a couple of people have made comments such as "your belly is small, I would expect you to be bigger by now" and "why is your belly so low? women with low bellies tend to have premies"....Oh God!!! I talked to my midwife and she told me not to worry about anything people say, she asked me to tell them to back off and to say that I was "a cute pregnant woman" lol! she is so sweet :) Anyway, I'm more relaxed now.

How are you all doing? we're having our babies this coming year...it's so surreal!

JENNIFER-- is good to hear from you ;)

DONNA--how was your Christmas craziness? 8)

SONU--hi friend!

BABYLOVES--hi doctor friend!

Hello everyone!!!!
Well, we have officially reached the last day of 2008. My DH was right. He told me back in November that with all the holidaysand craziness in December that I would blink and January would be here. Each day is another day closer to meeting our little bundles!!! :D
Christmas eve and Christmas day were crazy over here. Good, but crazy. My mom ws so cute, she had a whole bag full of gifts for the baby for DH and I to open. She said "how could I buy for my two grandchildren and not my third". I thought that was so cute! It was so different for us to open up non-girlie things. The day after Christmas, I slept until 1:00. I was so tired. tonight my DH has to work in Times Square for the ball drop. (he is on the police dept). So I will ring in a quiet New Year with my girls and mom and stepdad.
Overall, I am feeling good. My back is starting to bother me a bit from the weight I guess and the excema is still driving me crazy  , but nothing crazy...Thank God.

How are you all doing?
Esperanza~ How was your holidays with your friends? Is DH back yet? You must have missed him alot. Your midwife is right, don't let people make you crazy. If your belly is small, then God bless you! My friend is 3 weeks behind me, and has just started to show. If you saw her, you would never guess she was pregnant. When you put us next to eachother and tell people we are only 3 weeks apart, they can't believe it. She looks fantastic.
Sonu~ How are you feeling dear? Hope all is well with you since that last scare
Lit~ Are you resting up and getting ready for those 3 little ones? I know it will be probable that you will go early with 3. What goal has your doctor set for you as far as how long he would realistically like you to carry? Hope your holidays were good!

Jenny~ Hope you are feeling well also.

HAPPY NEW YEAR LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to a wonderful 2009!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is everybody???? :( :( :(

DONNA--dh is not back yet, he's coming back this Friday, and I CAN'T wait! I'm glad he went away because he needed it and deserved it BUT I've been missing him a lot. On the other hand, it's been good to be alone, I've done some good cleaning and redecoration of our apartment (I've been doing a little bit everyday so not to exhaust myself), I've also been doing a whole lot of resting, watching movies and tv    For Christmas eve, day + 3 more days I stayed with my friends in El Paso, I was supposed to go for 2 days and ended up staying 5. For New Year's eve I stayed by myself for the first time in my life. I could have gone some where but all of the sudden I had this fear of drunk drivers, something my gut was telling me to take it easy and stay home. I did watch the ball drop in Times Square, I thought of you and your DH; God it was so freaking cold upthere, poor guy had to work through that, I hope it wasn't too bad for him.

I've had a lot of energy for the most part (although I do have to take brakes because I get tired quick) but today I've been tired. I don't know what's up? I think my girl is going through a growth spur because last night and this morning I had some uncomfort in my lower abdomen, and felt some stretching...maybe my body is tired because of that. It's unreal to think that I'm almost in the 3rd trimester. Have you all noticed how our tickers are in the double digits already (for days left)? wow! I need to start thinking about registry and getting some essentials. One of our friends has offered to organize a baby shower for us in late february. I almost cried when she said that because we only moved here 5 months ago.

I have a bunch of tests to do including the glucose one. Anybody has that one done yet? I think SONU did, right? I will go to the hospital and do it sometime later this week or beginning of the next. They will also check my thyroid hormone levels, iron, etc.

I hope everyone is doing well...c'mon!!!!! share something with me :x :x :x Are you all doing ok?

LUV.

Esperanza, Glad all is well with you. I agree about starting to get really tired lately. I am a nurse and on my feet all day, so by the time I get home, the swelling in my ankles & feet is horrible!!! I'm also happy you have had some time for yourself. Some alone time is always a good thing. This is my second child-my 1st is 3 yrs old, and one thing I miss is being able to rest whenever I wanted to. A three year old doesn't understand or allow that. (ha-ha) I too will be going for my glucose test soon, on the 15th-as I remember, it wasn't that bad. The 3rd trimester is upon some of us, and almost upon some of us-LUCKY US! Let the countdown begin SOON!!!!! Jennifer

Hi ladies...it's been too quiet here
Esperanza: sorry you're so tired dear..have you had a cbc looking for anemia just in case...most likely its what you described...baby moving and growing - i think babies are around 2 lbs at this week 26-27 - that's pretty big! Yeah...it noticed the double digits too...we only have a few more months!

i had a 1 hour GTT and it was just off by 2 points but i still have to go for the 3 hour test. I was kinda surprised that i would have a high glucose as i'm petite and in good health before pg. If its genetic, then it makes more sense. Anyway, the 3 hr is annoying: its like 4 blood tests within 3 hrs - ugh. For now, i'm trying to lay off my every other day ice cream treat - never eat so much of it in my life :D

Jenny: that must be hard to be on your feet all day...are you working right up to delivery time? Try to put up your feet at least once if you can 8)

How's everyone else?

JENNY--wow! yes, you do work a lot. I'm sure it's going to get more challenging as the pregnancy progresses. What are your plans? are you going to work until the very end?

I agree, I am thankful for the "alone" time as well; now that DH is coming back in a couple of days I'm enjoying it even more. So you have a three years old...nice! I watched one of those discovery channel baby stories today, the couple had twins and they already had two other kids. It was challenging at first, but they got used to it and ended up loving it.

YEAH, THE COUNT DOWN HAS STARTED!!!!

BABYLOVES--yeah, I had more energy today, but I can definitely feel the difference. I had an urge to take a nap in the middle of the afternoon. I haven't been sleeping well at night, so that maybe adding to it. I actually have to do the blood test in the next few days so I'll find out if I have some anemia. Yeah, this belly is getting heavier and bigger, I can also feel my girl moving a lot. I like to call her my little dancer (both dh and I love to dance so I like to joke that she has inherited that from us!).

Sorry to hear you have to go through the 3 hours glucose test, sucks! When are going for it? I hope you get to "pass" that one. I'll go for mine either this Friday or early next week. My midwife advise me not to eat carbs that morning (she said, just have protein, like eggs, that's it), and not to eat too much sweet or carbs the night before. I'm with you on the ice cream...I never really bought ice cream to keep at home before, now? you should check my freezer! During my first trimester it was hangen danz "dulce de leche"...it had to be THAT one, now, almost anything goes ;)

Esperanza: my test is next week, wed...i think i made the mistake of having a big bowl of pasta for lunch the day of my 1 hr...although i don't know if it matters as your body should be able to metabolize the glucose anyway...oh well. Better luck on yours...hopefully we can both eat as much ice cream as we want :D

Hi Everyone!
I'm so glad to see the post is back up and running. I thought everyone had left town.

ESPERANZA~ I hear you with this whole tired thing. I too am reliving the exhaustion of the first trimester. I do find myself waking up alot in the night though too. Only now, when I want to roll over to the other side, I have to either grab the head board and pull myself over, or bend my leg and thrust my body to the other side. How about getting out of bed? You have to roll onto your side, sit up and then stand up. No more lifting yourself straight up.... too much belly. :D So glad to hear that DH will be back soon. You must miss him. My DH has been trying to pick up alot of overtime at work so that we can do the cord blood banking when the baby is born. Glad to hear your holidays went well.

Jenny~ I also have kids at home 2 dds (9 and 4). Lucky me though, my 4 y/0 just started full time school in September, so the worst for me is to drag myself out of bed in the morning, get them ready, and then once they are in school, I pretty much have the rest of the day to myself, unless I am working. I am in healthcare too. I worked as an EMT for the NYC fire dept. for 10 years, and now I teach BLS ALS and CPR classes per diem. I would love to go to nursing school, just can't seem to find 2 free years of my life at this point. I don't know how I'd juggle it. Are you in a hospital? You must run ragged all day. Try to take it easy, hopefully they cut you some slack during the third trimester.

Babyloves~ When did you have your glucose test? I have mine this friday. I just remember that yucky syrupy stuff that was like flat orange soda. Still the same? When do you have to go for the 3 hour test? Hopefully all is well. From what I hear, you could be as healthy as an ox, and when you get pregnant, anything is game. My biggest fear is preeclampsia. My blood pressure is always good, but I started this pregnancy overweight, and I have had friends suffer preeclampsia, and it was so hard on them, and their babies were born premature etc. I try to watch my salt intake, but like you all when it comes to ice cream......stand back, I'm comin' through :D . Keep us posted and good luck with the glucose test!!!

As for me, I too was so excited to see only 2 digits left to the countdown!! I went yesterday with my friend to register, and couldn't believe the amount of things that I had forgotten about that I would be needing. I really kept the list short because I have 2 children already, but there is still so much you need....bottles,bedding,highchair,stroller. It was so much fun, but exhausting, so if you're going, pace yourself. I have my glucose test on Friday, and next week I go to see if my low lying placenta has moved on upward in the uterus. If not, I am at risk for the placenta Acretta which has me so nervous. It's strange because I am not usually a worry wart, but this pregnancy has me so nervous. Otherwise all is well. I am getting rounder by the minute it seems, and I am thinking that like esperanza has the dancer, I may have the kick boxer. He ejoys "working out" usually around 3 am. Hopefully that will change when he is on the outside. My 4 y/o DD was sick from new years day with 103.0 fever. I looked like someone entering a hazardous materials incident. I had on a mask when I had to nebulize her, and gloves to give medicine and take temps. My doc said..... be careful, you do not want to get a high fever now, so I was like a freak walking around my house trying to care for her. Thankfully she is all better, and I am hoping everyone stays well until delivery.

I am 50!

Postby Literatriz » Fri Jan 09, 2009 4:09 pm

Hi girls! So good to have time and energy to check our thread and find you there!
I am turning 50 today. Funny how tearful and sensitive I am, thinking about struggles, hard decisions and daring steps. DH made me his wonderful pancakes and family is already starting to call. I had a baby shower two weeks ago - that was a real celebration. For my babies and for me ( I was a lonely child and always craved friends)!
Babies are OK, weighting between 1 pound and 9 ounces and 1 pound and 4 ounces. I gave up Hagen Daas :) after DH reached 240 pounds...is has been hard for him to have so many goodies around. And I want him to be healthy!!! As AlreadyBlessed's husband, he does need to work very hard!!!!
Esperanza, don't worry about the size of your belly or any other silly thing. You are doing super-fine with your dancing baby! Play music and dance (no violent salsa twists!) with her! I hope you enjoy your baby shower. You are a brave woman, moving to a new town, having a baby and letting DH travel away!!!!BTW, how is the weather overthere now?

Alreadyblessed, I feel like a heavy clumsy beetle when I try to get up in the middle of the night (again) to go to the bathroom - the limbs try to move the rest but the trunk is waaaay too heavy. The ligaments hurt and the back has that piercing pain - no fun, right? We will forget all that after the birth! I've learned that rest also helps preventing pre-eclampsia (as well as go easy on refined sugars and carbs). .

Jennywit, I laughed when you wrote about being swollen. I love shoes - nothing fits anymore. One day I left the school I work and I went straight to the Salvation Army - bought a U$ 3.99 mocassins 10 1/2 (I am an 8 1/2) and let me tell you, it fits me much better than the expensive pair of boots I had purchased before. I gave up trying to use compression tights - what a drag to put them on!
Cant' you put your feet up in the middle of the day? (my doctor gave me a note re: limited walking, frequent pauses, etc). I hope so! When are you planning on staying at home?

Hope every one is doing find, avoiding pre-eclampsia and keeping blood sugar levels as low as possible!
Happy Weekend, Luciana
