Postby jm108 » Sat May 23, 2009 4:16 pm

I had 2 embryo's transfered 5-9-09. Beta at 10dp5dt 420! Beta at 12dp5dt 707. They did not double. The nurse said to remain cautiously optimistic but I am very worried.

Check out this site:

http://babymed.com/Tools/pregnancy/hcg/

You can plug in your numbers and see that everything is fine. It looks like your original numbers were on the high side, maybe indicating multiples. Everyone says double in 2 days, but that is not accurate. The doubling time is anywhere from 48-72 hours, so they say they look for atleast a 60% increase in 2 days, and according to your numbers and that website I gave you, you increased 68%, so I really wouldn't worry.

Congratulations on your pregnancy :D

Hi jm108,

My beta at 15dp3dt was 868, 2nd beta 17dp3dt was 1496. Clearly didn't double in 48 hours but I wasn't worried because my nurse told me the numbers looked great. 3rd beta was 3149 and I'm pregnant with twins :D. Michele's correct in the 48 hour thing being inaccurate. Congratulations!

Jm- I know how you feel and it's hard not to worry when your betas don't double in 48 hours. Mine doubled 83% the first time then slightly more than doubled for my third beta. As the prior posts state, greater than 60% is indicative of a healthy pregnancy.

keep in mind that not all women double at the same rate and a very high precentage go on to have healthy pregnancies. The higher the initial beta, the more difficult it is to double.

I worried myself sick after my first beta and it was so unnecessary!
