HELP! NEED YOUR INPUT!!

About two weeks ago I had a light spotting one time after sex.
Last night I went to pee before going to bed and when I wiped I KNEW I was bleeding because I could just feel it. Sure enough when I looked at the paper there was a huge smear of red mucousy blood. I checked my underwear and there were a few dots. Of course, I couldn't sleep. This was more than just a tiny spotting. However, I stayed up and checked every little bit until 3:00 a.m. and never had anything else. Well, at church this morning when we stood up for our final hymn I felt a gush. I went to the bathroom and there was a lot of watery/white discharge with some brownish gray stuff????? I am not sure what to think. I've had cramping, but I've had that all along. I get it a LOT. A lot of times I can't even sleep because I've got cramping. They keep telling me it's a side effect of the progesterone. What do you all think. I told hubby I'm on self- perscribed bedrest! I hate that it happened on a holiday weekend. I'm going to call dr. Tuesday and let them know what's been going on.
Do you guys think this is ok? I only worry so much because just last week in a convo. my mom told me that when she had a miscarriage she spotted off and on for awhile for a week or two before finally loosing the baby. Please help me!

Lw: if u do not have a full flow that is completely red then chances are that things are ok. Especially if it is now brown -which is left over blood. during my last pg i had red gushing blood flowing down my legs. it was horrible and it was over a weekend. So i stayed on the sofa the entire weekend and did not move. My legs were up. After the first nite, it had reduced a lot and by sunday it was mostly brownish. I went for an u/s on monday and found out that the baby was absolutely fine and that i had a subchorionic hematoma which went away. This is apparently common. So hon if it stopped i would not try and worry but def be on bed rest until u see the doctor. Hoping for good things!

Thank you so much for your input Babies. That makes me feel better. Since today was a holiday I figured I'd wait until morning and call the dr. However, out of the clear blue the dr. called ME! (He has NEVER called me). He just happened to be speaking with the specialist and found out i needed to come in earlier than planned to measure my cervix. I told him what was going on this weekend and he said come on in in the morning and he'd do a quick u/s. Make me feel better! I'l let you know how it goes.

Hey everyone.. How is everyone doing? I do apologize for my absence.. I have a lot of catching up to do.. .. First, welcome to all the new ladies who have joined us.

LW.. I want to tell you that spoting is totallynormal and thank heavens it has come down and turned brown. Also excited that the DR called you, everything happens for a reason. I know your scan will go great this morning... Do you think you are going to have to get a cerclage? I know my Dr is requesting I get one at 14 weeks to be cautious , since we don't really kno the reason if my lost.

Tortilla... Baby B seems like at rue fighter and I am having very positive thoughts they are going to make it through.. I understand how hard it may be right now, just stay prayerful.

Babies... yay for the transition to the OB.. I know my last visit with the RE was also bitter sweet. you don't have long before your OB appt which is good, not much time to worry.. I have a long month in between.

Dogz... I know you were happy to get taken of the estradoil.. My RE didn't even check to see what my levels were, she just gave me a date to stop.... I was also told to stop the prog too at 10 weeks, that is quite scary... I am glad to here your numbers are climbing..

AFM, things are going well.. The morning (all day) sickness seems to be calming down a bit. I still can;t eat much, but it is getting better. I have lost about 4 pounds, I am sure I will gain them all in the following months if all goes well. I have my next OB appt the 17th, so I am looking forward to that, then my NT scan is the 28th. Can't want to see the little one. I had better luck with the doppler today, with the morning sickness not in full force anymore it was quite comforting to find the heartrate with much searching this morning... :D

lw, sending you good thoughts, hope you are reassured by the ultrasound! it sounds like things will be okay.

i myself am still scared by light bleeding, even though most everything i have read online says is is common (happens 20-30% of the time) and usually doesn't mean anything. right now, sorry if tmi, i have very very light bleeding and it's dark in color, but even though i know it's probably nothing to worry about, i still worry! i kind of wished it was more commonly talked about, but even then, i would worry. welcome to motherhood for all of us, worrying even this early! i am trying to take it easy, which my dr. advised and which i've also read online is a good idea.

tortillachip, thank you for your reassurance to me about the fetal measurements. and i know how worried you must be about wanting to see the 2nd heartbeat, but like everyone said, i 've read that sometimes it is just hard to see because of the position, and it sounds like things are going well with the sac growth. i will also say prayers for you. like you said, i am also not that religious, but i have become much more religious since doing ivf and have prayed a lot more!

everyone else, i have been reading your updates and i look forward to hearing more about how you are doing.

LW - I am praying for you. Have you found anything out today?

I am now 6w5d and had my first ultrasound today. Fetus is measuring right on target at 6w5d and there is a heartbeat. However, the yolk sac is measuring a week behind. RE has me coming back next week for another check, but obviously I am not feeling very good about this. Has anybody here experienced this?

Hello mommies :-)

Yesterday I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks and 4 days. The doctor was grinning ear to ear and told me everything was perfect, measuring just as it is supposed to and then we heard the heart-beat it was between 120-125 which the doctor said is great.

I am cleared to go to my "normal" OB now and I feel great!

Still no sickness, spotting or cramping but must admit I feel like the odd-ball because everyone seems to experience some of these which is normal.

Doctor said she could tell if there would be any bleeding and she said I was in the clear. Not sure what she was able to look for, I found that interesting.

I must admit I was kind of hoping for twins but after all we have been through I am so incredibly thankful for our miracle. My heart goes out to all the ladies that go through all this emotional and physical pain and have to try again, I was trying to prepare myself for that everyday but thank God we were blessed.

Cressicaw: Congrats! Woohoo! I'm so happy for you. So you go back to your OB this early? I don't go back until week 12 or 13.

Skipper: Don't worry too much about it...as long as the baby is growing. It could be a late implant...therefore, throwing the perceived date of conception off. Breathe and keep that baby growing. Congrats!

Liana: I'm sorry you're nervous. Everything will be ok. I understand you;re scared...but there are several women who have bled during their pregnancy that have had successful, to term, healthy babies. Thanks for your kind thoughts to me as well. I really appreciated it. :D

Truebeliever: I'm glad you're feeling better. All this talk about your Doppler is making me want to get one. How much are they?

LW: How are you doing? Did you goto your doctor today?

AFM: I'm feeling so damn emotional lately!!! I just felt like crying and had a sense of despair-must be the hormones!!!! It was really hard to work today...just didn't feel it. Is anyone experiencing this? Do you all work? If so, what is your profession? Just curious.

Thank you everyone for all of your support and wisdom. What a scary thing!
I did go to my OB and both babies are doing wonderfully. I was so relieved.
I go tomorrow to the specialist to have my cervix measured to know if I need the circlage. I go back next week for my 4th and final Ultrasound with my RE. I'll then go to the OB. WOW! Can't believe that.

Tortilla: When is your next ultrasound? I'm not really emotional- that I notice. My husband seems to think I am though. I'm not working. I just graduated nursing school and was waiting to start until I pass my boards. I figured if I got pregnant I could work through it. However, we talked about it and we knew with twins I couldn't work very long and I want to stay home for awhile anyway.

Cressicaw: Congrats on your ultrasound!!!!! How exciting.

Skipper: I've not had any experience with that. Have you looked online? Sometimes that does more harm than good though :( I hope all is well. I'm sure your little one just needed a little bit of extra time to get going!

Liana: Thank you for the reassurance and information. I see you put a new thread up about bleeding. I think that's a fantastic idea!!!!

Truebeliever: I find out tomorrow if I have to have the cerclage. I guess one of the problems with having the septum in the uterus as I do is that your cervix is highly suseptible to early dilation. I'm having it measured at a prenatal diagnostic center tomorrow and the specialist will decide what he thinks is best after that. I went into labor at 6 months with my daughter. Thankfully we were able to stop it. I never dilated past 2, just had severe productive contractions. At that time we thought it was due to dehydration, but not realize it was probably the pressure on the septum. We're worried to say the least at this point.

I am getting sicker as time goes on. I think as the babies produce higher hormone levels it is making me quezy. I will hopefully get past it soon.
Thank you all again for your help and information!!!

tortillachip - I know, I was surprised too. When the doc was watching the screen I was so intently watching her for some sort of expression that would tell me if she was concerned at all, I had to eventually turn away but she was really happy and excited and they are always soooo cautious and unexpressive.

So immediately asked me who my doctor was and I told her and she said she was excellent and she would be calling her and sending over all my records.

The only thing the nurse said is that if I want to come in again just to see the baby, I can but I am so relieved to go to my doctor now and get the heck out of that place.

The patients never smile or talk to each other, it is sooo depressing and just has bad energy. They are in the top 10 in the Country and they have very high success rates so I am blessed I got to go there but I am just too much of a happy/goofy person to be around that negativity anymore.

I opted to continue my shots till I run out (which will be at week 8) since I have had no reactions to them and they do not hurt at all. Then I will either take that once-a-day messy stuff or the twice a day pill-form (not sure which yet).

Cressi: That is great news. Congrats for moving on to u're OB.

Lw: so glad that everything is ok and u saw two beautiful heartbeats. Hope everything is smooth from here on.

I have not been feeling emotional at all. Thank goodness. But have been getting the worse headaches ever..usually in the evenings. And i always nap now for an hour when i get home from work. Is anybody else going thru this? I do IT audits for the federal govt - basically review system acquisitions across the govt and report out on what we found..

Skipper: I would ask my RE what this means and it is a reason for concern. Hopefully everything is ok which i thing it is. U may want to post something out there and see if anyone else can shed some light on this. Hugs.

Liana: As i mentioned on an earlier post, bleeding is very common so don't worry about it unless u are soaking a pad an hour (that is what my OB told me). Just rest up when it happens and see if it stops.

Can't wait for monday when i go to see my OB. Am also having a CVS done and have scheduled it for the 25th of Sept so will not be doing the Nuchal scan tests.

Hi All

Babies - I have been sleeping in the evening too. The thing is though when I wake up I start to feel really sick. Role on the second trimester and more energy

Cress - How long do you take progesterone for then? I stopped at 8 weeks. Glad things are going well for you.

Lw - so glad both babies are well. You must be so relieved. Do they know what caused it?

Tortilla - I know what you mean about work. It has always been so important to me and now I just don't feel like it. I work in a pharmaceutical company looking after new technologies and improvement projects for one sites QC labs.

Skipper - not sure what the sac measurement means but it must be good if baby is on track. Good luck next week.

AFM, well I am 11 weeks today! 2 more weeks to te secon trimester. I am always tired and have on off nausea. Only been sick a couple of times and have put on weight. My trousers are now tight and I have started to change shape. ALthough family and close friends know I think I will tell everyone else at work around 16 weeks. This is beacuse our next appointment is 12 Oct and I am on annual leave then so will tell them when I get back. What are you all doing?

angie - I will take the shots for 8 weeks and then the suppositories for 2 weeks, stopping at 10 unless OB says otherwise.

I have told quite a few friends, not everyone but probably a lot more then I should. I look at it this way, if something were to happen (Heaven forbid) I would have a lot of support. I just cant help it, I am sooooo excited. I have even gone on babys-r-us and picked out a few things like furniture.
