June 2010 Babies yet??

Announcement of pregnancy and birth following assisted reproductive treatment.

Postby t west » Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:48 am

This is my first. I have a 16 year old step son and 18 year step daughter. Other than that I am a first grade teacher...exhausted teacher at this point.=)
I know you mentioned a son...any other children? I am excited for your US on Tuesday. It is so wonderful to see the heartbeat!I don't go back again until Nov. 17th and I'm already back in the "I hope everything is ok" phase. I also worry about symptoms or should say the lack of symptoms
Kiwi-thanks for he website info. Very interesting.

kiwi - thanks for the website...I'll be checking it out shortly!

t west - I only have my son, who is now 21 months old as of yesterday, but he's a pure joy. My RE thinks I have "lazy" tubes, because I've had one successful IUI, but overall I've had 11 unsuccessful ones, and when I did the hsg both my tubes were open. Anyway, he thinks that my tubes are weak and won't open up enough to let the eggs float on through, which is why we tried IVF...and thank the Lord, it worked the first time (we had to pay out of pocket). I completely understand the waiting game...you try to conceive for so long, going through so many 2 ww and then you finally get pregnant and the waiting game starts all over again!

Keep your chin up, and remember we're all going through this together! I will definitely keep you all updated on my news after Tuesday!

BTW...what does AFM mean? And how do I keep my ticker posted?

Thanks,
Misty

Misty I just had my ultrasound yesturday. She said I was 5wks 3days. The tech was great and explained everything. The black circles are the sacs and the white inside is the yok. I don't think you would see the pole yet. But if you had 2 sacs and 2 yoks, you are in good shape and having twins by my guess. Also you want a white ring (hard to notice really) around the sac which shows good hormone levels and the uterus surrounding the sac. My tech said at this point having those things are what they are looking for. Your u/s sounds right on target.

Misty- AFM: As For Me

go to lilypie.com, create your ticker, Use the bb code one, but after you copy and paste it to your sig, delete everything that is before the [img]and%20everything%20that%20is%20after%20the[/img]. It will work once you do that.

I was laughing when you asked what AFM meant because I have no idea and have wondered often. Anyone else able to help us newbies?

Kala posted directions to get a ticker awhile back. Here is a copy:

Go to lilypie.com. Design your ticker (you get to use the one with three babyies, yay!). Use the bb code choice, but after you copy and paste it, delete everything that is before the [img]and%20everything%20that%20is%20after%20the[/img]. It will work once you do that.

Wow! You have been through alot. I am so happy that things are working for you. You deserve it and your little guy deserves some brothers/sisters!

My husband and I mc on our first attempt and know that this will be our last full cycle. We have one frozen that we can turn to down the road. My husband has had a vasectomy and finding swimmers proved to be quite a challenge last time leaving us no extras to freeze and the possibility of trying again near impossible. My miracle is growing as we speak. Just praying that he/she holds on tight!!

Its 8:15 and I am already ready to crash! I can't seem to get anything accomplished lately.
Have a great night!

lisa - thanks so much for the information...it definitely helped! I can't see a white ring around my gestational sacs on the print out my RE gave me, so I'm wondering if that will be a problem? Other than that, I have two nice size black circles (gestational sacs) with small white lines, which I guess sounds like the beginning of the yolk sacs...???...I'll take it as positive and try to relax until Tuesday...

kala - thanks for clarifying that for me!!! :D I know how to create the ticker (I did it earlier at work thanks to your great instruction), but I've noticed it doesn't stay up every time I post...any suggestions???? By the way, when are you due? I think your due date is close to mine too, if I remember correctly.

t west - I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was wondering about that! I have a good feeling about your pregnancy...you had a good, strong beta, so stay positive...

Misty-
I had my first u/s at 5w4d. I am having twins and was very shocked. My RE does the u/s's so he was showing and teaching me what stuff was. The sacs were very easy to see, as you know, black circles. The white lines are the fetus. That's why I call them my "rices" because in that photo they look like the size of white rice. He also showed me the yolk sacs. There was no ring at that u/s, but I did see one at 6w5d, so I know what you mean with your son. If you send me your email address I can send you scanned images of my u/s photos for that day. They are very clear, and that way you can tell if that is what you saw also. I have to say, if you saw two large black balls, and a rice in each one, then it's twins. We saw our twin's heartbeats last week. The rices grew a good bit though and didn't look like rice anymore. I still love that name and call them that. I know rice is plural, but I like the way "rices" sounds  BTW- Welcome & Congrats

Jaydent- Sorry for your loss. Remember that with any loss there comes mourning, and you just take as much time as you need. My heart is with you.

Ruthie- I have been thinking of you lately. I hope you are well. We are here for you if you need us. I understand though that this is the last place you want to be sometimes.

Sancap- (Amy) Hey, watch were your going Chica! No more falling down steps. Weren't you the one that DH was going to bubble wrap (maybe not), but it sounds like he needs to. BTW- I thought it was so cute that you called me Chica. One of my friends used to call me that all the time and it was funny to hear it again. Also, I want to go to the beach with you.. I am so jealous. We could even show off our "girls"- HaHa

Tony- Welcome. Isn't it amazing to see the heartbeats? Congrats. My doctor only showed us, it sounds like some have been able to hear theirs, but maybe his machine doesn't do that. I completely forgot to ask, since I was just so happy to visually see they were nice and steady, fast beats!
I used to work in Labor & Delivery so I knew just by sight that they were healthy. Never even got a number, but I just knew all was well.

Lisa- I think it's very safe to assume you just have one. Your nurse maybe new since most don't get you worked up about things before it's too early to even be able to tell. If she is new, she probably just got really excited.

Kala-I love that your 6"1'. If you want to have a natural labor (without pain meds) you would be an ideal canidate. Tall girls do really well in labor. They almost always go really fast and have very nice smooth deliveries. No matter what you decide, it should go well for you. I loved having tall patients. It's the little short one's that walk in with their 6'6" husbands that worried us. You pretty much knew they were headed for c/s since the babies had such a hard time coming out. Also, since your tall, you'll carry very nicely. You probably won't "show" as early as most because you have more room to carry a baby vertically than the average woman. You'll also be more comfortable at the very end then some, since you won't be just all baby.
As far as the beta thing, I think most of the hype comes from the wait. You wait to get your betas, and there's nothing else to do but obsess about them. The next u/s is at least a week away, so us crazy IVF'ers just have our beta numbers that come in occasionally to keep us busy and occupied. But as far as normals for singletons and twins, etc. Your right...it's all up in the air.
Hope your feeling better. I almost feel quilty between you and Shelby that I feel so "normal".

Dillysgirl- I agree with Kala about seeing your OB. Your going to see them anyway and establish a close relationship. Why not start it a little earlier? Maybe they'll be more understanding about your concerns.
I continue to have brown discharge at times, but not like last week where I had to wear a panty liner. It was very reassuring though, when that was happening to see the heartbeats and know all was well. After that I really relaxed about it, and I don't worry as much now when I spot a little becuase I knew they were OK when it was more. I agree that peace of mind is the most important thing right now. Stress can do a lot of bad things, and it's the last thing you need.

Shelby- Hope your doing better. I know some days are better than others. I guess the good thing about some of this is you know your still pregnant (not the UTI though :()

I know that there are others not on here. I went down as far as the forum would let me go on one page. So hope everyone is hanging in there.

AFM (As for Me)- Had a little energy today-Yeah. Do any of you feel pressure down there like where your uterus would be. Right above your pubic bone. I know that the doctor says it's from the uterus expanding, but I feel it a lot. It's different than the cramping too. I just don't remember it with my son, so I'm curious. It may be that since I have twins, things are growing quicker, or I'm just more aware of what is going on down there since I have been pregnant before. Just wondering.
Have a great day, Melanie

Thanks Melanie...I hope Im a nice tall preggo and not a polar bear like some of my friends. I think Im going to take the drugs for delivery though...I have a very low pain tolerace.
I have a ton of pressure on my lower abdomen too. Its not waves of cramps...it is more like the pressure/discomfort you feel right before your period. I think it is strange too. Im trying to stay on the couch/bed...that seems to help. Ill do some more research...let me know what you find out.

Misty-Im not sure whats going on with your ticker, maybe you should try again. I cant wait til your next u/s. it should be much clearer. My U/S is at 7 weeks, so Im hoping it will be nice and clear and ill see the hb. Do you know at what time you can hear the hb?

Ruthie & Jaydentd – I can’t begin to tell you how sorry I am. The only thing I can offer you is the understanding to know what it’s like to be in your shoes and know that it does get better. I will be praying for both of you! I want to ask before I change anything on the update list. How would you like me to handle that? I’ll do whatever you suggest.

Lisa –Shoot! Sorry you didn’t get the answers you were wanting. Again, we wait. When is your next u/s?

Kala – I’m ready! Come on down! I know some great places to eat in ATL. I feel like I’m actually doing better. My ‘morning’ sickness only happens about every other day now, but in the evenings. So glad to hear your YI is going away. Those ya-ya’s are so sensitive sometimes! Lol

Sancap – Girl, I’m going to put sticky tape on the bottoms of your feet! He…he… Cocoa Beach sounds great! Just a tip, I’m sure they will use wood that was from fresh trees on the fire, but in other fires, be sure they don’t burn treated wood. That smoke is not good to inhale even if you aren’t pregnant. I went to a bonfire a few weeks ago and the guy put a piece of treated lumber on the fire and used Kerosene and gas to light it. Needless to say, I stayed upwind and kept my distance.

Tonyacheek – Isn’t that the most wonderful sound?! I’m glad you came over!

Mharrell – Welcome! Another twin mommy!

Twest – Did DH cook you dinner last night? I love it when that happens!

Stats – I hope you don’t feel lonely in triplet land! How are you? Are you ready to chow down on some lunch? If you like pancakes, I don’t mind finding a Cracker Barrel. They have awesome breakfast choices for lunch.

Wow! I miss a few days and you ladies type like wild banshees! Ok, I have mostly recovered from that sinus crap! DH took very good care of me and made several late night runs for meds and tissue (when I get this stuff, I can’t use anything but Puffs plus with lotion tissue. Otherwise I look like Rudolph and my nose peels. YUCK!) I’m not sure how many Twilight fans there are among us, but I just got word that there will be a midnight showing in our town and I am so excited! We went last night to the premiere of the country’s first LEED certified theater in Chattanooga, TN. I have to say….very impressive. I’m going to enjoy going there. It has a 21 and over theater with electric recliners and personal waiters.
I hope everyone has a great weekend! Now it’s my turn to take care of DH. He has stomach issues and has to have his esophagus stretched from time to time. Well, today is the day. He feels so much better after it’s done! He’s going to be pretty drunk when I get him home….maybe I’ll take advantage of him! Just kidding! Lol!

Hey guys - well, it looks like it's been a bad week across the board. My heart goes out to ruthie and jaydent - I am so sorry to hear your news. We had a loss this week as well...we had our second ultrasound yesterday and found out we lost one of the babies. It looked like it stopped growing a few days after the first ultrasound, which is right around the time I had some painful cramping but no bleeding. The good news is that the other two are doing fine and measured right on schedule. One baby was turned and not really cooperating for pictures so much, but the other was turned so we could see where the little arms and legs were, and we could see both of their heartbeats. So, we're sad, although we know it is better for the health of all of us to have twins. We are just hoping they keep growing strong. Our next ultrasound is in three weeks, 11/24, and the wait is probably going to kill me this time.

Shelby - We are so on for lunch, and Cracker Barrel sounds good. I've been on a bit of a pancake kick anyway, LOL. And milkshakes, mmmmm! I'm a fan of the Twilight books, although I thought the first movie was dreadful (that jumpy film style makes me feel sick). It's a loooong story, but we have some jokes in the office about the wrongness of Twilight merchandise, and for my birthday I received a life-size cardboard cutout of Edward. He's still in the office, complete with a quote bubble taped to him that people still change the quotes on (and it's been 6 months...) LOL. So, we'll be off to see New Moon. Have you read Cleolinda (online)? If not, you absolutely have to read her blog on The Secret Life of Dolls. You will be cracking up so hard!!!!

melanie - my email address is mharrell@templejc.edu. I would LOVE to see an u/s of your "rices." Precious! Love the name. With my son it was peanut...but of course I didn't see him at the "rice" stage.

kala - I'll try the ticker again...is there something I should click to make it a "permanant" fixture???? I've researched this extensively, and it sounds like the heart begins to form (chambers) around the fifth week. Some people have heard the heartbeat at 5.5 weeks, but it looks like the majority have definitely heard it by 6 weeks on...especially if you've done IVF/IUI, because you know (within a day or two) of your conception!

stats - I'm sorry to hear about your loss. (((Hugs)))

kiwi - thanks for your post...I finally figured out what was going on! I did have my signature checked to show every time, but when I was pasting my ticker I was pasting it into the actual post and not the signature (under Profile)! DUH! :) It must be all the hormones, because that really is an obvious solution...I must now go take a nap....

Hope you ladies are having a fantastic Friday!
