Hello! Just a quickie for me because I'm about to get on the phone to tell family our news. It all went well at the scan, I'm in total shock that in 4 weeks the baby/foetus can go from being a 'blob' to an identifiable baby shape. The doctor we saw said that at 11wks3day he would hope that the baby would measure between 44 and 48mm head to toe - in fact, the baby is measuring 51mm so he/she is going to be tall like
DH and I. Just as long as the baby's not wide as well - ouch!!
DH found it amusing on the way home to inform me for the first time that he was a pretty big baby at birth!! We won't get the results of the blood test and our final assessment for the Downs Syndrome risk until Monday night, but he didn't find any of the high risk signs on the scan, so we're hopeful. Seeing the baby looking like a baby has made all of this seem a bit more real. I think it will sink in even more once we've told everyone our news.
katie - not long to go until your own scan, I'm counting down the days along with you! Mmmm, difficult question about your
OB/
GYN. Personally, I think I would prefer to go somewhere where I couldn't run across my ex-SIL, particularly if you think it likely that she might find out your background and then gossip about it. I guess the question is will that possibility stress you out more and more the closer to you get to the birth? You can do without any added stress!
Karen - welcome and congratulations on your
BFP!
Re exercising, I asked my clinic people what they recommended when I first found out that I was pregnant at 4wks2days. They pretty much said that, honestly, if the pregnancy is going to stick it's going to stick, regardless of what you do at this point (within reason). So no running marathons, but if your body is used to a certain level of exercise then it's perfectly fine to go back to it. I went back to my golf (which I play a LOT of) but I was a little nervous about really commiting to the shots. But if you get
m/s you may not feel like doing anything anyway - I haven't been able to do anything at all most of the time since
m/s kicked in at 6wks, let alone exercise!
Riley baby maybe - hello! Nope, the nervousness hasn't gone away with me at all, you just have to try and put it to the back of your mind so that it doesn't drive you crazy! You'll get there...
DandMe - hope you're feeling brighter today. Don't forget, we've got all these crazy hormones pumping round our bodies now, and that's bound to affect us in different ways on different days.
Roshaunda - hello to you as well! Wow, this thread is really taking off, it's so great!
me2009 - how lovely to see you again! Sorry to hear that you've had a rough road so far, hope that the rest of your pregnancy will be smooth sailing! A good friend of mine from these boards just had twin boys at the weekend, both around the 7lb mark. She didn't find out the sex either, the theory being that it was nice to have one part of this whole IVF process which was a bit of a mystery!
Anyway, I'm off to make some phone calls. Catch you all later!
