Claudia - she is absolutely adorable!! Congrats mama! Can't wait to hear your birth story when you find the time and energy. So glad she is being good for you and I hope she keeps it up!

Gi - YAY for 8 hours of sleep!! That has yet to happen over here. I've gotten 7 hours twice when Darren has done two of the feeds, but that's it. Cannot WAIT for these girls to start sleeping more!

PA - Oh my goodness, I can't believe she fell again! Is she going to stay home or is there a new course of action?

Steph - So glad your appointment went well and maybe you are getting some answers on the bleeding. Oh my goodness, it sounds so awful and scary...glad they at least know what's causing it. I just started taking bc again and now I'm all worried I'll start forgetting pills since it's been awhile  Oh, and as far as the nursing goes and you feeling bad about not doing it...DON'T!! I know how hard it is when they won't latch. If Amelia hadn't picked it up, I would have stopped long ago. Now I've found that it's much easier for me to nurse them at the same time than bottle feed, so I'm sticking with it...but if it gets to be too much, I'll stop. Formula is just fine, and your babies are growing so well. You are a fantastic mommy! As far as the crusty white stuff...no clue. Are you still pumping or letting your milk dry up? When I had a clogged duct it was a sore area in my lower boob...turned red so I knew what it was, but I never had any change in my actual milk. So maybe it was dried milk left over?

Katie - Wow, you haven't left the house yet?? I would be going nuts. Good for you if you can handle it! Oh, I just realized it's cold where you are (I think you said it's cold). Hmmm, not sure I would leave either! I live in Florida so it's easy for me to run out and do things and just throw a blanket over the babies. I'm out most days, but I go crazy if I stay home too long. Are you getting any naps in during the day? Sometimes I don't want to do it, but I force myself. I'm mean when I'm tired and I'll snap at my older kids if I don't get enough sleep.

Hazel - Ha, George's social calendar is hysterical!! Sounds like how I was with Alex when we brought him home, but he was 18 months! Have you tried just letting him cry when he gets fussy during the day? He could be overtired. Or he could be like my oldest brother...he would only take a 20 min nap (if my mom was lucky) a day. Some kids are more active than others. But that is FABULOUS he is sleeping through the night!! Such a great feeling and I can't wait for that to be my girls too!

Karen - I am SOO excited for your awesome u/s!!! Can't wait to hear all about that perfect baby as you have more!

AFM - So I'm going to rant a bit on here then I can move on. Darren was gone the past two nights for business (well, last night he was home, but not until 12:30 since he had a late flight). I knew I would have to do that extra midnight feed on my own and I did, it was fine. I had the expectation that I would be up every 2-3 hours. I even got a long nap in yesterday morning because Juliette was so fussy from 4-5:30. Tonight I was really looking forward to getting 5 hours of sleep...going to bed at 10:30, letting Darren take the last feeding, then waking up between 3-3:30 for the next. Um, no. I love my husband, I really do, but after he fed them he brought them in and they immediately started crying. He got up ONCE to try to get them back to sleep, then came to bed and that was it. Yea, didn't work. I had to get up twice over the next 40 min to calm them down, and by 1:15 (45 min after he brought them in) they were asleep. It's now almost 3am and I am still awake. I was so upset over not getting sleep that I worked myself up and just couldn't go back. Every time I was on the verge, Darren started snoring and my anger over him not making sure the girls were asleep would start all over. I know it's not his fault, but he also knows that he needs to make sure they are alseep before bringing them in!! It was so pointless for him to even do the feeding. If I had done it myself, I would be asleep right now. It was the utter disappointment of NOT getting to sleep when I thought I would that made me so mad.

Ok, so now my super petty rant is over. And it really is so stupid. By the time 2:30 hit, I just decided to screw it and come out on the computer. I will have to feed them around 3-3:30 anyway, so what was the point of even trying to get sleep? It just totally sucks because they've been asleep almost two hours now and I've been up.

Sigh...but now it's 3:02 and while I generally let them wake on their own at night (which should be in the next 15 min anyway), I'll be waking them soon to feed. Hopefully I will be able to fall right asleep and not be anxious about them waking up.

Babyluv - You have the same rant that I do almost every day! If it isn't one thing it's another. The first 10 days when Andrew had off, he was superdad and I was falling even more in love with him. Now that he is back to work, I am almost a single mom again. I don't get any sleep, especially lately. I try to catch up ALL day long, staying upstairs until Alex gets home from school and I have to get up. It isn't depression, just me trying my bed to catch up on sleep so I can semi function, but I can't. Andrew was sacrificing some sleep there for a few days but that quickly vanished. If a baby cries he wakes up, looks up at them or me juggling or even crying because it is 4am and I still haven't got any sleep, and then he just turns over and falls back to sleep. I understand he has to work, he has to function, but don't I have to function too? He is watching over grown men who can take care of themselves, I am taking care for two babies who can't. If I can't function, they suffer. He comes home and doesn't attempt to help, most days I have to tell him to do something. I do give him his time to relax and unwind when he comes home even. You know what he does? He falls asleep. I had Angelina and Ethan needed to be changed, he was obviously poopy. He fell asleep three times on the couch and dropped a mtn dew on the floor before getting up to do it. Even then, he didn't move till he saw I was getting up to do it myself. I wish I could just pass out on the couch at a drop of a hat. I don't have that luxury during anytime throughout the day or night. Ok, now I ranted. Damnit! lol

Angela - Glad everything is still looking good. I can't believe they didn't tell you that your fluid was low last time. Maybe it wasn't low enough to worry about and concern you? The good news though is that everything is fine and Gabriella is healthy. You aren't too far away now. I know you want it to be over now, but she will be perfect. You'll see. ;)

Claudia - She is just adorable! We all just make perfectly gorgeous babies don't we? lol You did a great job mama!

AFM - OMG I am going to die of exhaustion! Last night was another one of those nights! I don't know for sure what time I went to sleep but I know it was after 3am and I was up at 5am. I got the twins to sleep and myself and then what... the new furniture we ordered was in and here. I had to get my ass up and the twins downstairs for them to move it in. This ruined their schedule for the day. We care back to snacking and as soon as I get one asleep the other is awake and vise versa. Not nap time for me at all! I was going to have a friend over today and when I told her that I didn't get any sleep, she said.. oh, ok... another time then. This from a girl who has more than once offered to help while I get some sleep. I am certainly not going to ask for help from my pregnant (almost about o pop) friends, but don't offer unless you are serious. Don't offer because you want to sound nice. Like my next door neighbor, she offered to clean before to help out. She waited until we were gone (she has a key) to clean the house, knowing I would never ask. THAT is a friend! lol Andrew got it last weekend good because he offered to let me sleep Friday night but fell asleep at 8 on the couch and that was it for him. All the while I was expecting to sleep all night and got nothing of the sort. I didn't get but one night of sleep this whole time and even that was interrupted sleep. Well, needless to say that today is a bad day as far as sleep and nerves go. Ethan and Angelina is well worth all of it, but I sure can't wait until they sleep through the night!! :)

Postby claud662 » Fri Dec 03, 2010 11:55 pm

Good evening ladies! whew-I finally have a minute to post before the in-laws are coming over for dinner! I seriously ask myself where the days go because they FLY by!!!

So for my birthing story...Thursday night of Thanksgiving I was at my Aunt's house and afte using the bathroom I felt a "gush" of liquid come out (TMI) and when I went to the bathroom it was clear and just on my underpants. Then after dinner the same thing happened and when I went to the bathroom it looked like I peed myself  and I called my DH in the bathroom who then got my mom who said it was probably my water starting to break!!! I called the on-call dr and they told me to go to the hospital and we were soooo excited!! the whole family was ecstatic and we left to go home and get our hospital bag!! When we got there, we got admitted right away and two residents came in and put me on the monitor and I was having contractions even though I wasn't feeling them and then when they checked my cervix and amniotic fluid they said my water didn't break, that it was just excess discharge, and sent me home!!!!! I was so bummed and hated that I had left thanksgiving dinner to just get sent home!!!

The next night we were at my in-laws for dinner with their whole family and I had felt nothing all day and was convinced that I was going to be late and have a December baby. We went to sleep and I kept having dreams about other people going into labor and when I would wake up I would feel crampy! Finally at 2:30AM I woke up having a contraction and then timed to see if I was going to have another one and I did 5 minutes later!! I woke up DH and told him this was it and we should start timing them so we can call after an hour to the DR. As a side note my OBGYN had given me her cell since she is somewhat of a family friend and told me at my appointments she had every intention of delivering me and to call her no matter who was on call. I left her a message at 4:00AM and headed over to the hospital. When we got there the contractions were starting to come every 4-5 minutes and getting worse and worse as they went on. Everyone and their mom decided they were having a baby that morning because the place was packed (!!) and there was only one resident on the floor and there was an emergency delivery in the room next to me and an emergency c-section that was occupying a lot of the on-call staff.

I sat in the bed after changing into my gown and my water broke right away!! There was tons of it so not only were my contractions getting worse but now I was bed-ridden!!! About 20 minutes goes by and I am having horrible contractions every 2-3 minutes with no down time and I turned into a drunken sailer! I used the F word more than ever in my life and was yell at my husband if he even tried to touch me during a contraction!!!! After what seemed like forever the resident checked me and I was ONLY 3 cm dilated!!! I was like "I am NOT waiting till 5cm to get an epidural I want it NOW!!!" They luckily got me in a delivery room ASAP and I got my epidural.

Now that I am feeling 100 times better my OBGYN calls and says she doesn't know if she can deliver me because her daughter is home from college but that she will "try her best"! She also said I would probably have a long delivery and be prepared to be there for awhile. The rest of the day is going fine and my family keeps stopping in and I am dozing on and off but the epidural keeps wearing off and the pump they gave me is not helping at all. At around 6:00PM I was not dilating past 7cm so the nurse said a DR (either my OBGYN or the one on call who I had never met) would make a decision about a c-secion! I was nervous because this other DR hadn't been in all day and she doesn't know me or my personality and would be making a crucial decision. Around 6:45PM I was having horrible back labor and felt like I was going to poop!!! The nurse got a resident who checked me and I was 8.5cm dilated which was good because I was progressing. I still didn't know what was going on and at 9:00PM my OBGYN FINALLY appeared and checked me and said that I was going to start pushing!!!!! It all happened so fast and the epidural wore off but they basically said I had to continue so I did and Mady was born at 9:34PM!!

Then the drama happens....

Right after I had her the resident started pushing on my uterus to detash the placenta and when she went to deliver it I felt her push it back in me! I of course wanted to know what was going on and my DR took over and started putting her entire arm up my uterus and was pulling. At this point I was SCREAMING in pain and nervous becasue I didn't know what was going on. It turns out my placenta didn't totally detach and there were parts still left in me which can became fatal so they spent the next hour getting it out of me  It was a horrible experience because I couldn't have the joy of having a baby girl and I was feeling everything. After that my whole family came in to see her and I was in such a daze from being in labor over 18 hours, not eating for almost 30, and the trauma that happened. I also got a fever during labor and Mady had to be in the NICU for 48 hours so my experience at the hospital was less than ideal.

With that all being said, I am the happiest lady on earth and I count my blessings for having the most beautiful wonderful little girl.

My in-laws JUST rang the bell with Chinese so I SWEAR I will do personals this weekend and put up pictures.

sorry for the book I wrote!!!!

xoxo

Claudia – I love the picture of Mady! She looks so cute in her outfit. I hope the three of you are settling in nicely with the new addition to your family.

Franca – Thank you so much for the reassurance. I can’t wait to enjoy the holidays with Gabriella and my DH. Good luck with your appointment on Tuesday but I know everything will be just fine.

Babyluv – It is perfectly normal for you to want to sleep! I can’t imagine how hard it is to juggle four kids under the age of 6! The both of you have so much on your plates but I hope he continues to assist you so you don’t feel totally exhausted all the time.

Stephanie – I thought the same thing about my amniotic fluid also but I think the u/s tech was too inexperienced and didn’t know what she was doing because she misinformed me.

It sounds like you have your hands full too with no sleep and fussy babies. I am sure that it is difficult for you to try and juggle everything especially since you are still bleeding and I am sure tired from the excessive bleeding. Are you still taking your prenatal vitamins? You might also need to take some iron since you are still bleeding so much.

AFM – It’s Friday and I am still here … lol. I think I am starting to lose my mucous plug slowly because I am noticing some brown spotting and it seems like I am also leaking a clear fluid. I personally think it is amniotic fluid slowly leaking, which would explain why I had a slightly low level on Monday. I will mention it to my OB and see if they will check to see if it is urine or amniotic fluid and for dilation and effacement on Monday. Have a great Friday night!

Claudia – oh, I am so sorry about your experience. It seems like every person that I know who has gone into labor lately went to the hospital because they were in labor but they were sent back home only to go back the very next day because they were truly in labor! I think I will go postal if that happens to me because the hospital is an hour away!

I am so glad that you are doing better and now able to enjoy your bundle of joy. Have a great dinner tonight with the in-laws!

Claudia- Oh you poor baby. That sounds soooooo painful. But I agree, we will all go through anything to get this miracle. Mady is absolutely gorgeous. I hope they saved you some Thanksgiving leftovers. It's my favorite part. ;)

Stephanie- I'm so sorry you haven't been getting much sleep. I wish I lived in TX so I could help you! I'm sure I will be right there bitching about lack of sleep when my child is born. About a month after she is due, DH has to go to TX for 5 weeks of training so I will be a totally single mom for over a month! ACK!

Angela- It's only Saturday, please call about the fluid leaking. Don't wait till Monday. Just be certain they don't need to see you.

Franca- Yes I have been sleeping with a pillow. Still everytime I roll over or get out of bed to go to the bathroom my hips crack. Oh I'm having lots of neck pain too. Maybe that's from my cold. Who knows.

AFM- Thank you for all of you being concerned about my mom. There isn't anyone else to help. My mom lives in an over 55 community. Her next door neighbor is 84 yr old lady. LOL The guy on the other side is in his 70s and caring for his wife who has cancer. She has been totally selfish this week and it's driving me crazy. She was mixing her meds after I went over them with her for an hour. I even put the old meds in a bag and put them away so she would not get confused. She got them out anyhow and took some anti-anxiety pills to help her sleep. I got a call the next morning from the nurse. On Friday the nurses aide got there to help her learn how to safely shower. She had already done it. Now when I say she had done it, she washed her hair in the sink and given herself a sponge bath. ARGH... so now the aide is irritated because she drove to my mom's and could have been helping someone else. So I had to have a talk with her. Let's see, she is not eating unless I make her something even though I cooked and put meals in the fridge. I am sleeping 12 hrs a night because I am still trying to get over this cold. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing new on the baby front except the crib will now be delivered a week later. Oh well, that's fine. It's still the bright spot in my day. Now if I could get the house decorated for the holidays that would be great. :)
At my last peri they did another 3D. I'm going to try to post it along with a belly shot. Sorry if they end up being too big or too small.
Have a great weekend ladies! XOXO

OK so now for my quick vent. You guys are not effing going to believe this. ARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! My mom has been home for less than 8 hrs and she already fell again. I just got back from her house. It took me an hour, while 7 mos pregnant, to get her (all 180lbs) off of the floor. OMG! Seriously! My DH is on a plane right now on his way to Amsterdam so I am all alone. She called my at almost 11pm. I knew immediately something was wrong because we normally don't call that late. Especially since I am sick an almost went to bed an hour earlier. Anyhow...just had to scream. I have changed my Xmas wish list. I now want an hour long prenatal massage. Damn it...I deserve it. :P

Hope you all are having a better night than me. XOXO

I am so sorry about your poor mother. It must be terrifying and utterly horrifying to be in such a helpless state emotionally and physically. My heart just goes out to her. She must be scared to death to be alone at any time, much less during the night. I hope we're having a better night than your mum!

Sonya- She's doing ok. Just stubborn as hell. She won't eat unless I drive over there and make her dinner. It's really getting exhausting. I hope I don't act like this when I''m 74. No more falling though which is good. Lifealert is set up to call 911 if she falls. Slowly setting up all the safety procautions. :)

Whew! I cant believe how flipping tired I am! How can someone so tiny have the house and everyone in it completely upside down? I finally got the Christmas tree up and icicles up outside, but how are you supposed to shop with a little one who wants your attention 24/7? I'll say it again - Bravo to all of you twin mamas and your energy! Anytime I tell Chris how wiped out I am, he says 'and you wanted twins, just think of how tired you'd be then"! Ummm, I hate when he's right, lol. So Ryan had his first blowout diaper today, for those of you who arent familiar with that term it means when the poop is EVERYWHERE - like up the back, seeping through the clothes, totally covering his genitals, going down his leg - ugh. And I caught it right when it happened too, can you imagine if that was during the night? The only way to clean him up was to get him in the tub right away, but I still worry about all the bacteria going up his urethra. So that was ummmm, fun? Oh, and guess what he's started doing? I have to get a picture of this, he makes a frownie face that looks exactly like an upside smile complete with his bottom lip pushed out. Where did he learn this one from? I see that face appearing later on in life when he wants something - haha. he's been smiling quite often and funny enough, he does it when its appropriate in a conversation - sometimes I just look at him and think - 'you do know what I'm saying dont you"? His sense of timing is something alright. Now if he'd only believe in napping sometimes... It seems that he's decided that the only place fun to nap is on our shoulders - so forget getting anything done, of course if he's been screaming after awhile its too easy to just give in and sit down until you can get him to fall asleep, but dont think of putting him down, or his eyes pop right open and you have to start over from the beginning, ah fun, yes? And the bouncy chair? umm, he still will only put up being in it for 10-15 minutes tops then wails til you get him out of it. I think that one of the best things that we got for him was like 14 dollars at walmart, its a projection toy with music, it projects a picture onto the ceiling (well theres only 2 pictures to choose from, but what do you expect for $14? ) but he is fascinated by it and will sleep in his crib while looking at it, so hooray for that. He's pretty fixated on the Christmas tree too, but that just reminds me that I'm super late and havent even started shopping yet - sigh. but really, who could think of shopping when sleep is a precious commodity in such short supply?

Hazel - Thanks. If Ryan gains control of hias hands by 7-8 weeks it wont be soon enough, he cries when they grab his face, eye, cheek, nose, but he also cries when you tuck him in tight and he cant get to his hands, it would be comical if it werent accompanied by wailing at the top of his lungs. Girl, I cant believe that you're brave enough to get on a plane with a newborn - you rock! tell us now Mum, how many bags did you end up having to bring? So glad that your Mum will be staying with you all for awhile, she sounds so sweet and having everyone together will bring some much needed healing - much love xoxo

PA - Aw, honey, I love the pics, thanks for posting them! How great that you got to see her cute little face before getting to meet her. You definitely got lucky with her showing her face to the camera, I've heard of quite a few mommies to be that tried a few times and - nothing, I guess theres lots of camera shy babies out there. aw, honey, what you're going through with your mom is just too much, you give her everything you can. I think that lifealert is a grand idea, hopefully that will cut out some of your worry. Now if only she would listen to the nurses/ aides and let them help her... I feel for you honey, you've got alot on your hands with her and being her only caregiver? its definitely like being between a rock and a hard place. On a high note, you've got like 11 weeks or so left! That little one will be the best Valentine's day gift ever! - xoxo

Angela - Ugh, honey I know the waiting is just awful, but thankfully it wont be too much longer now. Gabriella will be in your arms soon! the last 2 weeks or so of being pregnant for me was soooo slow feeling, like as if time werent moving at all - then when it does happen? its like time moves super fast, you'll see what I mean soon. I was told that if you're concerned about amniotic fliud or confused as to which is leaking - to smell it, no I'm not kidding, urine obviously smeels like ammonia but amniotic fliud is said to have a sweetish smell. Yes, bizarre I agree, but if its late and you dont want to call your on call, if it gives you peace of mind, then so be it, right? How are you faring weather wise? its been frigid here, but so far just flurries and nothing major - yet. try to relax and rest up as much as you can, you're so close now - xoxo

Gi - How are you and little ( ok, the not so little haha ) Kayla doing? I'll bet that by now you're staring at her sleeping in wonder that this perfect baby is yours and that she's finally here - enjoy her. ooh i love your new ticker too. I know the feeling, I thought that when Ryan's cord fell off that he looked more grown up too, crazy isnt it? Say hi to your Mam - xoxo

Steph - Argh!! You need to get some rest too! And if that means that Andrew has to lose some sleep sometimes, well thats part of a daddy's job. If mama isnt happy, then no ones happy, right? You have the sweetest neighbor ever, coming over to help you clean up the house as a surprise for you, theres just not enought people like that in the world these days. Well you've got my vote for best mom of the year, I just hate to hear that you're so exhausted and not getting the help that you need. I'll be right there with you this monday when Chris starts this horrible schedule that will mean he's gone for 18 hours a day til Chrismas eve - except that you've got double the babies wanting your attention. Note to Ethan & Angelina - Please hurry up and start sleeping through the night guys, your mama is wiped out! much love to you twin mama - xoxoxo

Claudia - aw honey, she is too precious! I'm glad that you're home and healing, but sorry that your labor was so long and painful! And to have gone through all that without a working epidural? Eeeeek! Thank God its over and you both are safe and healthy. I have to say that as scared as I was for that c section when I was still thinking that I was going to deliver vaginally I must have asked twice if they were sure that my epidural wasnt going to run out and they just kept saying of course not, then I her that yours did and get irritated, didnt they realize that you being in labor for 18 hrs meant that your lines should have been checked often? i'm sorry that happened to you, but little Madelyn makes it all worth it, I know. Good job mama! - xoxo

Babyluv - How's are other twin mama holding up? I cant imagine that you're getting any more sleep yet, but I can hope so, right? have you still got your parents there to help with Alex & Scarlett? You've got alot on your plate honey. but on the other hand, you've got 4 gorgeous children too! yes, its frigid here. like 22 degrees at night - brrrrr! and the days are only getting up to maybe 35-40, so its officially winter - ugh. I lived in Fl for a few years and GA, AL also, and boy do i miss the South, maybe not in the heat of August, but right now? YES! Ok, so try your best to get as much rest as you can they have to sleep through the night at some point right? although some nights I'm just convinced that Ryan is nocturnal - sigh - much love twin mama - xoxo

Karen, Sonya, Natasha, Franca,Jamila, Ronda, Lou - i'm thinking of you all and hope that you're all doing well, but I cant keep my eyes open anymore so dont be offended that I grouped you all together - I'm sorry but I'm sooooo tired! - hugs & prayers to us all - xoxoxo

Katie - Oh boy, you sound like you are supermom. I can't get as much done even with one if I wanted to. lol I am lucky if I can pick up the house or shower. You know, last night I wanted one of those (shower) and I waited too long. Yup, you read that right. I was doing something else while the twins were asleep and when I was ready to go upstairs, they were awake so, "I was too late." Really? I have to stink longer because you can't juggle for 30 minutes? Something I do all day long and most nights! Not sure what to do about this but it is sure testing my patience. That pouty lip thing is cute and sad at the same time isn't it? Ethan does that one pretty well. Maybe it's a guy thing? I call it the poopy lip. lol One because it is a poopy face and two because there is a saying that if you stick your lip out too far, a birdie is going to come by and poop on it. :)

Pa - Thanks for the friend request. I saw your gorgeous little girl and boy is she just that! If you don't mind... I can save it and post it here for you for everyone to see? I am sure I can get it to work. :) So how's your mom? Is she behaving? I hope you are feeling ok! Take care of you!

Angela - Maybe if you are losing your plug that something will happen?? Maybe!

AFM - Well I have some first smile pictures!! Angelina is still smiling a lot more than Ethan. I still think it's ironic since she is the cranky one yet she smiles so much more. I finally can say that I know they are real now that I can talk to her and she smiles all the time now, especially when given ALL the attention. lol Ethan still not so much, but I did catch ONE! I am just going to post all I have, even the none smiling ones just because I think they are all cute! \ I just LOVE the looks I get! LOL
