Need to hear your bleeding stories

Postby Catherine » Tue Sep 30, 2003 5:03 pm

I'm 7w4d, and have been bleeding for the last two weeks. This is the first time I have posted on this side, and to be honest, with everything going on, I've taken a break from the site because of being scared to read anyone's bad news. Selfish I know, but I just didn't feel I could take it.

When the bleeding first started last week, I was told to just stay in bed. After a few days, it got so bad that I went to the emergency room (not at my clinic) where following the ultrasound they said they saw two sacs but no heartbeats, and told us they were very sorry. About an hour and a bucket of tears later the doctor came back to us and said that my HCG was still very high, so he didn't know what to think. The next day we went to my clinic where the doctor found one healthy baby with the faintest beating heart (it was still a little early). She also saw what may have been a second sac that didn't make it. She said that I was probably bleeding to flush that all out, and to be a normal person (return to work, etc).

Well, the spotting had been light off and on since, but for the last three days I have been cramping all day and night, with some dark brown bleeding. It seems like quite a bit in the morning, then tapers down during the day (though the cramps remain). Has anyone else experienced this? I know my RE said to expect it, but it just seems like quite a bit and so often that it is difficult to believe everything is OK.

Thanks for all your help,
Catherine

Hi Catherine,

I know exactly what you are going through. I had a very heavy bleed at 7wks6d which faded away to nothing after a few days, then started again 8wks6d and I am still bleeding every day (9wks4d) just like you a lot in morning tapering down at night I have had a couple for days of bad cramps, everytime scan shows two health little heartbeats, but the scan does show a seperation of one of the sacs and the doctors think that is where the bleeding is coming from.

Our doctor has just told us to get on with life and what will happen will happen, finding it a little difficult because I am so sick at the moment.

It is difficult to believe everything will be okay and we are preparing for the worst but staying slightly hopeful as well.

Are you booked in for another scan? Try and stay a little positive, there has been alot of previous messages about bleeding with happy outcomes.

Fingers crossed for you and huge hug
Love
Lynne

Hi Catherine,
Will reply to your email asap. For now though, do what you feel you have to and if that means lying down, or not working, do just that. As I've been told many times, if it needs to come out, it will - but that does not help mentally - doing all you feel that YOU can do does!. It could be nothing, it could be your body getting rid of the second sac (especially if there's old blood too), it could be implantation bleeding, or it could be what I had - a haematoma (spelling?!) which was bruising.
Whatever it is, you need to take it easy, for your own sake more than anything - and most of all, stay positive. You have a wee fighter in there, so you keep fighting too!!!
Take care
Zoe x

P.S You too Lynne - hope the sickness stops soon, but that's a great sign, it means your wee ones are sucking your nutrients and growing, growing, growing!!!!!!

Hi Catherine

I know its not easy the first sight of blood and you think something terrible is happening. I started bleeding on day 13 of my 2ww and I was due to test on day 14 but I really did think AF was here because I had cramping and AF pains. Well I did test on day 13 and it was negative and advised the clinic that the ICSI didn't work. They advised me that I still needed to test again on day 14 and I said whats the point its negative and I am bleeding.

Well I did test on day 14 to prove a point, yeah prove a point the clinic was right and glad I did test. It was POSITIVE. I had bleeding up till 14wks and then I got it at 18wks and luckily now its calmed down.

I just want to say I know exactly where your coming from but please try not to worry. I was advised to take it steady when I was bleeding and thats exactly what I done because my health and my baby is all that matters work could wait.

I am now 25wks pregnant and the bleeding asn't shown again (touch wood) but I just wanted you to know that hopefully things will be ok for you.

If you want to ask me any questions please mail me or ask away and I will try and help.

Take Care
Love
Shell.
25wks 2d pg
xx
