Lots of Bleeding again!

Post by wendy30 » Fri Aug 27, 2004 5:28 pm

Hi

Have had a terrible day, started bleeding about 11.30 this morning and still bleeding now 18.00. Its proper red blood with clots this time.

Have been to the hospital this afternoon and my hcg level has increased from 3046 on Tues to 7700 today. They did an exam and the neck of my womb appears to be closed. They also did an internal scan and there is no signs of eptopic pregnancy and there is a small pregnancy sack where it should be, it is smaller than supposed to be but the doctor said thats nothing to worry about at this stage.

I have no pain apart from a bit backache and the hospital are not sure what is causing the bleeding.

I have to go back on Monday for more blood tests and maybe another scan. They are still saying that the HCG, my lack of pain, the scan and the fact the womb is not open are positive signs but they are worried about the amount of blood and clots.

Don't even know how I feel now, I expected to be told when I got my blood test back that it was all over. I just feel numb now. :?

Does anyone have any words of wisdom to help?

Wendy

Ps still feel sick & chest is still really veiny

Hey Wendy,
I am sorry to hear what you are going through ... but you have to hang in there !! I know its hard, but worry won't make it any better...
Your HCG levels sound great !!! Did they see the pg sac, but it way to early to see anything more than that.. If they clinic told you not to worry I wouldn't!! If they thought that it was something ''dangerous'' they would of told you, did you have your progesterone levels checked? I have heard of some many women to go on a healthy pregnancy and still bleed, I know someone in particular who had her AF for 6 months, and found out she had 3 months left of her pregnancy !!!! IMAGINE THAT !!!! So please try to stay calm and relax on the sofa, rent a movie and really take it easy !!
I hope you start feeling better really soon !
Did they tell you how far along you are ???

Take good care

Wendy,

I am so sorry you are going through this! I am so glad that your hcg is high and your womb is closed! Please try to relax and trust that everything is fine. I think I might have already told you this, but a girlfriend of mine bled through out her whole first trimester -- once it was bad enough to bleed through her tennis skirt -- and she just gave birth to her daughter two days ago! Please try not to worry, I know it is so hard and so scary, but many women bleed throughout their pregnancies! And you still feel sick and your chest is still veiny - those are great signs! I am so sorry that you have to go through the whole weekend worrying. Please just keep telling yourself that you are pregnant and that everything is going to be fine! Hang in there! I will keep you in my thoughts and say extra prayers for you all weekend!

Wendy:

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all of these panicky situations. Are you able to just lay low and take it easy all weekend? Self prescribed bed rest?
The HCG levels sound fabulous. How far along are you actually? I'm not keeping great track. We should have our own list here on this side. Hang in there and best of wishes to you.

Thanks Teresa, Shannon & Paige

I am 5 & 1/2 weeks ish. Yes they could see a small pregnancy sack and they did say there wouldn't be anything else to see just now anyway.

I don't know if they tested my progesterone level.

I am just planning to rest all weekend and I am also signed off all of next week now.

I am still praying everything will be ok but also trying to be realistic, if the baby survives this it must be a strong wee thing.

Will hopefully be able to find out more on Monday, until then a wee bit nervous, hopefully will have terrible morning sickness when I get up tomorrow.

Thanks again. Hope you all have nice quiet restful weekends

Love Wendy

Wendy,

When I had my scare over the weekend, I scoured this board for similar posts and I found one that you may be interested in -- it is titled "bled saturday night" by Sarah30 on page 18 of the pregnacy after treatment -- I think reading all those responses will really help reassure you!

Love to you!

Wendy,
I just wanted to share some information I found on a medical university web site. First it said that about 40 % of healthy pregnancies have some spotting or bleeding during the first weeks.
A miscariage is accompanied by pain. When I miscarried the pain was 10 times worse than regular AF pain. I hate to even use that word but I know it is probley something you can not get of your mind. It is a VERY positive sign that you are not experiencing pain!

I second Shannon's advice. Go read the old post.

What I wanted to say was that if you are taking asprin you might want to stop or consult your doctor about stopping. Aspirin is an anti-coagulant which means it has blodd thinning properties.
Also, I would opt for complete bed rest. Make hubby go get you some wonderful movies or grab a book you have been longing to read. Worrying will only make the days go slower! I know this is easier said than done.
Just remember.....40% of healthy pregnancies!!! I will keep you in my prayers!

Wendy

I know how hard it is, but please try and stay as calm as you can and rest, rest, rest.

I had exactly the same, about the same time too, and they didn't know what was causing the bleeding, it turned out a lot later down the line that 2 of my eggs had embedded, but only one lasted, and the bleed was the one that didn't. Another factor is all the things that your body is going through internally, post treatment (can you imagine, all those hormones etc, it's confused as hell down there!

Bed rest for you my dear, lots of water (aspirin too, if you aren't already), books/mags/cheesy films and a big chocolate feast too - go wild!

Concentrate on all the positives too, your levels are up, the neck of the womb is closed, there's a sac, keep visulasing the baby growing, visulalise the nursery, all PMA's to make you feel better.

All my fingers and toes are crossed, and will keep and eye out for your posts over the next few days.

Lots of Love

Dawn xx

Hi Wendy,

It's rotten you're having to go through this. Nothing anyone can say will make you fret less, but if it's any consolation, I bled on and off through my pregnancy, but especially the first 14 weeks. I had brown bleeding, red bleeding, pain and clots. It scared the hell out of me every time as I'd lost a baby on the attempt before after seeing the heartbeat. I also did my treatment at Edinburgh and found both the IVF clinic and the EPU fantastic. In the end, I had a wee fighter too, albeit one who decided he wanted to meet us 7 weeks early.

If there's anything I can help you with, please ask. Take it easy and try to stay positive. I'm thinking of you.

Thanks Shannon, Mia, Dwan & Zoe

It does really help to hear of other people who have gone through this.

I am still spotting, mainly brown stuff with wee clots but no more huge stuff and no pain thank god.

I am taking it easy as I am totally shattered, the most energetic thing I've down is check my email in the last couple of days. I look crap as well, like Mortitia from the Adams Family but without the make up, I am so pale.

I am sort of go from postive to just trying not to think about it really, hopefully they will be able to tell us more tomorrow.

Thanks again

Wendy

Hi Wendy,
just wanted to say that I am thinking about you, I know how incredibly distressing this bleeding is, having had it twice in this pregnancy. In my case they also checked the neck of the womb and as long as it is closed it's a very good sign! as someone else said tt is quite possible that you had another implanted embie there which might have been lost. In my case they said it was a internal heamatom, they could see it was next to my babies but it did them no harm in the end (cannot say the same for my peace of mind, but one gets through it)
Good luck, I will watch for your news.

Hiya

Just to let you all know we have lost our little baby, no sign of it on the scan and hcg now 400.

Thanks for all your help.

It does seem really unfair but at least we got a positive and to see that IVF can work so maybe if we summon up the courage for a sixth attempt we will get a baby in the end.

Love

Wendy

Dear Wendy and dh,
Ive not logged on for a wee while and Im dreadfully sorry for your dreadful waiting time and now your loss. Try to rest and look after yourself. I dont know if it helps but looking back now I see my own losses as little steps closer to the one successful go. (sixth time lucky for me ... so far) I also bugged my clinic for the counselling outlined in their pamphlet and found that despite only having one session with a subfertility nurse counsellor it really helped to stop my head spinning and to plan for the future without paniccing.
love Annie

I am so sorry to hear this. I hope you can really take it easy, Spoil yourself with lots of chocolate and go shopping buy something new, how about a manicure or pedicure. Take all the time you need to recover...
As you said at least you know that you can get pg with IVF ...
