Fetal heart rate monitors - safe? recommendations?

Post by Luchia » Tue Nov 07, 2006 11:39 pm

This is Lisa's husband, actually. Being the cautious, look 5 times before crossing the road type, I am concerned with my wife wanting to probe around with an ultrasound device to listen to the baby's heart rate. Can anyone respond to my two questions?

1. There is a new study on ultrasound and mice fetuses, indicating ultrasound may affect brain development. I know it was on mice, and the study indicated more study is needed and that we should not give up on all ultrasounds, but has anyone else heard of such findings?

2. If any one else is using them out there, do you have model recommendations? Is there like a cell-phone rating scheme - showing the one the has the highest radiation, but the most features or the best reception? :)

Please let me know, and help calm a nervous father-to-be.

Thanks

Thanks Vita

I just orded mine! I can't wait!

Did you get the one with the recorder? That CD you can buy when you return it sounds pretty cool.

Is it pretty easy to hear just the heart beat or do you hear a bunch of other stuff?
