New here. Want to adopt after failed IVFs

Postby winnieone » Mon Oct 29, 2007 5:17 pm

We want to adopt. We failed IUI, one IVF, one Donor Egg IVF and one Donor Egg FET. However, I badly want to try for a bio child even if we do adopt.
I feel so misled by the medical profession. I feel they inflate their statistics and LIE to couples about their real chances with IVF. If a doctor says his DE IVF success rate is 75%, its probably more like 40%. I don't believe them anymore.
Maybe in a few years, success rates will improve somewhat. Perhaps I will have a chance then,
Is it horrible to do IVF after you adopt a child?

hello
after 4 IVF ICSI (1 miscarriage) at 25 years old, DH and I are adopting. I did feel that even after the adoption, I might want to have a bio and try IVF again. But now that the adoption process is moving, being pregnant and having a bio baby is not my priority... All we want is a family.
But why should you feel bad about wanted to try IVf fter an adoption?? There is nothing wrong about it. You will love your children the same!

Good luck with your decision

Hi! I have adopted and I have 8 frozen embryo's. Even though I personally will not do IVF again. After seeing how many children needs homes for me I would rather put my money into adoption. Also I would have to take blood thinners if I tried again and it is not fair to my son if something happened to me.

There are lots of people on an adoption forum that I visit that has both adopted and bio. Some of the bio came before the adoption and some didn't...

Family are made in lots of different ways and it doesn't matter how they come about as long as there is love...

Good Luck!!

I think that it doesnt matter how you make a family, it's about the love you have to give no matter how you go about giving it. I just got results today from 6th IVF attempt, BFN, luckily we were in a shared risk program, and will get our money back, and we will definately use that toward adoption. I am not giving up on IVF though either, perhaps right now, our bodies are just telling us that now is not the right time. I believe that God has a plan for us all, and for those of us who travel down the long hard IVF road without success will just appreciate a precious adopted child all the more!!! Best of luck to you in whatever you choose!
