Pregnant or Not Pregnant

Postby Scott » Wed Oct 04, 2006 7:55 am

Hi All,

My partner and I have been trying for a child for 9yrs now and after many tests, have been told that our infertility is unexplained. We were advised two yrs ago that "IUI" would prob be the best course of action.

A 2yr wait on the Uk NHS would have to be endured before this could be carried out. Being at the wrong end of 30, we decided to go private as we were lucky enough to have some savings. After the first attempt ending in failure, we took a couple months rest bite, a battery recharge as most will understand. On second procedure we were successful! On the weekend 2 weeks after insemmination took place, we did about 9 pregnancy tests as we just could not believe each poss result. We were overwhelmed with joy. An appointment to the Fert Clinic had been arranged for the Tues. After they conducted there own test, we were told that the "hGC" level was very low and we would have to return in 3 days. We arrived home and decided to carry out yet another test, this was negative as was another and another!!! To say we were gutted was a mild statement as it must be a feeling commonly shared by people in this community.
My partner to date has suffered no apparant mis-carriage that she can see, nor has she had a period, to date she has never missed one in her adult life. As no concrete answer has been given from doctors, we are at a loss as to what has happened???? Has anyone else been through this? and maybe help me understand??

I can't start to imagine how this is affecting my wife as she is going through it physically aswell as mentally, It is destroying me, though I have to appear strong for us both.

If I appear insensative or have caused offence to anyone in this, I apologise,

Kind Regards

Scott

I would go for a scan if I were you. It might be what is called a missed miscarriage, and your partner may need a d & c to clean herself out. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I went through the same thing last year. The good news is, my 4th IUI cycle was successful, and I'm now mommy to twin girls. Give yourself time to mourn, but hang in there.

Hi Scott, Im really sorry that after your initial excitment, you where then given bad news.
We did our first IVF in March this year. Everything went so well, and had a pozative test. Up until our 8 week scan everything went well no problems, so when we had the scan we could see the sac but no baby, my husband and I were devastated, as we had no reason to beleive anything was wrong, and as the consultant explained even if we did another test it would still be pozative. I was offered various choices, and went for a D & C in the end. Perhaps your wife needs the same, surely the doctors should have spoken to you about this.
We have 4 frozen embryo's and are thinking of going for it again soon. You sound like you are been so supportive to your wife, and am sure she appreciates it so much, we often forget about our husbands, whom also go through the process. We are also on the waiting list in Scotland but also went private, age was also against us.
Anyway good-luck and take care one another.

Possible Good news

Postby Scott » Sat Oct 14, 2006 8:44 am

Hi again all,

Thanx for support and advise!!!

We are now 5 weeks down the line after our initial treatment, and after still no apparant bleeding or period, a further visit to the fert clinic was called for! To our complete surprise, we were told that after a pos preg test, that something was still happening, there was still some "hGC" in my wifes urine? A blood test was done and we were asked to come back in 2 days. Upon our next visit we were informed that "Rhona" was pregnant and that her level was about what they would expect at that time? To say we were speechless was an understatement!!!!!!! At the moment we are not getting our hopes up to much as it is to soon to go through that bitter dissapopintment again.

An explanation of what has happened is still rather vague though what is a possability is that we were preg with twins and that was the reason for such a high "hGC" level so early and one of the twins died and the level fell drastically? devestating in it's self!!!

Anyhow fingers x'd. We are going for early scan on 27/10.

Will post letter regardless of outcome.

Kindest regards

Scott n Rhonzie xx :D :D :D

Hi again guyz,

Went yesterday for second scan just to confirm what we already knew, that the sack was empty (Blighted Ovum). Bitter disapointment is probably an understatement, a cruel injustice after so much struggle to get as far as we did. But a big positive has come out of this!!!, we now know that we can get pregnant!! We will try not to dwell on what we can't change, pick ourselves up physically and mentally and try again (going to sell Rhonzie's 12" record collection on Ebay to fund it, lol, not told her yet!!!)
Again, a big thanx to all for your help and support through this.

Scott n Rhonz

Scott, your positive attitude and willingness to try again are inspiring after your disappointment. I hope the next round has wonderful results! I'm pulling for you both!

Pregnant or Not Pregnant

Postby Preeddy09 » Mon Nov 30, 2009 1:08 pm

Without administering a pregnancy test there is no way for any of us to know if you are pregnant.

If you have been sick or stressed or had a change in your sleep recently that can cause your period to be late.

Why not buy a pregnancy test?

Nausea. Most pregnant women start to get the queasies when they're about 6 weeks along, but some can experience morning sickness (which unfortunately can occur morning, noon and night) earlier.
