periods after birth

Just a quick question, since giving birth i have been bleeding but as this started to slow down it got really heavy again, just like a period and has been this way for 3 days now, My little boy is 4 weeks and4 days old.
Has anyone eles started having periods so soon after birth while breastfeeding, as i thought that it was one of the perks of breastfeeding.

Might just be still post partum bleeding... I bled for about 8 weeks. Nothing since then though.

Hi charlie

I bled for approx 4 weeks following the birth, then it slowed down and stopped. At my 6 week check up (Actually I think it was at 7 weeks) I started bleeding that morning! I was also exclusively breastfeeding. The nurse said it was probably my period and it can happen even if you are breastfeeding. It only lasted a day! I didnt have another period for 6 months just before I started giving Jenna solids. Since then things have got back to normal.
