Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well.
We are getting to the end of this cold, thank goodness. I hate seeing her so congested, and the cough just kills me. She smiles through the whole thing, however.
Last weekend, Katie decided if she was awake, she would be talking. We heard her jibber jabber all weekend. And on Monday when I picked her up from daycare, she was doing the raspberries spitting thing. It is so cute. She does this from when she first wakes up periodically throughout the day. She doesn't want her pacifier much when she is awake anymore, too much other stuff to do. She loves to sit in her Bumbo chair, and we put toys on the tray. She loves to throw them off and look at us like, where are my toys?
We took her to the DR that day because my daycare provider thought she was wheezing. The DR said the rasperries is a language development thing, and that makes sense since she has shifted into talking high gear. The DR said she was not wheezing, but the scale showed that she had lost 10 oz since four days earlier when they checked her chest last. That is what is frustrating about going to a bigger practice, because the measurements, weights etc all vary so much from room to room. They tried two scales and got same weight on both. I know she did not lose 10 oz, even thought she was eating a little less due to the cold. The DR said not to worry about the number, she looked fine and that is the important thing. Don't worry, right! I wish.
Since then she has picked up on her eating again, and I tried cereal with some applesauce in it for the first time two days ago. At first, she pushed out w/ her tongue like yuck. She had eaten cereal before, so she knew about the texture so this surprised me. I gave her a bottle, and after the bottle, she kept opening her mouth for the food. I guess she just wanted her bottle first.
It hit me yesterday that she is never going to crawl or roll over if we don't give her more tummy time. She hates being on her tummy and cries almost instantly. I guess we will have to put her on her belly for a few minutes, and a few more tomorrow and so on to build up her tolerance. From like two months ago, she was able to roll herself over onto her back when she was laying against my chest, but since she isn't on her tummy much, hasn't learned it on the floor. And I know she will crawl as soon as her arms build up a little, because her legs are really strong. I just have to do it and get her used to her tummy.
I can't believe how time is flying, you all are getting closer to 1 yr birthdays, and Katie will be 5 months on Monday.
I wish you all a great weekend, and I am saying prayers for Michele's BFP.
