Hi, I am new to this board!

Hello, I am new here, and wanted to introduce myself. I am 26 and my DH is 27. We have been TTC for over a year now with no success. We knew there was something wrong with me b/c I ovulate about twice a year and thats it. I don't get my period. After a preliminary Dx of PCOS and some treatments with my regular OB/GYN, we decided to seek help of a fertility center. At our first appointment we figured it best to move onto injectables and IUI. Before we started the last thing on the checklist was my DH's semen analysis. We figured all was well with that since we knew there was something wrong with me. Well, lo and behold we got the news that there was no sperm in his ejaculate. This was etremely devastating. He saw a urologist who , by his initlial examination, found that he has Congenital absence of the vas deferns. He just had a repeat analysis yesterday and bloodwork to see if he is infact making sperm. If he is, we will move directly to IVF/ICSI, being our only choice.

We are still so in shock, we can't believe that we are dealing with 2 fertility problems, his being on of the worst in male factor infertility. Our hearts are aching and I am reminded of the shock everyday, of what we have to go through to have a baby, and that it is no guarentee that it will happen for us. I get a nauseated, sick in the pit of my stomach feeling everytime I think about it.

Sorry my introduction is so long, but I hope to hear of some success stories and meet some people going through the same thing because I feel so alone now (except for my DH of course). All my friends are popping up pregnant left and right without barely trying, and all they to say for me is "it will happen, don't worry". Well, the reality of it, is it might not, and no one understands. Well, thanks for listening!

hey bonita,

my DH has the same problem, no vas deferens. Luckely for us, his urologist suggested testicular biopsy to check if he is producing anything at all. He does.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me. I went thru it and I know how you feel.

Sorry to hear about the terrible time you are having, i can only empathise with the fact that you are 26 (the same as me) and having problems conceiving, I cannot offer advice with regards to your DH, but would like to say hello and wish you luck on your journey....best of luck to the pair of you, stay positive!
