Roll Call

Postby Dee » Mon Jul 29, 2002 10:44 am

Let me be the first to post on our new message board! I was wondering if it might be a good idea to start again with a roll call to get an update on who is at what stage? I'll start ...

Currently 21 weeks pg. Due date is 6 Dec, although am having a caesarean so will probably have the baby around the end of Nov. Hoping to finish work in early Oct. It's quite early, but I've had enough already! I am having the baby in Lewisham Hospital.

Hope you are all keeping well.

Love
Dee x.

Hi girls

Received a positive result today following our first attempt at ICSI.
Guess that makes me 4 weeks pregnant? Still can't quite believe it. My hcg count? was 106 and they expect at least 50 so does anyone know if that might indicate twins or not?

Congratulations to you all

Elaine

Hi there Dee, Chris, Elaine and Maggie,

Dee - great idea to have a new roll call. Actually its taken me a few days to be able to log in- teething problems maybe!

Anyway - I am currently 26 weeks pg with.....triplets! Have a scan tomorrow, but at last scan(24 weeks) all were fine, and slightly above average on the graph for singletons. As you can imagine I am huge...and slightly uncomfortable(to say the least) but would not change a thing! We are into count down mode now, with 8 weeks ish to go before a c-section at 34 weeks. Can't wait to meet my little ones. All through the pg to date I have been very lucky with no problems, and hope more than anything that carries on for the next 8 weeks. Fingers crossed!
We had treatment (IVF/ICSI) at the ARGC and this was our first cycle.
Good to hear from you Dee and Chris, and welcome and congrats to Maggie and Elaine - brilliant news!

Keep in touch
Love and hugs
Sally xx

Hi Ladies,

Wow, there's so many of us here. Congratulations everyone.

I'm still trying to accept our positive result, just waiting for our first scan on 22nd, hoping to see a hearbeat or two which will definately make it real.

monalisa, I asked my clinic about sex and they said not yet. I don't know if I am a different case because I had a m/c last year at about 6 or 7 weeks and also had bleeding during my 2ww. I would suggest you phone your clinic and ask their advice. I've read in pregnancy books and on the net that sex shouldn't harm you or your baby but not sure if it is different in ivf. Maybe some others here have some more info on this topic. You also mentioned about trying to make people understand what you are going through, lucy33 posted a letter on the old forum which might help you. The old site address is http://ivf-infertility.community.everyo ... pts/topics
.pl?NodeID=291632
and if you do a search for her posts you should find it. I think it was posted i june or july.

Good luck to everyone.

love maggie.xx

Hii monalisa

I think you may have come to the right website. I've found this community to be a very understanding one indeed. Everyone's so welcoming and you soon feel as if you all know each other. There are some veterans and some new names but it doesn't make one bit of difference we all treat each other the same - with kindness, consideration and lots of compasion. You'll have lots of shoulders to cry on when things are not so good and cheers when things go right. I found this sight in Feb 2002 when I first started IVF - to say that it a great companion is an understatement!

Anyway, back to your query about sex, I think most clinics will tell you to carry on as normal - that type of thing - but personally I would take exception to having an orgasm! Sounds wierd but I wouldn't want to expell my delicately placed embryos in a moment of climax! I too have just found out I might be pregnant and will be having my first scan, like you, on Friday 16th. I've already had one hiccup in the form of minor bleeding but I'm fine now. Seriously, I'd advise you to take it very easy indeed. My DH will not even come anywhere near me now for fear of triggering off a miscarriage. We live in fearful times these days!

Take heart monalisa, I'm just trying to lighten things up a bit - whatever you do, take it easy for now.

Good Luck.

mao

Hi Girls

Haven't been on for a few days as have been really ill. I picked up a bug on saturday and was sick and the other end literally at the same time for 12 hours. Phoned NHS helpline and they gave me good advice as to what to do. I would recommend them to anyone if you want any reassurance at any time. I lost half a stone and have never felt so rough in my life. Am worried to death that I have harmed the baby as I haven't eaten properly for 5 days. I still spend most of the time in bed but am much better today. Will try to go back to work for a few hours tomorrow. This is all you need this early on and now I can't wait for my 1st scan on the 22nd to see if everything is ok.
I thought once we got pregnant then things would get easier but I think things get worse. Hate going to the toilet in case I'm bleeding. Think I'm going mad!!

Hope you all are doing well and good luck with the scans etc.

Best wishes

Elaine x
