I'm having a paranoid day!!

Postby Helen G » Thu May 01, 2003 5:16 pm

I think I've been reading/hearing too many horror stories about people getting to their 12 week scan and finding out that their babies had died a week or so before - like poor old Woppa.

Don't know why but I'm convinced that because I dont' really have any symptons, it's all gone wrong. I know this is completely irrational and there is nothing to suggest any problems, but .......

I have my scan on Wednesday so not too long to wait.

I went to the dentist today and had to visit the hygienist for instruction as my gums are starting to go funny already (I suppose this is a pregnancy sympton that I should be pleased about!!!! :) ). She reckons that a combination of having twins and the IVF treatment itself (all those additional hormones) have made my gums go puffy. Generally I have very good teeth and gums so this was a bit of a shock. Need to start doing all sorts of stuff every day to reduce the puffiness and stop any bleeding. Lovely - sorry for this bit of info - yucky!!

Tip for the day: visit your dentist!!!!!!!

Hope everyone is feeling lovely and pregnant.

Helen xx

[Edited by Helen G on 01-May-03 18:17]

Hiya Helen

I know how you feel about feeling paranoid that something is going to go wrong. I have days where I feel like that as well.

All you can do really is try and keep busy till your scan and keep everything crossed! I'm sure it will be fine.

My hubby measured my waist a couple of weeks ago and then again a week later and it had grown an inch and a half in a week so that was reassuring that something's growing in there (or I'm eating too much, LOL!).

It is awful all this worrying isn't it? Anyway, I hope things are ok for you at your scan. Take care,

Luv Rachel X

I'm having a paranoid day!!

Hello - can I join the paranoid club too. I'm 6 weeks today and am feeling exactly the same. I have no symptoms at all except feeling tierd and that's probably a side effect of the progresterone stuff i'm having so have nothing to say that anything is going ok.

I have a successful IVF in October but in January at 12 weeks found out the baby had died. So I'm extra extra paranoid this time - especially with no symptoms (had symptoms last time round). I've phoned the clinic and had a good old winge and they've agreed to scan me next Friday at 7 weeks, so I will hopefully be able to see a heartbeat (or two) then. Even 1 weeks seems too long to wait.

Suppose we're all in the same boat really and are all feeling pretty much the same.

Chins up girls

Love Sarah x

I'm having a paranoid day!!

Hi Helen and all

I know how you must all feel about lack of symptons. This is my second pregnancy through IVF (first child now 3). I had absolutely no symptons at all during first preg. I suffered from heartburn from about 5/6 months onward and was actually sick about 2/3 times during the whole of the preg, but that was towards the end and was due to acid and nothing else.

As for gums/teeth - I had a problem with one of my teeth during preg -couldn't chew on it, and once baby was born the tooth broke in half! Think dentist said it was due to hormones.

Have had a few more sympons in this preg but basically what i'm trying to say is, don't wish for symptons just consider yourself very lucky, relax and enjoy being preg.

I've got a freind who was preg (naturally) and had a threatened miscarrage, was a sick as a dog from start to about 5 months, had the shingles and then ended up with a 10pound baby (she's a 5ft 4, size 10 girl)!! Once baby was born, she then suffered from the trots because of some ati-biotics she had to take, so don't wish for symptons.

Sorry if this sounds like a lecture, it's not. I'm just trying to be help.

Lots of good wishes to everyone

bb

Hi helen and everyone,

I know exactly how you feel, I felt like that until my 12 week scan. Then thought I would feel less paraniod. But I don't think I have! Everyone at work knows now and they keep saying how's the baby and I keep saying- I hope it's ok! I think that every pregnant person feels paraniod, but that ivf preganancies are that bit more precious as obciously there was a lot more to get here that we are much more paraniod than 'Normal' pregancies.
Good luck everyone - at least we can all be paranoid together!!
Lots of love
Kirsty
x
